Veteran film executive Paul Davidson has acquired the remake rights to “Electric Dreams,” the 1984 film written and produced by Rusty Lemorande.
Davidson — who previously ran The Orchard and Idw Entertainment — struck the deal with Lemorande, who retained the rights to the film after its release nearly four decades ago. Brian T. Arnold, whose script “In the End” appeared on the 2021 Black List and is being produced by Sister, will pen the new movie.
In a statement, Davidson described the original “Electric Dreams” as “an iconic film that left a deep imprint on me from the first time I saw it.” He adds: “Released in what is clearly one of the best decades for film ever, it remains a classic that feels especially prescient today. Joining forces with Brian and Rusty is immensely exciting.”

Composer and longtime David Lynch collaborator Angelo Badalamenti has died at age 85.
Badalamenti composed the iconic score for “Twin Peaks” and other Lynch projects including “Blue Velvet,” “Wild at Heart,” “Lost Highway,” “The Straight Story,” and “Mulholland Drive.” He also wrote new music for the 1992 “Twin Peaks” prequel film “Fire Walk with Me” and for the 2017 third season on Showtime, “Twin Peaks: The Return.” Throughout his career, Badalamenti worked with artists like David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Nina Simone, Liza Minnelli, Michael Jackson, and LL Cool J. In addition to his film work, he composed the opening theme to the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona.
Badalamenti’s nephew posted on social media to confirm his passing. “My great uncle Angelo Badalamenti has crossed the barrier onto another plane of existence,” he wrote. “Between his work on ‘Blue Velvet,’ ‘Twin Peaks,’ ‘Cabin Fever,’ ‘Nightmare on Elm Street 3,’ and a plethora of others, plus...

Kyle MacLachlan is remembering his “Twin Peaks” co-star Al Strobel, who passed away at the age of 83 on December 2.
Strobel famously played Phillip Gerard, aka the “one-armed man,” on the series co-created by David Lynch and Mark Frost. Strobel reprised the cult-favorite role for Lynch’s 2017 “Twin Peaks: The Return.” Strobel’s death was announced on Facebook by “Twin Peaks: The Return” producer Sabrina S. Sutherland.
“I am sad to have to post that Al Strobel passed away last night. I loved him dearly,” Sutherland wrote on December 3. “Through the darkness of future past and much sadness we say goodbye to Al Strobel. He is an irreplaceable human being and will always be an important part of our ‘Twin Peaks’ family.”

It’s no secret that David Lynch’s original “Twin Peaks” series has had a lot of impact on TV series creators and directors. And while his influence can be seen in the small-town themes, quirky characters, striking visuals and sweeping, cinematic shots that are common today, some TV shows haven’t made their love known in oblique ways. Instead, they’ve paid direct homage through references and spoofs.

What a way to start off the week! The formidable cast list for Showtime's forthcoming Twin Peaks revival series was revealed this morning, and man, is it a doozy. In addition to boasting such key returning players as Kyle MacLachlan (Dale Cooper), Sheryl Lee (Laura Palmer/Maddy Ferguson) and Sherilyn Fenn (Audrey Horne), there are a number of surprising A-listers in the mix including Michael Cera, Trent Reznor, Amanda Seyfried and Naomi Watts. On the downside, a not-insignificant number of cast members from both the original series and the 1992 prequel film Fire Walk with Me are completely absent from the list. Where, for instance, is Lara Flynn Boyle (or Moira Kelly, for that matter)? Michael Ontkean? Piper Laurie? Joan Chen? Anyone from the mill? (Literally, there is no one from the mill.) So while I'm thankful that most of the major players are back in action, I can't help but...

April 8th marked the 24th anniversary of Twin Peaks’ premiere. But as any good fan knows, this means it’s also been 25 years since Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) first visited the Black Lodge on March 26, 1989, when Sheryl Lee’s Laura Palmer whispered in his ear: “I’ll see you again in 25 years.” For fans, it’s been a whirlwind of cherry pies and snapping fingers, but the anniversary is also a reminder of just how far David Lynch and Mark Frost’s influential show stretched. This wasn’t a little cult affair seen and quoted by few. Glimpses of the show can be seen far and wide in homages, parodies, and vague references from stage to screen, from adult comedy to children’s programming. By this point, just about everyone has seen at least a little Twin Peaks through one of media’s many references, and here are some of the best. Psych...

It seems Psych series star James Roday is a big fan of Twin Peaks and has wanted to do an homage to the legendary David Lynch series for quite awhile. Roday co-wrote tonight's episode, titled "Dual Spires," and it revolves around Shawn (Roday) and Gus (Dule Hill) in a small town (Dual Spires) trying to solve the murder of a Laura Palmer-like young woman. Fittingly, the murderer of Laura Palmer was revealed 20 years ago tonight on ABC.
Roday tells Zap2It that they crafted roles specifically for the Twin Peaks veterans they hoped they could get to appear. Robin Lively, Lenny Von Dohlen, Sheryl Lee, Sherilyn Fenn, Dana Ashbrook, and Catherine Coulson gathered for the episode. Roday noted, "I think what we discovered is that a lot of them haven't seen each other for 15 or 20 years."

Well, tonight he get’s his wish. Titled ‘Dual Spires,’ the show features former Twin Peaks stars such as Sherilyn Fenn, Dana Ashbrook, Robyn Lively, Ray Wise, Catherine Coulson and Sheryl Lee.
