Four years ago, actor Dave Franco made his feature directorial debut with the horror film The Rental, which happened to star his wife Alison Brie. Now Deadline reports that Franco and Brie are set to share the screen in the upcoming horror film Together, which they will also be producing, with first-time feature filmmaker Michael Shanks writing and directing.
Tango, Picturestart, and 30West are providing the financing, while Picturestart, Tango, 1.21, and Princess Pictures produce alongside Franco and Brie.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but Deadline was able to learn that Together is about “the horror of co-dependency, told in a unique way.” Of course, they’re not ready to tell us just how the film will be approaching this subject matter in a unique way.

Actors and married couple Alison Brie and Dave Franco previously collaborated on Franco’s feature directorial debut, The Rental, in 2020. Now, the pair are set to co-star in a new horror film, Together.
Variety reports that the horror movie feature hails from first-time writer/director Michael Shanks.
Together will explore “the horror of co-dependency told in a unique way,” though additional plot details remain under wraps at this time. That Brie and Franco are married should add an interesting layer to the co-dependency horror, which might fall under the “unique” descriptor of this horror feature.
Brie appeared in Scream 4 before starring in Franco’s The Rental, which saw two couples celebrating a weekend getaway, only to face grueling terror when an imminent threat forces them to expose well-kept secrets. The couple also appeared together onscreen in ensemble comedy The Little Hours and A24’s The Disaster Artist.

The writer and director of slasher-comedy Freaky are reuniting for a brand new time-traveling slasher movie titled Time Cut, with Christopher Landon producing and Michael Kennedy writing the script alongside Hanna Macpherson (“Into the Dark”). MacPherson also directs Time Cut, which has been described as “Back to the Future meets Scream.”
We’ve learned today that Time Cut is coming to Netflix in 2024!
In the upcoming slasher, “A teenage girl travels back to the early 2000s to stop a vicious killer from murdering her sister.”
It sounds like this one is cut from the same cloth as Freaky, Happy Death Day, It’s a Wonderful Knife and Totally Killer, part of a new breed of horror-comedy-slasher hybrids.
Madison Bailey (Outer Banks) and Antonia Gentry (Ginny & Georgia) star alongside Michael Shanks, Griffin Gluck, Rachael Crawford, Jordan Pettle, Megan Best, Samuel Braun, Sydney Sabiston, and Kataem O’Connor.
Time Cut features a story by Michael Kennedy.

TV drama writers obsess over audience engagement, with a huge emphasis on personal stakes for their characters. The biggest of these is the prospect of death. But 70+ years of TV have taught us that mortality is rare for characters played by a show's stars. So, when actors leave a show or the decision is made to cut a character, writers see a golden opportunity to play the ultimate stakes game by going terminal.
It's safe to say character departures always upset a segment of a show's audience, however small. But not all such deaths are created equal. Some generate a wave of complaints, others a tsunami of outrage. It's the deaths of characters we love or love to hate, and those especially shocking or egregious, that drive fans to write all-caps messages, accompanied by many exclamation points, in fanzines, letter columns, and social media.
Here are 14 of the most controversial of the controversial.

Stargate Sg-1 was a very popular science fiction television show that ran for 10 years, from 1997 all the way up until 2007. It had a core cast of just four people, and it also had some of the most interesting storylines and plot twists that you could ever hope to find in any program, regardless of the subject matter. The television show itself was something that came to fruition because of a popular movie, also called Stargate. By the time it was all said and done, there would be two more movies to come on the heels of Stargate

Oh my bones! This is instantly one of my favorite animated short films I've ever seen. Seriously. Rebooted is a live-action + stop-motion animation hybrid short film made by Australian filmmaker Michael Shanks (not the one from Stargate). The 12-minute film stars an adorable stop-motion animated skeleton, pretty much straight out of Ray Harryhausen's films. Now out of work as an "out-of-date special effect", Phil the skeleton takes drastic measures when he learns the film for which he was created is being rebooted without him. Starring Phil, the skeleton, "as himself", along with Glen Hunwick and Peter Paltos. I really love everything about this. Not only does the stop-motion animation blend perfectly into the real world footage, but it looks and feels authentic, it's all so perfectly animated and realized. And beyond that, the story of this funny skeleton guy (and all the other special effect friends he meets) is so charming.

The Jsa are on the way, as Dwayne Johnson recently confirmed that his Black Adam movie would introduce the Justice Society to moviegoing audiences for the first time. This corroborates reports saying that The Rock’s anti-villain is set to battle Hawkman in the film, rather than a more obvious choice of hero such as Superman or Shazam. And given the character’s lesser-known status to wider audiences, Warner Bros. may want to nab a recognizable face to play him.

If your first thought when the college admissions scandal first broke was, “This seems like exactly the type of material that would benefit from an even-handed documentary shedding light on the evils of the Ivy League industrial complex and an educational system that prioritizes wealth and privilege over individual character and merit,” then you’re about to be sorely disappointed, sis, because that movie has not happened! However, if your first thought was, “Wow, what a mess, I can’t wait to see the Jewish best friend from Adventures in Babysitting...

We salute 10 memorable guest roles on Stargate Sg-1, featuring Seth, The Keeper and more...
As with our previous features, this is a list designed to celebrate the very best performances by guest actors in Stargate Sg-1. However, we did come across a couple of challenges in compiling the list for this particular series. We’ve defined ‘guest performance’ as an actor playing a character who is not a regular or recurring character – so the actor must have played the character no more than twice in this particular series (though they may have appeared more often in other branches of the franchise). Stargate Sg-1 liked to re-use its best guest characters as often as possible, frequently bringing back characters like Claudia Black’s Vala Mal Doran after what was initially a one-off appearance, which is great as the audience get to enjoy them again, but seriously reduces the number of eligible performances.

Star Wars fans have a complicated relationship with George Lucas. On one hand, he is the man who helped create this once-in-a-lifetime, magical film experience that can never be replicated. On the other hand, he botched the crap out that magical film experience when he messed with the original trilogy, adding so many unnecessary special effects and of course, the edited "Han shot first" scene that will send any Star Wars fan into a fit of rage. And then there were the prequels. There isn't much more to say other than…siiiiiigh. So when you watch this fan-made George Lucas version of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer created by Michael Shanks, it looks really ridiculous but deep down, you know...
