Another week, another casting change on General Hospital.
Lindsay Hartley on Tuesday filled in as Sam McCall while Gh mainstay Kelly Monaco took some personal time. But her absence will be brief; she’s back on Friday.
Hartley has filled in for Monaco before on the ABC sudser.
News of Monaco’s absence comes after it was revealed last week that Nicole Paggi will be taking over for Kirsten Storms as Maxie Jones in Port Charles. Storms will be out for a few days.
And a day after the Daytime Emmys aired in December, fans discovered that first-time Emmy winner Eden McCoy was Mia as character Josslyn Jacks; someone else was appearing in her place.
Turns out it is actress Courtney Fulk filling in for McCoy — a surprise development since Gh didn’t give viewers a heads up that a temporary change was in the works. But a spokesperson for...

David Fincher is one of the most important filmmakers of his generation – endlessly praised, shamelessly ripped off and somehow still undervalued (He still hasn’t won a Best Director Oscar).
His work conjures up darkened hallways, dogged detectives and crazed killers. The word “Fincherian” has come to describe something twisted and somehow beautiful. As an artist he frequently pushes the boundaries of what is possible technologically, while also playing with the comfort level of his audience. If it doesn’t feel a little bit dangerous, is it even a David Fincher movie?
With “The Killer,” in theaters now and on Netflix on November 10, Fincher takes us on another wild journey, this time alongside a sardonic hit man (Michael Fassbender). In celebration of “The Killer,” we thought we’d look back at his entire filmography. It’s a journey as dark and labyrinthine as anything the filmmaker could cook up.

Linda Blair cemented her place in cinematic history with her role as Regan in 1973's "The Exorcist." She played a young girl possessed by a demon, and her performance proved so shocking that audiences didn't know how to react. "People were running up the aisles and into the lobby, some of them making it out to the street before vomiting, while others did it en route," Nat Segaloff wrote in his book "The Exorcist Legacy: 50 Years of Fear" (via The New York Post).
Blair reprised her role in "Exorcist II: The Heretic," and when Ellen Burstyn returned for 2023's "The Exorcist: Believer," many fans wondered if Blair would follow. Director David Gordon Green told Fandango that she consulted on the film, specifically advising new stars Lidya Jewett and Olivia O'Neill on how to deal with the troublesome subject matter. On Friday nights, IndieWire After Dark takes a feature-length beat to honor fringe cinema in the streaming age.
First, the spoiler-free pitch for one editor’s midnight movie pick — something weird and wonderful from any age of film that deserves our memorializing.
Then, the spoiler-filled aftermath as experienced by the unwitting editor attacked by this week’s recommendation.
The Pitch: If This Is What A.I. Sex Looks Like, Maybe We Have Nothing to Worry About?
Cinematic dystopias come in many forms. Ridley Scott looked to classic film noir and Asian urban architecture to craft his fallen neon hellscape in “Blade Runner.” Bong Joon-ho juxtaposed railroad opulence with an arctic wasteland in “Snowpiercer.” And for “Creative Control,” Benjamin Dickinson dared to imagine what would happen if characters from a Noah Baumbach movie could make their own interactive porn.
Dickinson’s 2015 sci-fi drama obviously isn’t a dystopian film in the conventional sense.

“It’s like asking a woman when she’s crowning, ‘Do you want to give birth, again?’ ” explains Patricia Arquette of being asked about future directing ambitions while still waiting to screen her debut. “You’re like, ‘Not now!’ ”
Arquette’s feature, Gonzo Girl, is an adaptation of the book by Cheryl Della Pietra, who drew on her time as Hunter S. Thompson’s assistant in the 1990s for a fictionalized story about an aspiring writer who is tasked with extracting the latest novel from a drug-addled iconoclast. The script first came to the Oscar-winning actress, who had begun talking to her agents about nascent directorial aspirations, as an offer to star. In reading it, she saw the chance to explore themes, according to Arquette, that included — but were not limited to — “celebrity distortion, co-dependence, addiction, unhealed wounds, art, joy, life, sexuality.”

