It was recently announced that composer Pinar Toprak will score Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel, starring Brie Larson. Toprak will be the first woman to score a major movie for the studio.
Toprak’s recent score can be heard on Syfy’s awesome Superman show “Krypton”.
I’m so thrilled to finally announce that I will be scoring the upcoming Captain Marvel! It’s an incredible honor to be a part of the Marvel Universe. So many thoughts racing through my head. And the main one is gratitude. I have so many people to thank for helping me on this journey but first and foremost, my incredible agents Laura Engel and Richard Kraft for believing in me from day one and Dave Jordan and directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck for giving me this opportunity of a lifetime. #captainmarvel

The Grammy-nominated “Guardians of the Galaxy” soundtrack reached No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, becoming the first soundtrack album consisting entirely of previously released songs to top the chart. Even if there were nothing else to draw viewers to Life, the fact both Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal are leaving their comfort zones to make a film that is, apparently, mostly a sci-fi thriller and in large part a horror effort is worth a ticket.
The new trailer, closely connected to the Super Bowl ad spot, gives a lot more information about what’s happening, though it was pretty clear before, and it also shows us some of the destruction and it gives away the fact that, whatever happens, it isn’t going to end well.
Most importantly, the trailer teases that as the pressure mounts, and the fate of the world rests in the hands of a few astronauts on the space station, there are going to be some big decisions that need to be made.

Ever the advocate of communicating with fans via social media, James Gunn has taken to Twitter to share some tantalizing odds and ends regarding Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, including Groot’s seemingly impenetrable dialect, the sequel’s comprehensive soundtrack, and how the script is now all but complete.
Releasing a shotgun blast of information via his personal Twitter account, the fan-favorite director answered all manners of questions presented by fans. One of the most interesting answers to come out of the Ama session, though, was how only he and Vin Diesel know what Groot is inferring when he mutters those three famous words in different contexts.

Somehow over the years the Hollywood Music in Media Awards have escaped me. The event's fifth annual slate of nominees were announced today, and it's a pretty standard assortment of names we've been considering at the forefront of this year's Best Original Score Oscar race, from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross to Hans Zimmer to the ubiquitous Alexandre Desplat. The nominees were chosen by an "Hmma advisory board and selection committee," and winners will be voted upon by "music-media industry professionals comprised of select members of the Society of Composers and Lyricists, The Television Academy, the AMPAS Music Branch, Naras, performing rights organizations, film music journalists and music executives," according to the press release. You might raise your eyebrow at something like "Interstellar" being on here when it hasn't been screened for these purposes (or much at all, for that matter). The nominations are also based on hearing music via...

Over a century old, superheroes are inextricably rooted in nostalgia. We usually meet them first when we’re kids, growing up with them and building memories – which character we first rooted for, which villain we first hated, who we first dressed up as for Halloween (or any given Tuesday). While it’s exhilarating to see characters from the page brought to life in a modern faddish flurry, something almost always gets lost in translation when some of them are “updated” for our modern world. Acknowledging that these are beings of another time, even ever so slightly, helps make these films feel like an experience instead of just another blockbuster. A prime example? The Guardians of the Galaxy, which figured out a way not only to combine action, drama, humor and heart, but also figured out a way to infuse a great sense of nostalgia thanks to a soundtrack full of funky beats from the 1970s. Obviously...

Having made his name as an indie writer and director, James Gunn was given the reins to Guardians Of The Galaxy, Marvel's first new cinematic property since 2011's Captain America. Although seen as an uncertain prospect, Guardians has received almost universally positive praise.
We caught up with Gunn to get his thoughts about adapting the Marvel Universe, listening to 1970s pop music, and what Star Wars has to do with Guardians Of The Galaxy.
So, the reviews came in last night. I assume you've had time to at least glanced at them?
I've looked fleetingly at them. I know the gist.
Pleased?
It's great! I don't know, it's weird. It's uncomfortable. I'm excited that people go to see the movie and like it. But reading reviews is weird for me.

Hollywood Records and Marvel are releasing three albums from Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy on Tuesday, July 29.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Deluxe soundtrack features classic 1970s songs from the film, plus score by composer Tyler Bates (“Watchmen,” “Slither,” “Dawn of the Dead”). Music plays a major role in Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy as the great songs featured in the film are part of the storyline in a unique way.
Explaining how the songs come to play in the story, director James Gunn says, “One of the main story points in the movie is that Quill has this compilation tape [Awesome Mix #1] that he got from his mother before she died that she made for him. It was of songs that she loved, all songs from the 1970s, and that’s the only thing he has left of his mother and that’s the only thing he has left of his home on Earth.

Filming of Guardians of the Galaxy is well underway in the UK, but does that mean that those lucky enough to be in Hall H on Saturday will get a first look at some rough footage from the movie? Here’s a rather creepy brand new UK trailer and poster for Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz’s new movie, Dream House. It starts off similar to the Us one that we saw earlier in the year but then gives us quite a bit of new footage.
Dream House is directed by Jim Sheridan and also stars Naomi Watts. It’s released here in the UK November 25th. Find out more about the film on their official website.
Once upon a time, there were two little girls who lived in a house. Daniel Craig (Cowboys & Aliens, upcoming The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo), Naomi Watts (The Ring, Fair Game) and Oscar® winner Rachel Weisz (The Constant Gardener, The Lovely Bones) star in Dream House, a suspense thriller about a family that unknowingly moves into a home where grisly murders were committed…only to uncover even darker mysteries within its walls.

First of, have I told you how much I love this film? It's Super-funny! But, the greatest comedies have underlying tones of despair, and the characters in "The Goods" certainly have lots of those, hence, the funnies :happy
Make it the super funnies!
From the folks who gave us "Talladega Nights" and "Stepbrothers," "The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard" is one of the best comedies of the summer, perhaps the year!
Directed by Neil Brennan from the script by Andy Stock and Rick Stempson, this film ain't a clunker! Paramount has great timing with the whole Cash for Clunkers program.
You'll find a new, perhaps, respect for used car salesman! "The Goods" opens this Friday, Aug. 14th, so don't miss it!
So I attended the press junket for "The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard" and sat down with the cast. Here they are (click on pictures to see video):...
