- Managed the cheese department at the Brattleboro (Vermont) Food Co-op after his departure from Hollywood.
- Served as a captain in the army during World War II.
- Retired from show business, Henry Tewksbury and his wife relocated to Vermont, where he is known as "Henry the Cheeseman" at the Brattleboro Food Co-op, and has written a book, "The Cheeses of Vermont" A interview of Henry and the food co-op was shown on the Boston's local program "Chronicle", 2-18-02.
- Founded the Porterville Barn Theater in 1947.
