In the past, fans have seen many video game franchises getting adapted into a TV show or movie. These expansions are often ways to capitalize through these franchises and that’s exactly what rapper Eminem tried to do with the Grand Theft Auto video game series. During his prime years, the rapper was reportedly keen on making a movie based on the franchise with director Tony Scott after the release of Grand Theft Auto III.
A still from GTA 3
Kirk Ewing, a popular name in the gaming industry, explained in a podcast how Eminem was ready to invest in this idea in the mid-2000s. However, the co-creator of the GTA series, Sam Houser, rejected the idea. After all these years, there hasn’t been much information about a GTA movie but Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive, explained in 2019 that they could create a movie based on the...

Actress Aubrey Plaza, who plays the role of Sarah in ‘Operation Fortune: Ruse De Guerre’, has shared that her character is extremely competitive and wants to prove herself in front of Jason Statham’s character of Orson.
Elaborating on the character, she said: “Sarah is extremely competitive and wants to prove herself to Orson. That’s what drives her. Nathan is like the group’s father figure. Orson and Sarah poke fun at him all the time, but they love him – much like we do with Cary Elwes.”
The film is an action-comedy directed by Guy Ritchie. It also stars Hugh Grant and Bugzy Malone. It follows the story of super agent Orson Fortune and his hunt for a deadly weapon as he goes toe to toe with a billionaire arms broker.
The actress added: “Bugzy Malone’s JJ is a sniper and all-around dependable guy. He may not be...

And so we conclude the thrilling story of Operation Fortune: Ruse De Guerre, Guy Ritchie’s return to stylish spy capers with reliable main man, Jason Statham in tow. A sharp, witty and colourful actioner about a top secret agent trying to foil a billion dollar weapons sale between an arms dealer and a set of dastardly Ukrainian Mercenaries. Which would have released last year had Russia not invaded the Ukraine and the country’s population subsequently revealed themselves to be proud defenders of their homeland, holding the line against a vastly better equipped foe. Suddenly casting them as the villains in anything would feel grossly distasteful as well as at-odds with the reality of their national character. So Operation Fortune got shelved for a year, then quietly shunted onto Amazon Prime today.
Finally watching the film is a bizarre experience, the Ukrainian villains, like everything in the film,...

Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre is an action thriller movie directed by Guy Ritchie, starring Jason Statham, Aubrey Plaza and Hugh Grant.
Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham became famous worldwide with a movie and years later they are back with another story. This time around, it’s not at all like the one about half-baked gangsters as in the first, but it does have the same spirit that brought them success: quality action cinema, creating excellently directed pure entertainment, with pace, irony and an elaborate sense of rhythm and editing.
An action movie of quality.

Quick question: Have you seen The Man From U.N.C.L.E.?
We don’t mean the popular TV show of the 1960s, in which Robert Vaughn and David McCallum surfed the era’s espionage-a-go-go wave and brought big Bond-style adventure to the little screen every week. We’re talking about the 2015 movie that wanted to replicate the series’ vintage spy-vs.-spy mojo, pairing Henry “Dude Cocks His Arms Like Shotguns!” Cavill and another gent whose name currently escapes us as a next-gen Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin, respectively.

So, all savvy filmgoers know that the season for big, noisy action blockbusters is the Summertime (when the livin’ is easy), but with Spring break looming, well, why wait for some popcorn escapism? After all, we’re right in the middle of two big superhero franchise entries (from the competing studios), and a few days away from a thriller in a horror series, not to mention a sports sequel that opens on the same day. It may just be the perfect time for a spy spectacular since Bond is in flux, Bourne is in limbo, and Mr. Cruise is about to trade in his flight suit for a tux full of nifty gadgets. I’m sure this new movie hopes to begin a “tentpole”, as it mixes in some satire and some “caper” elements. Plus there’s a fan-favorite director behind Operation Fortune: Ruse De Guerre.

When a movie gets tangled up in all kinds of financial problems, delayed for over a year, played out internationally, sent straight to streaming in Canada, and then finally getting the green light to open in the U.S. via a new distributor and thrown into theaters with virtually no notice or time to mount a marketing campaign, you have to think there must be something very wrong here.

Caught up in the STX mess and then handled by Miramax and a distribution service deal for Lionsgate, the film has been played out in much of the world but is finally being released stateside in a theatrical run that has been so rushed it sadly may not...

