What a night! I just got back from the Pantera and Lamb of God concert at the Freedom Mortage Pavilion in Camden, NJ, and I’m still buzzing from the adrenaline. It was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen a lot. The crowd was insane, the sound was loud, and the bands were on fire.
Legacy would be a fitting name for this tour, because let no one be mistaken, this is not a Pantera reunion tour by any means, but much more of a statement and tribute to the band’s unrelenting and dynamic legacy. It will never be called a reunion because there is no way that could ever be true, as we are sadly missing two of the band’s founding members, brothers Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul Abbott…and they left some very big shoes to fill.

Stephen King's novella "The Mist" was originally published in 1980 as part of a horror compilation called "Dark Forces." The impressive compilation included stories by Ray Bradbury, Edward Gorey, Joyce Carol Oates, and Robert Bloch, along with several others. "Dark Forces" was notable in the horror community, and it was widely read by other horror authors. In the 1985 interview book "Faces of Fear," Clive Barker noted "Dark Forces" as the push he needed to start writing his own "Books of Blood."
"The Mist" was easily the standout of the compilation, and would eventually be adapted to film in 2007 by Frank Darabont. The film, like the novella, tells the story of a mysterious fog that rolls in across a small, rural community, cutting off all visibility. Hiding in the mist are unseen creatures. Enormous bugs and land octopodes appear from nowhere and attack the locals. The bulk of Darabont's film takes...

When a stranger at a party asks the title character of HBO’s new comedic miniseries Mrs. Fletcher what she does, she replies, “I watch a lot of porn.” She’s not joking.
Eve Fletcher (a wolfishly perfect Kathryn Hahn) has a day job working at a senior center, but the moment her son Brendan (Jackson White) heads off to college, her imagination and most of her spare minutes are consumed by the same activity for which she once scolded him. (Alternate title suggestion: Hahn If You’re Horny.)

“Money talks nobody walks.” As part of this year’s Greater St. Louis Humanities Festival – which runs from Sept. 23-Oct. 2, and whose theme is “E Pluribus Unum?” – Cinema St. Louis presents a free screening Monday, September 26 at 7 Pm of writer/director John Sayles’ masterful City Of Hope (1991), which compellingly explores the racial attitudes and socioeconomic forces that divide the citizens of the fictional (but all too realistic) Hudson City, N.J.
An ambitious, richly detailed panorama of a city in decline – and rapidly approaching crisis – City Of Hope addresses urban decay in the United States by poking around in Hudson City’s political garbage, turning over and exposing the contaminated dirt of patronage, bribery, and special interests, demonstrating how the toxins trickle down to the middle class and poor, seep into our attitudes, and poison our thoughts. The sprawling cast includes actors from the director’s informal stock company – Joe Morton,...

"Why did you come here? Trying to see what she was hiding from?" FilmRise has released the first trailer for an indie drama called Five Nights in Maine, starring David Oyelowo and Dianne Wiest. Oyelowo plays a man struggling to cope with the tragic loss of his wife, who travels to rural Maine to meet his wife's estranged mother, who is also struggling with grief and guilt. The full cast includes Rosie Perez, Teyonah Parris and Bill Raymond. This looks like a very emotional film that deals with some tough topics in a very raw, very powerful but earnest way. It has played at festivals all over and definitely seems worth seeing. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Maris Curran's Five Nights in Maine, direct from YouTube: A young African American man, reeling from the tragic loss of his wife, travels to rural Maine to seek answers from his estranged mother-in-law,...

One of the top up-and-coming actors teams with an Oscar winner for a new drama this summer. Five Nights in Maine marks the feature debut of writer-director Maris Curran and its just been treated with its first trailer. With a haunting, eerie piano swelling over a rich color palette and praise for the film, Curran looks to be making a strong debut.
The story follows a showdown between a grieving husband (David Oyelowo) and his mother-in-law (Dianne Wiest), both of whom are coping in drastically different ways that could only be volatile. Premiering at Toronto International Film Festival last fall and arriving in theaters this summer, the cast is rounded off by Rosie Perez, Teyonah Parris, and Bill Raymond.
See the trailer below, along with a poster.

Virgil Films acquired the U.S. rights to Foreclosure, a Richard Ledes-directed horror film that stars Michael Imperioli, best known for his work in mob sagas The Sopranos and Goodfellas. This is the third distribution arrangement between Virgil Films and writer-director Ledes, following Fred Won’t Move Out and The Caller, which both starred Elliott Gould. Submarine’s Josh Braun made the deal with Virgil president Joseph Amodei. They’ll put it out VOD early next year. Ged Dickersin is producer and Joseph Infantolino is exec producer. Related: Toronto: Virgil Acquires Bloodworth Thomason’s ‘Bridegroom’ Imperioli plays a man who takes his father-in-law and son to Queens to to the house of a recently deceased relative. The neighborhood has been decimated by foreclosures, but they try to get a fresh start in the house. Then stuff starts happening. Spencer List, Bill Raymond, Wendell Peirce, Meital Dohan, Matt Servitto and David Costabile also star.

Bill Raymond, formidable as Lincoln's Speaker of the House Schuyler Colfax, speaks out on the collaboration between Spielberg and screenwriter Tony Kushner, which has already picked up seven Golden Globe nominations and 10 BAFTA nods. Bill revealed how Daniel Day-Lewis stayed Mr President on and off-set, and how he and Mad Men's Jared Harris (General Ulysses S Grant) have both a Hamlet and Grant connection.

Ah, young Christopher. He always wanted to make it in the horror business. It's too bad that damned Tony had to whack him before he really got a chance to spread his wings. It's a good thing for us his real-life counterpart got away unscathed.
According to Variety "Sopranos" star Michael Imperioli will star in the indie horror-thriller Foreclosure, joining Wendell Pierce ("Treme") and Bill Raymond.
Details are kind of on the lean side of the fence, but we do know that Foreclosure is a ghost story inspired by the mortgage crisis where on a neighborhood block nearly every house sits vacant and bank-owned. Sign of the times, man. Sign of the friggin' times.
Writer-director Richard Ledes begins shooting next week in Queens. Look for more soon as we get it! Bada bing!

Michael Imperioli has been cast as the lead in writer-director Richard Ledes' horror-thriller "Foreclosure."
The former "Sopranos" star joins Wendell Pierce, Bill Raymond, Jeff Burchfield, Meital Dohan, Brandon Gill, Spencer List, Tristan Laurence Perez, William Stone Mahoney and Roger Robinson in the creeper.
With a tagline of "ghosts don't move out," "Foreclosure" sets its action in a nearly empty, economically depressed neighborhood block, amid the real-life context of the mortgage crisis where so many homes are bank-owned.
Ged Dickersin ("City Island") is producing the project, which Ledes will begin shooting in Queens next week.
"Michael Imperioli is a great actor with a deep understanding of filmmaking," said Ledes. "Like a jazz ensemble, I can't imagine a better artist to join the two cats with whom I've had the privilege to work previously and who are back for 'Foreclosure': Wendell Pierce and Bill Raymond."
