- During his semi-retirement in the mid-1980s, he gave beginning and advanced drama classes and directed some one-act plays at the Spokane Civic Theatre and Gonzaga University.
- He wrote the memoirs of his life. Even though he died before finishing them, they cover about 2/3 of his life and are included in the recently-published biography entitled "Spotlights & Shadows: The Albert Salmi Story."
