Rock icon Lenny Kravitz has revealed he has been living a celibate lifestyle for nearly a decade as part of a profound spiritual journey. The 60-year-old musician, long known as a sex symbol, says he hasn’t had any intimate relations in nine years as he focuses on personal growth.
In a candid interview with The Guardian, Kravitz traced his celibacy back to reflections on his father Sy’s infidelity toward his mother Roxie Roker during their marriage. The “American Woman” singer admitted he once feared following in his dad’s footsteps after his 1991 divorce from actress Lisa Bonet.
“It took me years to grow out of being a player,” Kravitz confessed. “I didn’t want to live that way anymore. I’ve attained a level of wisdom, enlightenment and peace that I’ve never had before.”

"All in the Family" might've been Norman Lear's finest half-hour as a sitcom producer, but I'm not sure he ever put a funnier show on the airwaves than "The Jeffersons." For 11 seasons, Sherman Hemsley's dry-cleaning magnate George Jefferson and Isabel Sanford's good-hearted Louise "Weezy" Jefferson led a stellar cast that delivered edgy-for-network-television laughs revolving around race, class, gender, and whatever happened to be grinding the hot-headed George's gears that particular week. It was the African-American answer to "All in the Family" (on which the characters of George and Weezy originated), and might actually be more shocking today for its fearless deployment of the n-word (particularly early in the series' run).
And if you're making a list of the most memorable theme songs in television history, "The Jeffersons" better be in the top five. Anyone who grew up watching the show in prime time or via syndication should...

With the 96th Academy Awards in the history books, it’s time to become obsessed over the 77th Tony Awards. Nominations are April 30th with the awards set to air on CBS on June 16 from Lincoln Center. Among the contenders for Tony nominations are many musicals based on movies including “Back to the Future,’ “The Notebook,” “Water for Elephants” and “The Outsiders”: high profile revivals such as Ibsen’s “An Enemy of the People” with Jeremy Strong; “Cabaret” with Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne and the Who’s “Tommy”; imports from London and transfers from off-Broadway.
Do you remember the Tony landscape 50 years ago? The 28th annual honors took place April 21, 1974, at the Shubert Theater and aired on ABC. And to say it was a star-studded affair is something of an understatement. Robert Preston, Peter Falk, Cicely Tyson, Florence Henderson hosted; presenters included Al Pacino –-let’s hope he had better...

After Lenny Kravitz watched an early cut of “Rustin,” it wasn’t difficult for him to determine whether or not he’s accept the challenge of writing and performing an original song for the new Netflix film. After watching the movie — which features a tour de force performance from Colman Domingo as the forgotten Black queer icon of the Civil Rights Movement, who was chief in organizing the historic March on Washington in 1963 — Kravitz told IndieWire, “The first thing I felt was, ‘My mother would want me to do this.’”
Speaking to IndieWire over Zoom, the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter admitted he had not heard of the film’s namesake, “which immediately showed me that there was a problem, because I grew up in a family that was very active in the Civil Rights Movement. My mother and her friends and all of those folks in the ’60s, they were in all that.

Louise and George Jefferson were one of the most popular couples of the late ’70s and early ’80s. Played by Isabel Sanford and Sherman Hemsley, the Jefferson couple came from the sitcom All in the Family. They launched their own successful TV show, The Jeffersons.
The sitcom worked so well partly due to the chemistry between Sanford and Hemsley. But did they date in real life?
An overview of ‘The Jeffersons’
The Jeffersons’ story began in All in the Family. They played the next-door neighbors of All in the Family‘s lead couple the Bunkers. The audience responded so well to the Jeffersons that All in the Family creator Norman Lear decided to give them their own show.
The Jeffersons follows the now-wealthy George, Louise, and their son Lionel as they move from Queens to Manhattan after becoming successful. George is presented as a cocky business owner. But his efforts...

Zoë Kravitz has defended being a “nepo baby” in a new interview.
On TikTok, users have shared their fascination with famous figures from the entertainment industry who they didn’t realise had famous or successful parents, christening them “nepo babies” (short for nepotism).
Speaking to GQ, Kravitz, who is the child of musician Lenny Kravitz and actor Lisa Bonet, admitted that she had a “deep insecurity” about her success as an actor being viewed as less because of her parents.
Raising the topic of “nepo babies”, she told the publication that “it’s completely normal for people to be in the family business”.
“It’s literally where last names came from. You were a blacksmith if your family was, like, the Black family,” the High Fidelity star said.
Kravitz said that she was proud to have followed in her parents’ footsteps, as well as those of her grandmother, the pioneering Black actor Roxie Roker.

