This article contains spoilers for WandaVision and the broader MCU.
During a recent interview, WandaVision star Elizabeth Olsen teased that we’re about to see a Mandalorian-level cameo happen in the Marvel series. Without fully spoiling the cameo she was referencing, it was a fan favorite from the Star Wars franchise who emerged in Mando’s Season 2 finale.
WandaVision featuring some notable guest stars hasn’t been a massive secret up until now, and a report that arrived way, way ahead of the premiere suggested that Evan Peters was about to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though it wasn’t known if the actor would play the X-Men version of Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver or not in the Disney+ show.
Olsen’s WandaVision co-star Paul Bettany built yet more hype around one particular addition to the series – possibly someone different to who Olsen was thinking of – and it didn’t really...

Deadpool is coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While the X-Men Cinematic Universe fizzled out as Disney bought out Fox, it doesn’t take a marketing genius to remember that Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson is a license to print money. Much like Jk Simmons reprised his role as J. Jonah Jameson in Spider-Man: Far From Home, we’re once again going to see Reynolds as Deadpool because if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! And even if he was broken, Deadpool has the innate ability to fix hims—
Sorry, got lost there.
They aren’t just going to reintroduce the character like Jameson, though. We’re getting Deadpool 3 and it’s going to be rated R. This will be a sequel…but in a different continuity than its first two films. Interesting novelty.

Now that it’s confirmed that Wade Wilson will be joining the MCU, there’s been much speculation on how he’ll enter the shared universe and what form the story of Deadpool 3 might take. And one rumored choice, the unambiguously titled Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe, has received some fan art this week to suggest how it might look.
The story sees the X-Men commit the Merc to Ravenscroft Asylum to cure his insanity, only for the doctor treating him to be controlled by microscopic megalomaniac Psycho-Man, who brainwashes Dp to do his bidding and removes the madman’s inner voice to make him a more efficient killer. However, the scheme backfires and another voice appears in Wade’s mind, commanding him to kill everyone to free them from the constriction of comics continuity, which he sets about doing in his typically brutal fashion, relentlessly slaughtering heroes and villains alike.

Now that Deadpool 3 has been confirmed to be set in the MCU, it’s opened the floodgates for a plethora of meta references from the animation giant’s back catalogue of classics. Following this, Ryan Reynolds has stated on Instagram that Wade Wilson’s first order of business will be to hunt down whoever killed Bambi’s mom.
Being emotionally traumatized by Bambi is a rite of passage for children all over the world, partly because the movie is rightly recognized as an iconic masterpiece, and partly because it’s as safe an introduction to the concept of death as most parents can show to their kids.
The film was referenced in Deadpool 2, of course, when Wade’s narration argued that his second big screen outing should be considered a family flick despite beginning with a vicious murder, arguing that such an event also takes place in the 80-year-old classic,...

It’s been a long, long time since “Deadpool 2” — three years this coming May, in fact. And until today we still didn’t know for sure if there would even be a “Deadpool 3.”
Yes, one had to assume it was only a matter of time. “Deadpool” is after all among the most successful franchises Disney acquired when it purchased 20th Century Fox in 2019. The first film made $782 million back in 2016, and in 2018 “Deadpool 2” earned $785 million, setting a record as the highest grossing R-rated film until 2019’s “Joker” topped it with $1.074 billion.

Ryan Reynolds has responded to Kevin Feige’s confirmation that Deadpool 3 will sport an R-rating. The question of whether the first Dp movie produced by Marvel Studios will stick with Fox’s mature tone has generated much speculation over the past couple of years since the Disney takeover. The guessing game ended this week, though, with the Marvel Studios president making clear that the threequel will be just as adult-oriented as the last two.
Now, Wade Wilson himself, Ryan Reynolds, has reacted to the news on social media in the way that only he can. The Canadian star retweeted IGN’s report on the story and added: “Full disclosure: I showed them Spiderman 1 & 2 and told them it was Deadpool 1 & 2.”

We’re gradually learning more about Deadpool 3, which will mark Ryan Reynolds’ first turn as the character under Marvel Studios. The big questions so far have included whether the franchise will be able to maintain its more mature content, and just how Wade Wilson and co. will be tied into the broader MCU. And though we’re still waiting on some answers to the latter, Kevin Feige has now been revealed a little bit about the sequel, including that the R-rating will be kept for the movie. However, he’s also acknowledged that this version of Deadpool will be a very different prospect for the MCU.
To recap, here’s what Feige had to say in full about what’s happening with the film:
“It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now… It will not be [filming] this year.

