- "Sinuhe The Egyptian" (1945) is Mika Waltari's most famous book. It was filmed by Michael Curtiz in 1954 as The Egyptian (1954). The story takes place in ancient Egypt 1300 BC. Waltari never visited Egypt himself. He wanted to maintain his vision of Egypt in his mind.
