Augusta, April 9 (Ians) Brooks Koepka added one more birdie to his total to get to 13-under, even as his closest rival, Jon Rahm, slipped from 10-under to nine-under and the lead had swelled to four shots at the 87th Masters.
The play was suspended just as the lead trio approached the seventh green, which itself had a lot of water. That means the lead group, Koepka, Rahm and amateur Sam Bennett will need to play almost 30 holes on Sunday.
Augusta National officials announced that play will resume on Sunday at 8.30 am and the final round with players starting from first and tenth is expected to begin at 12.30 pm.
By the time play was called off, Koepka with a customary birdie on the Par-5 second — his seventh on a Par-5 apart from one eagle — had moved to 13-under, while Rahm, who started the third round at 10-under, picked a shot on...

Augusta, April 7 (Ians) The Augusta National Golf Club seemed to have kept its sharp bite for the latter stages of the tournament as it threw up low scores on the first day of the 87th Masters. A benign course with soft greens meant three players shared the lead with 65 each and there were 42 scores of par or better.
There was a three-way tie at the top with Viktor Hovland rising to the occasion in Tiger Woods’ company and Jon Rahm showing he is a fighter to the core and Brookes Koepka once again emphasising his focus at the Majors. They shot 65 each on the first day of the 87th Masters.
However, at Augusta, the greens always become drier, faster and tougher as the week progresses. The weather is also expected to be rough over the next three days, as rains are expected in the second half of the second day.

Austin, Texas, March 27 (Ians) Rory McIlroy holed a vital birdie putt at the 18th to win a thrilling quarter-final clash against Xander Schauffele to book his place in the last four of the 2023 Wgc-Dell Technologies Match Play.
McIlroy had to call on all match play experience to come through two extremely close matches on Saturday. He first held off Lucas Herbert in the last 16 before facing a very different challenge against Schauffele.
The 33-year-old never trailed against Herbert but was unable to relax, with the Australian staying in touch with his opponent throughout the contest before the Northern Irishman overcame a late scare to close out a two-hole victory.
But it was a completely different story against Schauffele, as McIlroy did not lead until his clutch putt from around 12 feet on the 18th green earned him a memorable one-hole win.

Quail Hollow (USA), Sep 25 (Ians) The International Team dubbed as the underdogs and a pushover for the strong United States team have put up a fine fight. While the first two sessions saw them fight but lose out 1-4 and then again 1-4, they did a much better job of scoring in the third and fourth sessions.
Led by the baby-faced Kim Joohyung also called Tom Kim, because of his childhood love for toy trains, and the veteran Aussie Adam Scott, the Internationals tied the US 2-2 in the Round 3 Foursomes and then won the Round Four Fourball 3-1. Kim and Scott won both their matches, in the morning and afternoon sessions on the busy third day.
The score now stands 11-7, way better than what it was 8-2 after first two sessions. The 12 singles will be played on Sunday (late night in India).

Charlotte (North Carolina), Sep 21 (Ians) Veteran star Adam Scott has touted rookie Tom Kim as the International Team’s “little secret weapon” as they look to upset the odds against a power-packed United States in the Presidents Cup which begins on Thursday.
The 42-year-old Scott, who is making a record 10th appearance at Quail Hollow Club but has yet to be on a winning team, thinks the young Korean could be one of the stars this week.
“I think young enthusiasm, and he’s a confident young kid,” Scott said about the 20-year-old, who is one of four record Koreans on the team.
“Tom could be our little secret weapon. He’s won on the PGA Tour, and this is the next challenge in his career. He’s obviously good enough to do it on the big stage. This is his first real opportunity.