Marvel fans have been waiting for ages for an official update on Deadpool 3, and now we have one. Despite the glut of MCU announcements made at Disney’s Investor Day last month, there was no mention of Ryan Reynolds’ much-anticipated first outing as the Merc with the Mouth under Marvel Studios. That might be because the movie is still a ways away, but Kevin Feige has now confirmed that it’s indeed in development.
Feige recently spoke with Collider and opened up about the state of Deadpool 3 for the first time in a while. In the process, he confirmed something that’ll make fans happy – the R-rating Reynolds enjoyed under Fox will still be in play at Disney. What’s more, Wade Wilson will properly become a part of the MCU. Unfortunately, though, the pic won’t be shooting this year due to the actor’s busy schedule.

Ryan Reynolds may have been holding meetings with Kevin Feige over Deadpool’s future as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as early as December 2019, but it likely took a while for him to sign an official contract with the studio. After all, while he was the main creative driving force behind the Fox franchise as leading man, producer and co-writer, everyone knows that Feige calls the shots when it comes to his shared universe and the beloved star won’t get the same level of control that he’s used to.

After it was revealed back in November that Emmy-winning Bob’s Burgers writers the Molyneux sisters had beat out the competition and been tasked with scripting Deadpool 3, there was optimism that some more big news would be arriving imminently.
However, the Merc with a Mouth’s slow crawl towards the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues, and it was the only one of the studio’s 25 projects in active development that wasn’t mentioned at the recent Disney Investor Day. In fact, so far, the entire history of Deadpool 3 consists of Reynolds confirming he’d held talks with Marvel in December 2019, before the scribes were hired eleven months later.
That’s hardly creating much encouragement that we’ll see the threequel anytime soon, especially when the leading man has been moving from one shoot straight onto the other to try and work his way through a packed slate. There’s still...

Ryan Reynolds first attached himself to Deadpool in 2004, five years before Wade Wilson made his big screen debut in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. At this stage, almost everyone to have ever starred in a halfway decent Marvel Comics adaptation has been linked to a cameo appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but there’s been a disappointing lack of support behind Dolph Lundgren’s Punisher, Will.i.am’s John Wraith, Miles Teller’s Reed Richards or anyone who was in The New Mutants.
All jokes aside, the very concept of Sam Raimi’s Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel lends itself perfectly to a barrage of surprise guests, even if they only end up appearing for a second or two. Of course, the balance has to be struck between offering fan service and big moments without sacrificing the story being told, and it’ll be interesting to see if the Sorcerer Surpreme’s next adventure manages to pull off such a delicate juggling act and deliver the wholly unique entry into the franchise that we’re all expecting.

It wouldn’t be unfair to say that the villains were arguably the least important part of Fox’s two Deadpool movies. A much heavier focus was placed on the title hero’s irreverent, self-aware, foul-mouthed and fourth wall-breaking antics, so much so that the first installment’s bad guy Ajax was largely reduced to a running joke where Wade Wilson deliberately antagonizes the man who unleashed his latent mutant powers by repeatedly calling him Francis.

Deadpool 3 will be the first film about the Merc with a Mouth to be produced under the auspices of Marvel Studios after the first two were handled by Fox. While there were concerns that Marvel would try to water down the raunchy Deadpool to fit him into a PG-13 rating (in line with all Marvel Studios releases to date), it seems likely that Deadpool 3 will retain the R rating of the first two movies. Whether it’s released under the Marvel Studios banner is another matter.

Emmy-winning writers Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin and Wendy Molyneux have been tapped to write “Deadpool 3,” with Ryan Reynolds set to return as the foul-mouthed mercenary.

Ever since Disney completed their takeover of Fox and acquired the rights to the studio’s marquee franchises, a lot of people were curious to see if the Mouse House had any plans for the likes of Alien, Predator and Die Hard, which don’t exactly fit their family-friendly image. It could be a long time before we get an answer on that matter, but one of Fox’s former R-rated properties that’s definitely in the works is Deadpool 3.
Handling someone like the Merc with a Mouth in relation to the Marvel Cinematic Universe was always going to be one of the main sticking points, though. After all, the McU has existed with its own set of narrative rules and regulations for well over a decade at this point, and parachuting in a foul-mouthed and irreverent character with a penchant for breaking the fourth wall and talking directly...

In terms of the sheer volume of speculation surrounding the project despite the fact that it technically doesn’t officially exist yet, the only movie in recent history that can be compared to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Deadpool 3 is the Snyder Cut of Justice League. Similar to how the mythical alternate version of the Dceu’s maligned blockbuster dominated the conversation despite there being no evidence that it would ever become a reality, the Merc with a Mouth’s third solo outing has been subjected to the same sort of treatment.
We know that Ryan Reynolds held a meeting with Marvel Studios last December, but that’s about it. However, that hasn’t stopped rumors from cropping up on a regular basis that claim to offer specifics about Deadpool’s impending McU debut, reminiscent of how the Snyder Cut spent two and a half years in the headlines...