When it comes to the genre playgrounds he loves so much, is Guy Ritchie better off being himself or playing along? His brash, bad-lad calling cards were never terribly original, but their style-to-burn derivativeness had spirit. His Hollywood larks never felt honest but the occasional glimpse of a bruiser’s cockiness made for colorful upgrades in the IP machinery.
After Ritchie’s return to leaner (but never in the dialogue) roots with the comically shaggy, seedy gangster wingding “The Gentlemen,” and reteaming with his best contribution to cinema — Jason Statham — for the brackish vengeance puddle “Wrath of Man,” the British filmmaker is once again aiming for sleek and starry heights with the spy-driven action comedy “Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre.”
Statham is the “Fortune” of the title, first name Orson, an elite for-hire operative with clever ideas and expensive tastes, hired by intelligence agency rep Nathan (Cary Elwes) to determine...

It’s pretty easy to tell that Guy Ritchie’s new action comedy has been sitting on the shelf for a while. After all, its villains include Ukrainian gangsters. Not that there aren’t still gangsters in Ukraine, but let’s just say the timing isn’t ideal.
The film’s title provides a hint of its dumbness. Sure, the use of a French phrase is impressive. But the “Fortune” in Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre doesn’t refer to the name of the mission, but rather the leading character, a mercenary secret agent named Orson Fortune, played by Jason Statham. It could have been worse. If he were still playing his character from Crank, the film would have been called Operation Chev Chelios.
If this seems like a digression, it’s because there’s not a lot to say about this effort for which the word “derivative” must have been invented.

From awards shows to heist thrillers, there’s nothing that can’t be improved by a little Aubrey Plaza. Though Guy Ritchie’s latest crime comedy may feel ten years behind the ball, his casting of Plaza as a badass operative proves he’s not completely out of touch.
Bearing the clunky title “Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre,” Ritchie had no trouble assembling an impressive A-list ensemble for the action-packed caper — mostly of the British variety. The most prominent thing I noticed about "Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre," the latest from Guy Ritchie, is how bright it all is. Movies have become so increasingly underlit and dark that the sunny brightness of "Operation Fortune" is almost startling. In fact, the movie might be too bright — the sun seems to always be shining no matter where the characters are. And when the scene happens to be taking place at night, we can actually see what's happening on the screen. It's a movie miracle! Whatever flaws are inherent to "Operation Fortune" (I'm not using that full title over and over again — sorry), Ritchie, cinematographer Alan Stewart, and the rest of the filmmaking team deserve kudos for remembering to light the damn movie.
Lighting aside, "Operation Fortune" has had a bumpy road to the screen. The pic was originally supposed to bow in January 2022, then got bumped to March...

For 25 years, I have never been much of a Guy Ritchie fan. I found the in-your-face-and-over-the-top crime dramas that made his reputation — “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels,” “Snatch,” “Revolver,” and “RocknRolla” — to be empty-flashy exercises in the too-muchness of genre kinetics, overly infatuated with their post-Tarantino cutthroat cool. It was clear that Ritchie had talent, but the way just about every shot in his movies was designed to remind you of that turned the films into layer cakes that were more frosting than cake. After a while, he dropped the badass glitz and settled into a more conventional career, and some of those movies were okay. I confess that I enjoyed his remake of “Swept Away”, and he had fun applying what was left of his high-froth Add style to the Robert Downey Jr. “Sherlock Holmes” franchise. Yet I could never escape the feeling that Guy Ritchie had...

Hey, remember that big Guy Ritchie movie starring Jason Statham that was supposed to be released sometime in 2022, then it just sort of disappeared off the face of the planet? Well, now you do, because "Operation Fortune: Ruse De Guerre" is now on track to release very, very soon.
Lionsgate announced that the Ritchie film will bow in theaters on March 3 after already being released in several countries back in January. In a press release, the company announced that it had acquired U.S. distribution rights to the film from STX Entertainment, which shuttered its film distribution department in November 2022. This deal may have coincided with the one Lionsgate recently announced for another one of Ritchie's upcoming films, "The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare," as they too will distribute that movie in the United States.
Anyways, let's get to the important stuff, and that is refreshing your memory as to what...

Aubrey Plaza isn’t Jason Statham’s best employee in Guy Ritchie’s latest spy action movie.
“Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre” follows super spy Orson Fortune (Statham) who is tasked with tracking down a billionaire arms broker (Hugh Grant) who is behind deadly new weapon technology. Orson enlists the help of international operatives, played by Aubrey Plaza, Cary Elwes, Bugzy Malone, plus movie star Danny Francesco (Josh Hartnett) to save the world.
Lionsgate is set to release the Miramax film in theaters, directed by Ritchie and co-written by Ivan Atkinson and Marn Davies. Ritchie, Atkinson, and Bill Block produce “Operation Fortune,” which marks Miramax’s third film collaboration with Ritchie behind “The Gentleman” and “Wrath of Man.” Lionsgate is also set to distribute Ritchie’s upcoming “Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare” film.

