This week's geek-worthy crowdfunding projects include a Nes game collecting road trip, a 3D platformer, and two great-looking films...
It's great to see so many worthy crowdfunding ideas get the cash they need. This weekly post's only been going for a short while, but most of the projects we've covered in previous weeks have already secured funding, and the creators behind them are therefore free to get on with the hard bit: seeing their idea through to completion.
Steve Sullivan's documentary about the late entertainer Chris Sievey and his alter-ego Frank Sidebottom has already doubled its goal of £20,000, and its campaign may just have ended as you read this. Andy Baker's eye-catching cowboy comic The Good, The Bad And The Monkey broke through its goal of £10,000.
We're certainly not trying to take credit for their success - instead, we're just glad to see such great projects flourish.

A Kickstarter campaign has been launched for an official Frank Sidebottom documentary.
Being Frank: The Chris Sievey Story is seeking a minimum target of £20,000 to tell the tale of the cult comedy creation, known for his distinctive oversized papier-mâché head.
Sidebottom's creator Chris Sievey was diagnosed with cancer in 2010 and died later that year.
Filmmaker Steve Sullivan has started the appeal to make a film exploring "Chris's complete artistic output, focusing not just on the hysterical career of Frank Sidebottom, but also Chris's music career and his post-punk band The Freshies".
The Kickstarter page is open until May 30 and has already raised over £11,000 after just two days.
Pledges of £50 or more will receive a limited edition 'I Should Be So Lucky' envelope featuring memorabilia or a "paper thingy" connected to Chris's life and work, and a certificate of provenance signed by Chris's brother Martin.
Higher pledges will receive 'I Should...

On the latest episode of "Sullivan & Son" (Thu., 10 p.m. Et on TBS) lawyer-turned-barkeep Steve Sullivan (Steve Byrne) was celebrating the 50th anniversary of his bar.
However, after Steve and his girlfriend Melanie (Valerie Azlynn) discovered that his grandfather had won the bar from her grandfather in a card game, Melanie decided she was owed half.
Desperate to get her back, Steve faked a marriage proposal. Playing -- and beating -- him at his own game, Melanie accepted: "Yes, I’ll marry you!" she cried.
Eventually Steve had to admit he wanted to back out of the phoney engagement. As a triumphant Melanie put it, "Fifty years ago, your grandfather outplayed my grandfather ... and 50 years later, I outplayed you."
"Sullivan & Son" airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. Et on TBS.

Chicago – TBS has been an unusual network over the last couple years, building a lot of comedy success off of repeats of hits like “The Big Bang Theory” and “Family Guy” while also satisfying a loyal audience for comedians like Tyler Perry and his line of sitcoms and Conan O’Brien and his talk show. However, an expected slate of original sitcoms never really surfaced until this year when “Men at Work” was a surprising hit that they hope to build on with tonight’s premiere of “Sullivan & Son,” another old-fashioned laughfest built on cliches but with a confidence that gives it moments that work.

TBS has picked up a second new comedy series, Sullivan And Son, starring comedian Steve Byrne and executive produced by Vince Vaughn and Peter Billingsley. The show, which has received 10-episode order for a summer premiere, joins Men At Work, which received a series order last month. For the second series slot, TBS was to choose between two pilots – Sullivan And Son and the Conan O’Brien-produced Bff. The two most important things that can happen to you in a mainstream movie are being killed and having an orgasm. Sometimes in facial close-ups it's hard to tell one from the other. When Pauline Kael saw that wall poster in Italy saying "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang," she sensed she was onto something.
I've recently seen two movies centering on orgasms. The most intense is Steve McQueen's "Shame," starring Michael Fassbender as a sex addict. I think I'll save my observations about that one for my review. Hardly less intense was Louis Malle's "Damage" (1992), about an affair between a man and his son's bride-to-be. It made an impression on me at the time, and I was scouting it for a possible Great Movie review. It reminded me how important orgasms can be in the cinema.

Voted “10th most popular Playmate of the Century” by Playboy Magazine, Miss December 1968 was always number one to the many fans of Russ Meyer’s 1970 cult epic Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls. Cynthia Myers was just 17 when she shot her Playboy spread. Hef’s policy at the time was that a model had to be 18 for his magazine, so they didn’t publish the photos until after her birthday. She was still a Catholic high school girl when the issue came out and the nuns were so upset at her baring her substantial assets, they refused to let her graduate with the rest of her class. it's not Tuesday but it's time for a Top Ten anyway... as this is yesterday's news already!
AMPAS used to hide their membership roster like the vote tallies but in the information age, they've opened up. Now we get to see the whole list of new invitees each year. I wonder how they keep they're membership around 6,000 given how many people they invite annual. Maybe enough people reject the offer, stop paying their dues, or pass from this mortal coil each year to balance it out?
You can read the full list of recipients at Indiewire, but as is the Film Experience tradition, we like to pinpoint the newest (potential) members whose future ballots we'd most like to see. So let's have at it.
New Academy Member Ballots We Most Want To See

They're two separate people but we'd like to imagine them filling out their ballots together inbetween sets.

HollywoodNews.com: Adam Sandler is gearing up for the release of his new film, “Grown Ups,” and has just been announced as one of 135 artists selected to join the Academy.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is extending invitations to join the organization to 135 artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures. Those who accept the invitation will be the only additions in 2010 to the Academy’s roster of voting members.
“The work of these individuals has been appreciated by moviegoers all around the world,” said Academy President Tom Sherak. “The Academy is proud to invite each and every one of them.”
The Academy’s membership policies would have allowed a maximum of 180 new members in 2010, but as in other recent years, the several branch committees endorsed fewer candidates than were proposed to them. Voting membership in the organization has now held...
