Timothée Chalamet has proven twice within just the last three months that he is a true movie star. He’s one of the few young actors right now who can open a movie, whether it’s a family-friendly romp like “Wonka” or a sci-fi epic like “Dune: Part Two.”
That both of those were released by Warner Bros. is motivation for the studio to lock his services down as best they can. And so they have.
On Tuesday, WB film group heads Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy announced they’ve signed a multi-year, first-look feature film deal with Chalamet in which he will collaborate with the studio on future projects as both an actor and a producer. No specific projects were announced today.
Chalamet, 28, is still new to the producing game — but no longer a rookie. He produced Luca Guadagnino’s “Bones and All,” which was greenlit by MGM...

Denis Villeneuve and Timothée Chalamet have had quite the ride together in the wild world of filmmaking. They were all over the headlines for teaming up in the Dune series, but did you know that the 56-year-old once said no to the actor?
Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides in Dune: Part Two
He thought Chalamet didn’t fit the bill for a role in Prisoners because of his physique. Yet, destiny worked in mysterious ways, and they ended up collaborating anyway. It was a classic Hollywood tale of ups and downs, where even big names like them faced rejection and tough competition for the spotlight.

Timothée Chalamet would only sign up to a superhero movie if he approved of the script and the director. The 28-year-old star has revealed the sage advice his 'Don't Look Up' co-star Leonardo DiCaprio gave him, including not to sign up for a DC or Marvel movie. He told The New York Times: "Well, Leonardo DiCaprio said to me, 'No superhero movies, no hard drugs.' Which I thought was very good. I follow them both!"Turns out, Christopher Nolan's 2008 DC Batman blockbuster 'The Dark Knight' inspired him to become an actor in the first place. However, he added: "The movie that made me want to act is a superhero movie, 'The Dark Knight'. If the script was great, if the director was great, I’d have to consider it."The 'Dune: Part Two' star came close to a superhero role...

It’s no secret that a certain wall-crawling hero was Stan Lee’s favorite Marvel creation, with the comic book legend having so much of a soft spot for Spider-Man that he modeled J. Jonah Jameson on a grumpier version of himself. Still, despite Spider-Man’s introduction in 1962, he didn’t get the Hollywood treatment until Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 40 years later in 2002.
And in the years before and after Tobey Maguire first swung across the New York City skyline, there’s been a galaxy of stars who’ve nearly donned the red and blue suit. So from those who’ve gone on to lead billion-dollar franchises of their own to others who’ve landed other roles in the Spider-Verse, here are 10 actors who nearly played Spider-Man.
Heath Ledger
The search for Tinsel Town’s Spider-Man went through several iterations, but when Raimi eventually took the reins, Tobey Maguire wasn’t his first choice.

On the set of “Call Me by Your Name,” director Luca Guadagnino gave his star Timothée Chalamet a suggestion. He wanted Chalamet to use his nose to convey the obsession his character, Elio, has with the older grad student, Oliver (Armie Hammer), who’s staying with Elio’s parents in Italy for the summer. “For Elio to try to smell what the scent of Oliver was in his clothing was a way to possess him, to own him, to really imprint Oliver on himself, the way in which you do when you are obsessed with someone and you really want to seduce that person,” Guadagnino said during a recent interview with IndieWire.
The decision of how to play this moment of solitude and abandon was left to Chalamet. “We did [the scene] four different ways that were all radically different and all on scales of physical expression — and everything felt gravy, I...

Neon will release the film in the U.S. that will start filming in Greece in August
David Cronenberg has set his first directorial feature since 2014, “Crimes of the Future,” with a cast that includes Viggo Mortensen, Léa Seydoux and Kristen Stewart.
“Crimes of the Future” comes from Neon and Serendipity Point Films, with Neon set to release the sci-fi movie in the U.S. Production aims to kick off this August in Athens, Greece.
“Crimes of the Future” is Cronenberg’s first original screenplay since 1999’s “eXistenZ.” The movie is a deep dive into the not-so-distant future where humankind is learning to adapt to its synthetic surroundings and the fast-spreading “Accelerated Evolution Syndrome.” This evolution moves humans beyond their natural state and into a metamorphosis, altering their biological makeup. While some embrace the limitless potential of transhumanism, others attempt to police it.

“Call Me by Your Name” opened Thanksgiving weekend with stellar reviews and the best limited release numbers of 2017. Sony Pictures Classics acquired the elegiac romantic drama in 2016, and with a finished movie by summer’s end, screened it for Sundance programmers who immediately wanted the film in its lineup.
Now, “Call Me by Your Name” has become a consensus favorite among critics and audiences. It’s simple yet sophisticated, an escapist summer fantasy that feels authentic, and a lovely romance between 17-year-old Elio (Timothée Chalamet) and his professor father’s 24-year-old grad student Oliver (Armie Hammer). And it’s that rare four-quadrant specialty hit: embraced by straights and gays, women and men, young and old.
As classics scholars, Professor Perlman (Michael Stuhlbarg) and Oliver explore the eroticism of Greek statues and fine art; Perlman admires the Grecian ideal of love between two men; he wishes he had experienced what Elio and Oliver share that summer.