We’re closing in on the one year anniversary of Ryan Reynolds confirming that Deadpool 3 was officially in active development at Marvel Studios, and in terms of concrete information… that’s about all we know so far. That hasn’t stopped the rumor mill from going into overdrive, though, and barely a day seems to pass without a new story doing the rounds about how, when, where or why the Merc with a Mouth will finally make his long-awaited debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
So far, everything has remained strictly in the realm of speculation, but a new leak is now claiming to offer up some massive details surrounding the project. Admittedly, the story originated on 4Chan, so should obviously be taken with a pretty big pinch of salt, but the site has proved to be fairly reliable in the past when it comes to revealing major developments that affect the McU.

Marvel Studios is hard at work producing the next batch of McU movies and developing an overarching narrative for the upcoming Phases of this interconnected franchise, but those plans don’t seem to include Deadpool 3. At least, not yet.
Indeed, we haven’t heard anything other than hearsay about the much-anticipated threequel to Ryan Reynolds’ beloved series after Disney bought Fox and acquired the rights to the X-Men and Deadpool franchises. A lot of fans are even concerned about the direction that Kevin Feige and his team will head in with the property, but it doesn’t take a discernible amount of insight to realize that a PG-13 Deadpool simply doesn’t work. Even the rumors make an effort to reaffirm this, suggesting that Marvel will definitely stick to the R-rated formula.

With Deadpool gearing up for his big move into the McU, it appears that a brand new game is currently in the works featuring everyone’s favourite fourth-wall-breaking antihero.
That’s right, according to sources close to We Got This Covered – the same ones that told us Thor: Love and Thunder will be adapting Jane Foster’s cancer storyline well before Natalie Portman confirmed it, and that Ryan Reynolds had a secret role in Hobbs & Shaw – the Merc with a Mouth will be receiving his second fully-fledged video game outing following 2013’s eponymous action beat-’em-up.

Taking the lead role in a blockbuster superhero film is a potentially career-changing gig for any actor, one which can often result in them hiding their movie star looks under a mask. Suiting up is one of the requirements of the job, but with the notable exception of Karl Urban in Dredd, comic book adaptations almost always work in a way to have the talent show off their handsome faces.
The majority of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s masked heroes like Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man and Black Panther spent a great deal of their time on screen without anything on their head, while the dual personalities of Bruce Wayne and Batman have seen the billionaire playboy facade become just as important to the mythos as his costumed alter ego.

Now that Deadpool is about to make his long-awaited debut in the McU, several staples of the franchise will likely be different than they were in the character’s first two films. Many of the aspects that people liked, however, will remain constant heading into the series’ third installment. Or so it seems.
For example, the movies will likely continue to be R-rated and Wade Wilson is going to keep on hitting on practically everyone he sees. The Merc with a Mouth apparently also isn’t planning to stop making fun of Green Lantern any time soon, which is a tradition that both Ryan Reynolds and his titular character have been upholding for years.
And beyond all that, the eponymous protagonist is all set to keep one of his most popular shticks alive well into the future, too. According to insider Daniel Richtman, everyone’s favorite crass vigilante will continue...

As the man with the keys to the kingdom, Kevin Feige can pretty much do whatever he wants in regards to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and nobody’s going to argue. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., meanwhile, was heavily touted and marketed as a direct continuation that existed on the peripherals of the movies, as were the lineup of Netflix shows, but they too were disregarded from canon once Feige assumed control of Marvel’s TV output, with WandaVision set to mark the official small screen expansion over seven years after Joss Whedon directed the former’s pilot episode.

The impending introduction of Deadpool into the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been the subject of more rumors and speculation than any other comic book adaptation on the horizon, which is ironic because we know so little about it. So far, the only official information we have about the Merc with a Mouth’s debut as part of the world’s biggest and most popular franchise is that the project is in active development, which was confirmed by star Ryan Reynolds almost a year ago.
Besides that, there’s no other talent attached to Deadpool 3, no indication of when cameras could start rolling, which isn’t helped by Reynolds’ jam-packed schedule, no word on whether we’ll be getting a watered down PG-13 Wade Wilson or if the threequel will mark the McU’s first R-rated movie, or even the merest hint of a start date for production or locked down release on the calendar.

Though in all sincerity, we wouldn’t expect anything less from the Canadian thespian who’s become a household name through none other than the Regenerating Degenerate himself, Wade Wilson aka Deadpool. I mean, it’s true that he was already a Hollywood star before his portrayal of the Merc with a Mouth, but the franchise’s overwhelming success has essentially led to Reynolds bagging roles left and right in huge blockbuster productions.
Of course, the actor actually retains Deadpool’s charisma and weird humor even off screen, which recently led to legions of fans online celebrating his birthday on October 23rd. Some of Reynolds’ friends, meanwhile, had a hell of a time trolling him on social media, which was nice for a change since it’s usually the other way around.

The two Deadpool movies at Fox saw the Merc with a Mouth dealing with smaller threats than the typical fate of the world stuff that we’re used to seeing from most major comic book blockbusters, and the narrower focus was one of the franchise’s major selling points.