“All in the Family” was notable for many things — including the fact that it spawned seven other TV series. The influential sitcom was controversial when it first aired on 50 years ago on Jan. 12, 1971, and it went on to confront numerous issues that hadn’t previously been portrayed on television. The show’s spin-off series continued to break boundaries with discussions of abortion, alcoholism and racism. The characters and mood set by “All in the Family” left a big mark on television history, including these seven spin-offs:
“Maude” (1972-78)
The title character, played by Bea Arthur, was a tall, ultra-liberal feminist who drove Archie crazy; she was introduced in as Edith’s cousin in two “All in the Family” episodes in the 1971-72 season.
The two-part season opener for “Maude” in 1973 dealt with the alcoholism of her husband Walter (Bill Macy). Variety said it “underscored that sitcoms this year are treading...

My early memories are waking up to the smell of breakfast and hearing concert DVDs of you,” H.E.R. tells Lenny Kravitz. The 22-year-old singer (real name Gabi Wilson) is talking about growing up the daughter of a dad in a funk-rock cover band. Kravitz, 55, says he was raised in an artistic household too, though he had a slightly different experience; his dad, a TV producer, and his mom, Roxie Roker, who starred on The Jeffersons for 11 years, took him to Lincoln Center and introduced him to friends like Nina Simone.

Lenny Kravitz, 55, is getting ready to walk daughter Zoë, 30, down the aisle! In May, Zoë secretly married her beau Karl Glusman, but she's still planning to have a formal wedding in France, which is reportedly set to take place this weekend. Opening up to People, Lenny chatted about Zoë's big day and the special meaning it holds to him as a father.
"It'll be a trip and emotional for all the reasons anybody would understand," Lenny said. "But also because that's the one thing my mother talked about before she died, that she wanted to live long enough to see her granddaughter get married." In 1995, Lenny's mother, Roxie Roker - who starred on the sitcom The Jeffersons - died of breast cancer.
"When my mother passed [Zoë] was young," he continued. "She remembers her, and has really fond memories, but it didn't get to the point where they'd get into deep conversation.

There’s an episode of 21 Jump Street where the cops go undercover at a performing arts high school. Peter DeLuise’s Doug Penhall has to perform a scene in acting class, and opts to do something from an episode of the classic Fifties sitcom The Honeymooners rather than from a play. He and Johnny Depp’s Tom Hanson do pretty good impressions of Jackie Gleason and Art Carney, but the teacher’s not impressed. He tells Penhall to forget about the TV show and just play the reality of the scene.

In May 2017, Jimmy Kimmel and Justin Theroux announced they were teaming up to produce a live ABC special that would recreate classic sitcoms. Two years later, it’s finally happening. The singer-turned-actor talks about his parents' influence on his new album, his role in The Hunger Games – and his other passion: upholstery and interior design
Funny, I think, you compile a list of questions for a man known for his interracial heritage and for creating music that partakes equally of genres black and white, anticipating a conversation that will range back and forth across the racial faultlines of modern America – as indeed it does – and the first thing he mentions is your skin colour.
"You obviously didn't come here from the UK with that tan, now did you?" says Lenny Kravitz, shaking hands with a friendly smile. A spin-off of Norman Lear's All in the Family, The Jeffersons ran for 11 seasons on CBS. The cast includes Isabel Sanford, Sherman Hemsley, Mike Evans, Roxie Roker, Franklin Cover, Marla Gibbs, Zara Cully, Berlinda Tolbert, Paul Benedict, Damon Evans, and Jay Hammer.
It was a top-rated show for many years. Unfortunately, The Jeffersons was unceremoniously cancelled in 1985 and a true series finale was never made. Hemsley recalls that he found out about the cancellation by reading about it in the newspaper.
Sadly, the cast never recorded a reunion special and most of the castmembers are gone now. Hemsley and Sanford did reunite several times over the years in commercials and various cameos.
Two of the most memorable instances took place on Will Smith's The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air sitcom. In the first appearance, Will and his girlfriend are having...
