- The 28-year-old writer Sonali Senroy was married to director-producer Harisadhan Dasgupta, had two children, and was pregnant with a third when she met legendary Italian director Roberto Rossellini. Their romance ignited a fierce scandal, along with protestations held in Mumbai protesting their lack of decency. In the midst of this controversy, Sonali opted to leave with Roberto to Paris and eventually living with him in Italy. There they raised her son Gil, who was adopted by Roberto and is now a New York-based film producer, and had one daughter, Raffaella Rossellini, together. Her oldest son, Raja Dasgupta, she abandoned when she married Rossellini.
