The newly appointed board of the Entertainment Industry Development Corp. met Monday and elected an executive committee, officers and a committee to help search for a new president. The 33-member board and a new governance structure were set up two weeks ago as the Los Angeles film-permitting agency sought to distance itself from an embezzlement scandal involving former president Cody Cluff. The new board includes industry, labor, business and neighborhood members but none of the elected Los Angeles officials who previously served on the board. Lisa Rawlins of Warner Bros. will serve as chair of the board. Steve Dayan of Teamsters Local 399 will be first vice chair, and neighborhood representative Doug Wance will be second vice chair. Roberto Barragan of the Valley Economic Development Corp. will serve as treasurer, and Bryan Unger of the DGA will be secretary. Each of those members also was elected to the executive committee along with Steve Caplan of the Association of Independent Commercial Producers, Jerry Ketchum of Walt Disney Studios, Joe Aredas of IATSE and neighborhood representative Ken Balder. AFTRA president John Connolly and neighborhood representative Ted Wolfberg will join Rawlins, Dayan and Barragan in helping executive search firm Gary Kaplan & Associates find a permanent replacement for Cluff, a board spokesman said.
