Judd Apatow’s passion for mentorship cost him a laptop.
The comedy mega-producer loaned his computer to “Freaks and Geeks” alum and mentee Shaun Weiss after the actor left rehab. Weiss played Sean in the one-season NBC series.
“Judd Apatow put me in a rehab place. He was giving me a chance. That was the other thing that was really heartbreaking, too,” Weiss said during the “Dopey” podcast (via Page Six). “He was really being my mentor and teaching me how to write and giving me different jobs and assignments that really cultivated me as a writer. He got me a job writing jokes for the Oscars; he just gave me all these gigs, grooming me for better things.”

It’d be great to see as many of the original Ducks return to the Game Changers show, wouldn’t it? There are rumors that Charlie, aka Joshua Jackson, might finally return to the budding show on Disney+, which finished off its first season last year and is supposed to be headed back for more hilarity. But while we’ve seen Guy, Connie, Averman, Fulton, and Banks, it would be great to see as much of the team as possible since Jackson and Shaun Weiss, aka Goldberg, would be great additions to the cast, if only for a season, and perhaps only for

I just showed my kids the The Mighty Ducks for the first time recently, and they seemed to enjoy it. Now they want to be hockey players. But don.t worry if you.re instantly feeling depressed because you weren.t there to mark the occasion, because the cast has bombarded the internet with pictures to document their reconciliation. The posse even took it upon themselves to recreate their infamous Flying V formation from the films, but rather than standing on an ice-rink for the picture they used a tennis court instead. Despite this minor discrepancy it.s hard not to feel nostalgic looking at the group together again. But the fun didn.t stop there! The cast rallied together for numerous photographs as the afternoon wore on. Perhaps the most impressive of the batch transformation-wise was the thinned down Shaun Weiss, who infamously portrayed the rather portly goalkeeper Greg Goldberg in the franchise. You...

One picture saw Shaun Weiss next to a poster of his character Goldberg, along with the caption: "Boys grow up to be men #Goldberg #mightyducks #20yearreunion."
The 1994 film was followed by another sequel, D3: The Mighty Ducks, in 1996.
Jackson - who played Charlie Conway - recently voiced his support for a fourth film, telling Time magazine: "I feel like a fourth film should happen, and if there was space for any of the original kids to come back and have a role,...

Ducks fly together, indeed!
Cast members from the 1994 classic D2: The Mighty Ducks reunited Sunday, September 21, to celebrate the film's 20th anniversary, and thankfully, actress Marguerite Moreau (Connie) and her husband Christopher Redman let everyone in on the fun on Instagram.
Though Joshua Jackson and Emilio Estevez were noticeably absent from the festivities, key cast members were present including Sandlot actor Mike Vitar (who played Luis Mendoza in the film), Garette Ratliff Henson (Guy Germaine), Moreau, Vincent Larusso (Adam Banks), Aaron Lohr (Dean Portman) and Scott Whyte, who played their memorable rival Gunnar Stahl (the captain for the Iceland team).

Goldberg is trading in his hockey stick for a microphone. Like stars Kristen Bell and Zach Braff before him, Shaun Weiss is trying to use Kickstarter to his advantage. The former Mighty Ducks star—who played lovable and not very athletic Greg "Goldie" Goldberg in the classic '90s film trilogy—is hoping to revive his career with the funding platform. What would he do with the money? He would star in his own stand-up comedy national tour—despite having no prior stand-up experience. Weiss, 35, tried out his comedic chops [...]...

Cinelinx weighs in on the new Heavyweights Blu-ray!
The Set-up
A group of kids at a fat camp band together when an ambitious motivational speaker (Ben Stiller) takes over as owner, making everyone miserable. Co-written by Judd Apatow.
Directed by Stephen Brill
The Delivery
Remember the 1979 Bill Murray comedy Meatballs? It was no classic, but it was a funny and entertaining look at summer camp life. Now, imagine Meatballs set in the 1990s, minus the genuine humor and funny lead. That's the best way to describe Heavyweights, a 1995 Disney summer camp comedy remembered only for being one of Judd Apatow's early films. It also features Ben Stiller, in a limited role. Don't get too excited: this combination isn't nearly as funny as you hoped it might be.
For some odd reason, Disney seems to think we're all big fans of this film, because they have cranked out a special...

“It’s a fat camp! Are you kidding?”
School's out for summer and, for some kids, that means camp. Gerry (Aaron Schwartz) is 11 years old (and unaccountably in high school) and his parents are sending him to Camp Hope. The pathetic promo video starts off weak, but the promise of a big bouncy thing in the middle of a lake and go-cart races are intriguing. Then he sees the campers—they’re fat. It’s a fat camp. Gerry ain’t interested but his father (Jeffrey Tambor), who is clearly a bit ashamed of his son’s weight, makes him go. Things start off fine. He meets a few veteran campers like Roy (Kenan Thompson) and Josh (Shaun Weiss) as well as camp counselors Pat (Tom McGowan) and Tim (Paul Feig) and they’re all pretty cool and provide a safe, no-bullying summer. But when the Bushkins (Jerry Stiller and...

"Freaks and Geeks" is now airing on IFC, and we thought we'd take this opportunity to revisit the show that launched a thousand bromance movies. Every week, Matt Singer and Alison Willmore will be offering their thoughts on that night's episode.
Episode 2: Beers and Weirs
Directed by Jake Kasdan
Written by J. Elvis Weinstein & Judd Apatow
Originally aired October 2, 1999
"I prefer to get high on life." --Millie
Matt: Geeks love to world-build. They love stories with complicated mythologies and intricate continuity like Tolkien novels or X-Men comics. And they -- oh fine, we -- treasure that stuff because those are the kinds of narratives that reward the sort of intelligence and advanced reading skills that help make a geek a geek. "Beers and Weirs," the second episode of "Freaks and Geeks," is the one where we begin to see that this isn't just a show about geeks, it's a show by geeks as well.
