The beginning of "A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors" is arguably one of the most relatable opening horror sequences for any disenfranchised youth filled with teenage angst. Introducing our traumatized hero, Kristen (Patricia Arquette), the credits play as Angelo Badalamenti's score transitions into Dokken's "Into the Fire" as Kristen mainlines coffee grinds to stay awake. She's building a papier-maché house of the boarded up structure she sees in her nightmares. Immediately, you empathize with her. She looks like a friend in need (who could also use another pack of cigarettes).
Arquette was the perfect casting choice to be a Nancy for a different generation. As a result, "Dream Warriors" director Chuck Russell had to make an "Elm Street" movie for a different set of teens who would respond to something bigger, badder, and more ambitious than Wes Craven's original and "Freddy's Revenge." The practical effects...

Sleep can literally kill you. That's what makes "A Nightmare on Elm Street" so downright spooky. Upon reading a mind-blowing story about a young Cambodian child, who was terrified to sleep and then died while apparently dreaming, filmmaker Wes Craven conjured up a sleep demon for a screenplay. Freddy Krueger was born out of a real-life wave of similar incidents that swept across America in the 1980s. The 1984 slasher film, produced by New Line's Robert Shaye, saved the company from disaster and put it immovably on the map. It reinvented the slasher genre at a time when the horror subgenre was on its way out. By leaning into the universal human experience of sleep, it brought genuine fear to the surface again.
In the coming years, Freddy Krueger has haunted our dreams across six sequels, a vs. movie with Jason Voorhees, and a 2010 remake, starring Rooney Mara and Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy himself.

One of the most frustrating aspects of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic is the obstinate refusal of many people to follow the very simple guidelines put forward, as they whine about their civil liberties being curtailed by a few minor inconveniences put in place in the interest of preventing countless unnecessary deaths.
In response, and following horror legend Robert Englund’s “Wear your glove” PSA, various actors from throughout the Nightmare On Elm Street saga have come together to create a sinister yet effective public information video to remind people of the basic information imparted that will help stop the spread of infection.
It features an eerie chant by the series’ two most prominent stars, Heather Langenkamp and Lisa Wilcox (Alice from The Dream Master and The Dream Child), riffing on the infamous “One, two, Freddy’s coming for you…” skipping rhyme that’s repeated throughout the films and has wormed...

As genre fans, we are truly lucky to be living in a day and age where we can enjoy a variety of incredible film projects that celebrate nearly every aspect that we love about horror. Sometimes, these documentaries are focused on a specific film or a franchise, sometimes they hone in on one director or actor in particular. But with Horror Noire: A History of Black Horror, director Xavier Burgin has crafted an 83-minute journey spanning over an entire century of filmmaking that not only celebrates the milestones, but also holds Hollywood and society as a whole responsible for how black culture has been represented in cinema, as well as lauding the achievements of black creatives who have helped pave the way for future generations throughout their careers.

Shudder, AMC Networks’ premium streaming service for horror, thriller, and the supernatural, has announced the upcoming premiere of its first original documentary feature, Horror Noire: A History of Black Horror. Based on the acclaimed book of the same name by Dr. Robin R. Means Coleman, Horror Noire takes a critical look at a century of genre films that by turns utilized, caricatured, exploited, sidelined, and embraced both black filmmakers and black audiences.
Dr. Coleman joined Texas A&M University in 2018 as new Vice President and Associate Provost for Diversity.
The film features in-depth interviews with noted directors, writers, and actors, including Ernest Dickerson (Bones), Rusty Cundieff (Tales from the Hood), Jordan Peele (Us), Tina Mabry (Mississippi Damned), Tony Todd (Candyman), Paula Jai Parker (Tales from the Hood), Tananarive Due (My Soul to Keep), and Dr. Robin R. I'm wagering that almost all of you know Chuck Russel's A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors like the back of your hand. For those who don't, it follows the story of a group of troubled, institutionalized teens who, in addition to fighting their own demons while awake, are being terrorized and killed by Freddy in their sleep. In addition, they all have special powers while in the dream world that allow them to take Krueger on. Kristen (Patricia Arquette) can pull other people into her dreams (as well as perform gymnastics). Kincaid (Ken Sagoes) has super strength. Recovering addict Taryn (Jennifer Rubin) is punk-rock beautiful and "bad" with her switchblades. Wheelchair bound Will (Ira Heiden) can walk and turn into the "wizard master"...

If Rock and Shock 2011 doesn't get here soon Glenn Ciano is going to burst. Why is that, you ask? Because Glenn makes his feature film directorial debut with Inkubus, and the film will be having its world premiere this Saturday night at Rock and Shock 2011 in Worchester, Ma and he can't wait to unleash Inkubus on the unsuspecting world.
Headlining a film schedule that includes Chillerama at 5pm and I Am Nancy (introduced by Nancy herself, Heather Langenkamp) at 7pm Inkubus is slotted at the prime 9pm position and will be introduced by director Glenn Ciano and producer Chad A. Verdi.
"Inkubus is a hardcore old-school horror flick," Ciano said. "We want to get out there and deliver a movie to fans we feel they've been waiting 25 years for." And, following their Fans First philosophy (check out the logo for the concept below), The Lab (as Ciano's team calls themselves...

How many jizz jokes can a reviewer put in about haunted movie set movie? Find out on this episode of "Satan's Screener" where Mark wears many hats for no really good reason and looks at Death By Dialogue. It's a strangely cracked out movie with bad audio, yet it's fun to watch because the filmmakers (it was produced by the guys who founded Pm Entertainment) throw everything at the wall to see what sticks. So you got Dream Warrior Mvp, Ken Sagoes, a formula one car that shows up for no reason, a generic 80's metal band, a rubber monster, some cool beheadings, and He-Man influences.