Since helming Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Rupert Wyatt has parted ways with a number of studios over apparent creative differences. That includes Fox’a Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and The Equalizer at Sony, but despite that, it still came as a surprise when it was revealed that he would no longer be taking the helm of X-Men spinoff, Gambit.
Predictably, it seems the split ultimately came down to creative differences (and not the scheduling issues mentioned when it was revealed that he wouldn’t be directing).
While Fox were confident that Wyatt would deliver when it came to making a good Gambit movie – no easy task for any filmmaker, in all honesty, given what a random choice for his own movie the Cajun mutant is – it sounds like he simply began losing interest in the project when it became clear that he wasn’t...

Prolific multi-camera comedy director James Burrows has signed with Wme. The move is a logical step for the Emmy winner following his agent Bob Broder’s departure from ICM Partners in fall 2012 to run the company of another longtime client, Chuck Lorre. Unlike the common representation practice where a client is handled by a team of agents, Burrows and Broder had an old-school relationship, with Broder the only agent Burrows had ever had and the only person in his life representation-wise. Despite his exit from agenting, Broder has remained very involved in Burrows’ career and will continue to play a major advisory role going forward. The Wme signing stems from a long-standing relationship Burrows has had with the agency and its predecessor Wma, which has represented the estate of his father, Broadway writer-director Abe Burrows, and has worked with James on various theater projects. Oyelowo, who has been doing fine work for a long time in everything from Jack Reacher to Red Tails, The Help and Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, had been with Wme. Agent hits back at studio's decision to dump the actor from cast of comic-book blockbuster The Avengers
It had seemed liked a no-brainer. Edward Norton, the star of 2007's The Incredible Hulk, would once again transform into the not-so-jolly green giant for Marvel studios' forthcoming film, The Avengers, which will unite a number of the comic book company's best known characters. But over the weekend, producers announced they would be recasting the role, triggering an instant fan backlash and an angry response from Norton's agent, Brian Swardstrom.
Swardstrom apparently took exception to a statement from Marvel's head of production, Kevin Feige, which hinted that Norton might not have shown sufficient team spirit during the casting process for the new film, which is to be directed by Joss Whedon. Already lined up to star are Robert Downey Jr (as Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Samuel L...

On Friday, Hitflix reported that Marvel would not be calling Ed Norton to play Bruce Banner/The Hulk in The Avengers. After giving it a few days, this news is definitely confirmed. Unfortunately, Norton is definitely out.
Let’s start at the beginning. Friday, Hitflix broke the story that Marvel would not be asking Edward Norton to return as The Hulk. On the surface it sounded as if the much-publicized disagreements between Norton and Marvel over The Incredible Hulk had continued, and that creative differences had led to the split. However, this was definitely not the case. Norton was very interested in returning for The Avengers, had been approached by Marvel, and was in the process of civil negotiations. He had even met with Joss Whedon, and everything was going smoothly until seemingly out-of-the-blue Marvel decided to “go in another direction.”

Marvel Studios recently announced that Edward Norton would not be reprising his role of Bruce Banner/The Incredible Hulk for the 2012 movie "The Avengers."
In the statement from Kevin Feige, President of Production at Marvel, there were a few shots at Norton, implying that he doesn't embody "the creativity and collaborative spirit" of the ensemble surrounding the movie.
Norton's agent Brian Swardstrom fired back at Feige, calling his remarks "mean-spirited" and "accusatory." Now Norton himself has taken to Facebook to express his personal feelings.
"As most of you know, I don't like to talk much about the business of making movies because it means a lot to me to protect the audience's fullest enjoyment of the 'magic' that films can have.
But I am so appreciative of the outpouring of support from fans of the Hulk and the Avengers that I feel it would be rude not to respond. So...

The fanboy zones on the internet have pretty much 'Hulked out' in a mass shirt-shredding rage following the revelation at the weekend that Edward Norton has been dropped from The Avengers.
Marvel Studios confirmed to Hitfix that Norton will not be brought back to play Hulk alter-ego Bruce Banner in the team-up film, with president of production Kevin Feige saying the decision was not based on monetary factors but "rooted in the need for an actor who embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members."
It brought a swift response from the actor's agent, Brian Swardstrom of Wme, and tonight we've heard from Norton himself.
In addition, it has already been followed by a report of a possible replacement for Norton. Marvel had hoped to unveil its cast at the San Diego Comic-Con later this month so is understandably moving quickly behind the scenes.