The Emmy winner collaborates again with “Severance” and “Escape at Dannemora” director Ben Stiller for Apple TV+ dark comedy “High Desert.” Arquette plays Peggy, an on-again-off-again addict who decides to make a new start after the death of her beloved mother, with whom she lived in the small desert town of Yucca Valley, California, and makes a life-changing decision to become a private investigator.
Matt Dillon, Christine Taylor, Brad Garrett, Weruche Opia, Bernadette Peters, Rupert Friend, and Keir O’Donnell also star in the series. “High Desert” is created and written by Nancy Fichman (“Grace and Frankie”), Katie Ford (“Miss Congeniality”), and Jennifer Hoppe (“Nurse Jackie”), who all also serve as executive producers. Both Stiller and Arquette serve as executive producers.
Jay Roach (“Meet the Parents”) directs all eight episodes of the half-hour series.

Rick Springfield was a massive music star in the ’80s, but even he had to bow to his record label’s demands. In 1975, executives shelved one of his albums for being too “suggestive.” But the “Jessie’s Girl” singer’s previously unreleased classic rock songs will soon go public.

Springfield began his music career at 13 years old when he learned to play the guitar. As a teen, he performed in various bands and finally found success with the pop-rock group Zoot. Despite releasing a handful of songs, the band broke up in 1971.
Springfield soon launched his solo career with his debut single, “Speak to the Sky.” He also released a few albums with Columbia Records, including 1973’s Comic Book Heroes and 1974’s Mission: Magic!

David Fincher learned early on to shed his idealism. Starting in the mid 1980s, Fincher cut his directorial teeth on music videos, working for high-profile artists like Rick Springfield, Loverboy, Billy Idol, Aerosmith, Paula Abdul, The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, and Madonna. It was Fincher behind the videos for "Vogue," "Express Yourself," and "Oh Father." The leap to feature films seemed logical, and Fincher signed on to make a second sequel to the 1979 sci-fi hit "Alien."
Anyone who has watched the harshly but aptly titled documentary "Wreckage and Rage," or even the DVD's relatively flowerier hour-long making-of documentary about "Alien³," knows that it was rough going from the start....

Fox has renewed its musical guessing game “I Can See Your Voice” for a second season, the broadcast network said Wednesday.
Host Ken Jeong will return for Season 2 later in 2021, as will Cheryl Hines and Adrienne Bailon-Houghton as “permanent” celebrity detectives.
The first season of “I Can See Your Voice” featured Hines and Bailon-Houghton as they joined a rotating panel of celebrity detectives and a musical superstar to help one contestant tell the difference between good and bad singers — without ever hearing them sing a note. With $100,000 on the line, the contestant attempts to weed out the bad “Secret Voices” from the good, based on a mystifying lip sync challenge, interrogation and a series of clues. In the end, the singer whom the contestant picks reveals if they are good or bad in a duet performance with the musical superstar, resulting in an amazing musical collaboration — or a totally hilarious train wreck.

In the four-year gap between seasons of The Eric Andre Show, hundreds of bad television shows have come and gone. Some are still airing. When Adult Swim’s manic riff on the talk show format returns on Oct. 26, there’s one title that Eric Andre hopes to maintain: the “Bird Up” segment remaining the worst show on TV. “I hold that trophy high,” Andre says with a laugh in an interview with Den of Geek promoting the new season.

Whether it was the snarky but sincere pop of Fountains of Wayne and Ivy, the ‘60s retro of Tom Hanks’ “That Thing You Do!” or the Broadway fare of “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” Adam Schlesinger’s music reached far beyond his public profile. The master songwriter passed away Wednesday morning at the age of 52 from complications related to coronavirus.
The reaction from friends, family and fans on social media was as swift as it was diverse.
Tom Hanks, the star and producer of “That Thing You Do!” sent a heartfelt Tweet about the songwriter with whom he worked on the 1996 film, and even referred to the fictional band in the film, The Oneders. “There would be no Playtone without Adam Schlesinger, without his ‘That Thing You Do!,’” Hanks wrote, referring to his own company. “He was a One-der. Lost him to Covid-19. Terribly sad today.”
