It’s Monday, so we all know what that means! Yes, it’s time for another rundown of DVDs and Blu-ray’s hitting stores online and offline this week. It’s a very light week this week, so let us breakdown the new releases and highlight what you should – and shouldn’t – be buying from today, February 4th 2013.
Pick Of The Week

After a short absence (for medical reasons and not court-ordered community service), we’re back just in time for your last minute holiday shopping needs. Unsurprisingly, The Dark Knight Rises and The Dark Knight Trilogy are still at the top of the Blu-Ray sales charts. If, for some mind-blowing reason that I can’t even begin to fathom, you’re undecided about adding the former to your Blu-Ray collection, you can check out our The Dark Knight Rises Blu-Ray review.
This week, the Total Recall remake gets a home release, Resident Evil: Retribution brings hordes of zombies home for the holidays, and relive the glory days of the 90s with the first live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film.

[Update: A FUNimation rep has confirmed that Freddie Prinze Jr. will be reprising his role as Vega in Paragon Lost.]
Ever want to know more about the tatted-up space Marine James Vega and his life before joining the Normandy crew? On November 13th, the Mass Effect 3 prequel anime hits DVD and Blu-ray from FUNimation from animation studio Production Ig.
The feature pits Vega and his Special Forces team against an onslaught of Collectors looking to snatch up a human colony.
Paragon Lost is based on a script by Henry Gilroy, a regular writer for Cartoon Network's Star Wars: The Clone Wars and among his healthy list of credits, he even got to write one of the early Scarecrow episodes on Batman: The Animated Series. Veteran animator Atsushi Takeuchi who's served in the art and production departments of several anime series and features including Ghost in the Shell and 2007's Appleseed: Ex Machina.

As everyone's favorite space bro from Mass Effect 3 gets his own animated feature, studios Production I.G. and T.O. Entertainment release a host of character, weapon, location, and creature sketche.
The prequel feature details a battle between Alliance Marines led by James Vega and an onslaught of Collectors on a human colony. If you've played Mass Effect 3, you'll know that tattoo and punching enthusiast Vega (voiced by Freddie Prinze Jr.) harbors some guilt about a past mission, guilt that makes his bristle at leaving Earth when its overrun at the start of the final game in the trilogy.
The film is directed by Atsushi Takeuchi, who previously helmed an episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars along with episodes of 1992's Tenchi Muyô! Ryô Ôki. Paragon Lost is written by Henry Gilroy, another Clone Wars vet who also wrote for The Tick, Justice League, and Iron Man: Armored Adventures.
