Lucknow, May 29 (Ians) A dozen districts in Uttar Pradesh have covered less than 90 per cent of the targeted kids — below one year of age — under the routine immunisation programme conducted across the state in 2022-23.
The state health department has now decided to form district-level committees that shall work upon reasons for poor coverage and get the ‘missed out’ children vaccinated.
Also, methods used by well-performing districts will be used elsewhere.
According to the data in Jalaun district, only 31,322 children out of the targeted 43,781 were immunised which means a coverage of just 71.54 per cent.
Other districts that vaccinated less than 90 per cent of the targeted children include Badaun, Lalitpur, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Ambedkar Nagar, Sultanpur, and Azamgarh.
On the other hand, the best performing districts include Gautam Buddha Nagar, Lucknow and Ghaziabad that have exceeded their targets.

Lucknow, May 1 (Ians) Uttar Pradesh is all set to get two more multi-specialty hospitals as part of the investments promised during the investors’ summit held in February this year.
While a hospital group has evinced interest in setting up a 400-bed facility in Lucknow, the state health department has received another proposal for a multi-specialty hospital with a similar bed strength on the Varanasi-Mirzapur border.
“The groups interested in new medical ventures in Up had participated in the Uttar Pradesh Investors’ Summit-2023. They have now identified the lands where they will build their hospital,” said a senior health official.
“The state government will ensure that nothing in the entire process is delayed at any stage, be it during documentation or for seeking departmental permissions.”
Meanwhile, Dr Girdhar Gyani, director general of the Association of Healthcare Providers in India (Ahpi), said the state government should provide cheaper electricity to private hospitals.

Lucknow, Feb 26 (Ians) The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to start Investigation Revolving Fund (Irf) on the pattern of Hospital Revolving Fund (Hrf).
This will help state-run medical colleges/hospitals to provide diagnostic facilities at cheaper rates, just as medicines are being provided via in-house medical stores.
The Uttar Pradesh Budget has made a provision of Rs 12 crore for Irf.
Hrf provides medicines at up to 60 per cent discount and is currently operational at institutes such as King George’s Medical University, Sgpgims and Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences.
Hrf and Irf are different from facilities run on private-public-partnership (Ppp).
A revolving fund is like a corpus fund and remains available to finance an organisation’s operations, including medicines, without any fiscal year limitation, as the organisation replenishes the fund by repaying money used from the account.

Lucknow, Nov 14 (Ians) A sedentary lifestyle, perfected during the work from home phase in the pandemic, has led to a rise in cases of diabetes, especially among people in their twenties.
Dr Qauser Usman, a senior faculty at King George’s Medical University, Lucknow, said, “Even after Covid restrictions are over, companies, particular in some sectors, still have the Wfh policy. This is perhaps the reason for the rising cases of diabetes among people between 30 and 40 years. Working professionals must learn to have a good work-life balance.”
Dr Abhishek Shukla, secretary general of Association of International Doctors, said that “Obesity, which is a big contributing factor to diabetes, is increasing among young professionals. They sit for long hours, keep munching on fast food even when they are working. This is an unhealthy lifestyle.”
Dr Mayank Somani said, “Diabetes is rapidly gaining the status of a potential epidemic in India affecting more than 77 million people.

Lucknow, Oct 4 (Ians) To deal with the shortage of doctors in the state, the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has decided to appoint retired doctors on contractual basis via the national health mission.
Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak, who also holds the health portfolio, “Hospitals that are short of doctors, should list those departments. Doctors can be deployed on contractual basis via national health mission.”
