Progress continues to be incremental in front of and behind television cameras in Hollywood. An October 2021 UCLA Television Diversity study examined 461 scripted television shows airing or streaming during the 2019-20 season. It revealed that only 32.1 percent of scripted broadcast network shows, 28.1 percent on cable TV, and 26.8 percent on streaming platforms, featured majority non-white casts. Each category saw an increase of roughly 2-3 percent over the previous season. In summary, despite popular claims of a “renaissance” for Bipoc creatives in Hollywood (especially for African Americans), there’s still much work to be done on the matter of inclusion in all job areas.

ViacomCBS Intl. Studios Unveils its First Animated Series: ’Gloria Wants to Know It All’ (Exclusive)
ViacomCBS Intl. Studios (Vis), the fast expanding international content production arm of ViacomCBS, is driving for the first time into animation, partnering with Marc Anthony and Argentina’s Juan José Campanella, writer-director of the Academy Award winning “The Secret in Their Eyes.”
First up is a development deal on animated series “Gloria Wants to Know It All,” alongside Anthony’s Mangnus Studios, Campanella’s Mundoloco Animation Studios in Buenos Aires and Miami-based Laguna Media, co-founded by Carla Curiel and a family entertainment company committed to creating culturally relevant content promoting diversity.
Targeting pre-school children, “Gloria Wants to Know It All” turns on Gloria, an eight-year-old alpaca from the big city. International hit series .The Wannabes Starring Savvy. will now air in Israel. Stern-LeMaire Productions announces that the teen hit show, .The Wannabes Starring Savvy. has secured additional international distribution and will now air in Israel on Noga Channel 8 beginning on June 10, 2010. The largest children.s television network in the country, Noga has over 90% regular television viewership of Israeli children 6-12 years old. After successfully premiering in Australia last fall the show now airs twice a day on ABC1 and ABC3. Created by Doreen Spicer, the original series will continue to roll out to other countries worldwide. The television series stars the teenage musical group Savvy who recently formed a strategic alliance with The Jonas Group.

Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato are headed back to Camp Rock, but the sequel to last year's top-rated cable telecast will feature a new director and writer, not to mention a plot that borrows from Shakespeare.
"Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam" will begin production this summer and debut next year on Disney Channel.
The story has the characters played by Lovato and Kevin, Nick and Joe Jonas returning to their beloved Camp Rock, only to discover that some of the students and instructors have ditched it for nearby rival Camp Star.
Other major players returning for the sequel include Meaghan Jette Martin, Maria Canals-Barrera and Alyson Stoner. Daniel Fathers is back as Camp Rock's head honcho.

Berlin -- German kids channel Super RTL has picked up free-tv rights to live action comedy "The Wannabes" from Showcase Entertainment.
Created by Doreen Spicer, who wrote the screenplay to the Disney Channel's hit movie "Jump In!," "The Wannabes" follows a group of kids attending an uptight arts academy who really want to become pop stars. Showcase first unveiled the series to buyers at Natpe.
Production on the first 26x30' season begins this month with Eric Dean Seaton ("Sonny with a Chance") directing. Delivery is set for the first quarter of 2010.
