Cosmic Star Heroine, a retro role-playing game for the PlayStation 4 and Vita, was revealed at Pax Prime yesterday. It’s a sci-fi adventure from Zeboyd Games, creators of Cthulu Saves the World, which aims to re-capture the magic of 16-bit classics of the 1990s.
In a PlayStation Blog post, lead designer Robert Boyd talks about the genre classics and how they’ve influenced Cosmic Star Heroine:
“Cosmic Star Heroine is our latest attempt to recapture the feel of some of the classic RPGs of the 90s, while putting our own unique spin on the whole experience. Inspired by games like Chrono Trigger (visual style, on-map battles, combo techniques), the Phantasy Star series (overall feel of the worlds and characters), and the Suikoden series (political intrigue, expandable player headquarters), we can’t wait to share Cosmic Star Heroine with you!”
The game will have you playing as Alyssa L’Salle, an...

The Young Women’s Christian Association of New Zealand has launched a campaign to demand equal pay for women.
To resolve the reality that women in New Zealand are paid 10% less for doing the same job as men, men are charged 10% more than women in an ad created by Ddb Auckland.
The campaign, which centres around the website demandequalpay.org.nz, hopes to get 10,000 signatures from women and men to pressure the government into making salaries fairer.
Monica Briggs, CEO of Ywca Auckland said: “It is the belief of the Ywca Auckland that by raising public awareness around this issue and giving some education around the facts, that people will debate the issue and just as importantly, pledge their support at demandequalpay.org.nz – so that government can be urged to adopt the Pay Equality Bill, drafted by Dr Judy McGregor, the out-going Equal Employment Opportunities Commissioner.

A music video in support of Steve Rushton's "Emergency", the soundtrack of "Race to Witch Mountain", has been premiered. It mainly captures Steve wandering around an abandoned area and performing the song accompanied by a band.
Beside featuring a song from Steve Rushton, "Race to Witch Mountain" also has its music scored by composer Trevor Rabin with the help from orchestrator Gordon Goodwin, producer Paul Linford, mixer Steve Kempster, ProTools recordist Larry Mah and music editor Robbie Boyd. Recorded at the Sony Scoring Stage, the music for the film contains strong brass lines and complex string ostinatos accentuated with electronics and percussion to keep the action flowing.
"Race to Witch Mountain" itself is slated for U.S. theatrical release on March 13. Directed by Andy Fickman, it stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, AnnaSophia Robb, Carla Gugino, Alexander Ludwig and Ciaran Hinds among others.
