The episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? covering The Grudge (2004) was Written and Narrated by Adam Walton, Edited by Juan Jimenez, Produced by Andrew Hatfield and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
If there was one thing the early noughties had in an abundance, especially within the horror genre, it was remakes. We were graced with reboots, or re-imaginings, whatever you want to call them, of the likes of Zack Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead, The Hills Have Eyes, The Amityville Horror, House of Wax, Rob Zombie’s Halloween remake from 2007 and The Ring. However, despite the decent quality of those examples, well most of them, one thing that stands out in the film we’re focusing on today, The Grudge (watch it Here), is the fact that the original’s director, Takashi Shimizu, chose to also take on the remake. Keshet International (Ki) has racked up several deals for scripted formats and finished tape in the Central and Eastern Europe region.
Ki has sold the format rights for Duo Productions’ 8 x 60’ relationship thriller “Too Much Love” (“L’homme qui aimait trop”) to Slovakian free-to-air broadcaster TV Joj. Originally created by Canadian writing duo Michel d’Astous and Anne Boyer (“Taboo”) for Bell Media’s Quebecois streamer Noovo, the Slovakian adaptation will be produced by Piknik Pictures (“Traffic Light”). Currently in pre-production, with casting in progress, shooting will commence later this year ahead of a 2024 premiere on TV Joj.

“Escape From Kabul Airport,” a documentary airing on BBC Two in September, will tell the inside story of the 18 days in August 2021, when the U.S. withdrew its troops from Afghanistan, and the subsequent evacuation of thousands of Afghan citizens from Kabul airport after the Taliban seized the city.
The documentary is an Amos production for the BBC, in association with HBO and in collaboration with Arte France. It is produced by Emmy and BAFTA-winning Dan Reed (“Leaving Neverland”) and directed by Jamie Roberts (“Four Hours At The Capitol”).
The film combines never before seen on-the-ground archival footage from the evacuation, alongside interviews with evacuees, eye-witnesses, U.S. Marines and Taliban fighters.
Roberts said: “When the images of the chaotic Kabul airlift flashed across the news I immediately wanted to know more about what this historic moment looked and felt like on the ground, through the eyes of the people who were there.

Tim Allen reprised his role as Home Improvement‘s Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor during Thursday’s Last Man Standing. Don’t let the holidays keep you from enjoying a bawdy good Red Band not-safe-for-work trailer: Paramount today released a new one for What Men Want, director Adam Shankman’s gender-switched re-do, starring Taraji P. Henson, of Nancy Meyers’ 2000 romantic comedy What Women Want.
Henson, of course, takes the Mel Gibson role, and while a trailer released last summer efficiently set up the mind-reading premise, today’s Red Band clip adds a glimpse of the raunchy tone that any comedy peering into the mind of the male had better be prepared for.
Actually, Henson gets things off to a fine Red Band start with a shout of “Listen up assholes!”

Gary Oldman and Jessica Alba have joined a new film project called Killer Anonymous, which is said to have the potential of being a cult classic. The movie is being directed by Martin Owen (Let’s Be Evil) and this is the intriguing description of the film that Variety offered:
The film enters a world that exists beneath ours, beneath the day-to-day, the restraint and the order. For every life there is a death, and for every person there is an itch that only the few scratch; the dark voice that tells us to blow out the flame of another’s life. You might walk down a street and brush shoulders with a stranger and exchange a polite smile, completely unaware that stranger is picturing themselves stood above your bleeding body as you draw your final breath. Gary Oldman and Jessica Alba are set to star in Goldfinch Studios’ Martin Owen-directed thriller Killers Anonymous.
The Darkest Hour actor and Sin City star are fronting the feature, which has just started filming in London. The studio said it marks Oldman’s first role since winning an Oscar as Winston Churchill in Joe Wright’s drama.
Killers Anonymous explores a world that exists beneath the day to day, the restraint and order. For every life there is a death, and for every person there is an itch that only the few scratch; the dark voice that tells people to blow out the flame of another’s life. You might walk down a street and brush shoulders with a stranger and exchange a polite smile, completely unaware that stranger is picturing themselves stood above your bleeding body as you draw your final breath. There is a place for those people.

There is no big news to report but there has been some progress since Deadline’s previous Roseanne status report on Friday.
There were phone conversations over the weekend between the Roseanne producers and ABC about possibly rebooting the revival without its co-creator and star Roseanne Barr. I hear they went well. The next step is a creative meeting between ABC executive and Roseanne producers, which is happening tonight to pitch ideas for a revamped Roseanne without Barr. I hear there is no immediate announcement planned.
As we previously reported, the show is expected to stay true to the praised first season of the revival — the series’ 11th overall — featuring the other cast members except Barr. There could be stronger emphasis on Sara Gilbert’s character Darlene, which can be expected since the revival was centered mainly on three characters, Roseanne (Barr), Dan (John Goodman) and their daughter Darlene (Gilbert...

She did it again! Roseanne Barr’s big mouth is her undoing. It always takes her down, along with everyone around her. The death toll is legendary.
I stood witness to Roseanne’s first foray in Hollywood, from her comedy circuit “Domestic Goddess” act to her nine-season run of “Roseanne” from 1988-97. We always met after some crisis, like her screeching the national anthem in 1990.
That was a poor-taste joke, gone awry, a crisis of her own making, just like her problems today. At that time she blamed the critics. “I feel like I am under siege,” she told me. “I just can’t get out.”

And she accused her show writers of undermining her success. “They did real degrading things to me,” she said. “They’d attack me, then ignore me, then treat me like I was stupid.

To know Roseanne Barr is to know controversy. The outspoken comic has been a firebrand since the moment she stepped on the scene in the late 1980s, and the success of “Roseanne” perhaps only heightened her eccentric approach to the world.
But in recent years, Barr’s behavior has been amplified by social media, and she appears to have been caught under the spell of crazy, irrational conspiracy theories and lies. That’s led to plenty of offensive statements and combative behavior against anyone who challenges her online.
ABC had hoped that Barr was now in check. She was on her best behavior at the Television Critics Association press tour in January, and Disney/ABC TV president Ben Sherwood even felt comfortable enough to tease Barr’s outspokenness a few weeks ago at the network’s upfront presentation. When Barr joked that Sherwood was “the guy responsible for most of my tweets,...

If it's a gift horse, leave its mouth alone. That should have been the approach that Roseanne Barr took when her classic sitcom Roseanne successfully managed to return to television after an 11-year hiatus. After all, right out of the gate the proof of why the show worked in the first place was there, doing away with everything that derailed its final year (including the off-camera death of John Goodman's Dan Conner). It effortlessly continued the financial struggle of Roseanne and Dan, and the challenges facing their family on a daily basis of not only getting by, but somehow managing to survive an economy that was crushing them and millions of others. It was that rarity of things: the recapturing of lightning in a bottle. But then came the tweets... What did Roseanne tweet? Always outspoken, Roseanne took to her Twitter account and used it to espouse her views of the world,...
