The UK’s Independent Entertainment is representing global sales, excluding Australia and New Zealand. Bonsai Films will distribute the film theatrically in Australia and New Zealand.

Multi award-winning Filipina actress Ruby Ruiz has landed her first major screen role following her appearance in Amazon’s “Expats.” She will lead “First Light,” the feature directorial debut of James. J. Robinson.

Maricel Soriano will star in Rain Valdez’s upcoming trans-led romantic comedy “Re-Live: A Tale of an American Island Cheerleader,” Variety has learned exclusively. Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story and other winners of the 2011 Metro Manila Film Festival-Philippines (Mmff-p) Awards have been released. The 37th Annual Metro Manila Film Festival-Philippines “is the annual film festival held in Manila. The festival, which runs from the 25th of December to the first week of January, focuses on locally-produced films…During the course of the festival, no foreign movies are shown across the Philippines. Moreover, only films approved by the jurors of the Mmff will be shown. One of the festival highlights is the parade of floats during the opening of the festival. The floats, each one representing a movie entry for the festival, parade down Roxas Boulevard, while the stars for films ride on them.” This year’s awards ceremony was held at the “Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World Manila in Pasay City”.
