- Attended Los Angeles County High School for the Arts with Josh Groban.
- Was offered a role on the HBO series, Deadwood (2004) , but refused to give up her union (Screen Actors Guild).
- Childhood friends with Anneliese van der Pol and her older sister, Sarah. The three often carpooled to stage auditions and rehearsals around Southern California.
- The character, "Dana Pruitt" on Boy Meets World (1993), was a tribute to Dayna who was an avid fan of the show, and frequently visited the set in addition to her two guest appearances. Ironically, the role of "Dana" was played by Larisa Oleynik, who starred on The Secret World of Alex Mack (1994), on which the real-life Dayna was a recurring character.

- Was invited to the premiere of Leave It to Beaver (1997). It wasn't until she screened the film there that she learned that most of her footage was cut.
- Credits Soleil Moon Frye as one of her earliest influences to go into acting.
- Has said, the directors she would like to work in television with most are David Trainer and Gail Mancuso.
- Was in the same class at the Los Angeles County High School Of The Arts with Martin Starr. The two later worked together on Freaks and Geeks (1999).