"No reason to be nervous? They're only killers." Lionsgate and Miramax present the official US release of the Guy Ritchie action comedy Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, now called Operation Fortune (sans Ruse). STX was going to release this last year, but that studio shut down and they also had to fix some issues with Ukrainian bad guys in this movie (whoops). Now it's ready to finally land in US theaters starting March 2023 (it already opened in Europe last fall). Super spy Orson Fortune, played by Jason Statham, and his team of top operatives recruit Hollywood's biggest movie star, Danny Francesco, to help them on an undercover mission to stop the billionaire arms broker Greg Simmonds from selling a deadly new weapons technology that also threatens to disrupt the world order. The fun cast also includes Aubrey Plaza, Josh Hartnett, Cary Elwes, Bugzy Malone, Eddie Marsan, Tim Seyfi, with Hugh Grant as Simmonds.

Directed by Guy Ritchie, the action comedy film Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre was filmed in 2021 and boasts a cast that includes Jason Statham, Hugh Grant, Aubrey Plaza, Cary Elwes, Bugzy Malone, and Josh Hartnett. And getting U.S. distribution for this film is proving to be unexpectedly difficult. Tired of waiting for the U.S. side of things to get worked out, international distributors have gone ahead and released Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre to theatres in some countries this week, with the premiere taking place in Dubai last night.
Operation Fortune was originally supposed to receive a theatrical release from STX Entertainment in January of last year. But it was delayed while STX merged with Eros International plc., and was later bought out by Najafi Companies – after Lionsgate considered buying the company, but then dropped out of the running. Lionsgate had also considered releasing Operation Fortune in U.

"You can't catch this fish with conventional lures." STX Entertainment has launched the first official trailer for Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, the latest action comedy from director Guy Ritchie opening in theaters in January of 2022. Ritchie also had another Statham action movie open earlier this year - Wrath of Man. In this next one, MI6 agent Orson Fortune, played by Ritchie's regular guy now Jason Statham, and his team of not-so-great operatives recruit one of Hollywood's biggest movie stars to help them on an undercover mission when the sale of a deadly new weapons technology threatens to disrupt the world order. The fun cast includes Aubrey Plaza, Josh Hartnett, Cary Elwes, Bugzy Malone, and Hugh Grant. Oh it's always such a delight to see Hugh Grant taking on more wacky comedic villain roles these days. This looks wayyy better than Wrath of Man! Glad to see Ritchie back making comedy.

It’s been 23 years since director Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham kicked off their working relationship with “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels” (1998), which co-starred the latter. Statham gradually evolved into the mold of yesteryear’s action antiheroes, relying on quick fists, feet, a precise trigger finger, and wisecracks to tussle his way through snappy projects, a few directed by Ritchie. After “Lock, Stock” came “Snatch” (2000), “Revolver” (2005), and, earlier this year, the pair reunited for the stylish revenge-thriller “Wrath of Man” (2021), which was a modest success. The partnership continues to bear fruit with a fifth collaboration on the way titled “Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre,” an action comedy from STXfilms.
“Operation Fortune” stars steely Statham as Orson Fortune (Ritchie always had a flair for giddy character names), a super spy with a singular set of skills who is tasked with tracking down a stolen piece of technology. He’s trying...

The book industry, much like the film/TV industry, has undergone a fairly drastic change over the last decade or so. It’s no longer okay to just write a good book. Authors also have to be a larger-than-life personalities who will draw attention to each release, as seen in the new dramedy, “Best Sellers.”

Theaters are opening, vaccine distribution is pouring in, and distributors are starting to reshuffle and ready their release slates for 2021 — and that includes the glut of titles bottlenecked last year, and even earlier this year, by the pandemic. One such film is director Guy Ritchie’s “Wrath of Man,” produced by MGM and Miramax, and releasing from United Artists on May 7. It’s the latest, and fourth, collaboration between the English filmmaker and action icon Jason Statham.
“Wrath of Man” is written by Ritchie, Ivan Atkinson, and Marn Davies and is a reimagining of Nicolas Boukhrief’s 2004 French heist thriller “Le Convoyeur.” The new film follows a mysterious and wild-eyed cash truck security guard (Statham), known only as H, who surprises his co-workers during a heist in which he unexpectedly unleashes precision skills. The crew is left wondering who he is and where he came from. Soon, the marksman’s...

Guy Ritchie is clearly past the point of making major franchise films that have massive budgets and very little creative control. Because with “The Gentlemen” and the upcoming “Five Eyes,” it’s clear that the filmmaker is making features that tend to call back to his earlier works. And this freedom seems to be extending to his casting too.

The first line in “The Gentlemen” is spoken by Matthew McConaughey’s Mickey Pearce, a smartly tailored gangster who strolls into a London pub and orders a pint of beer and a pickled egg. The brewery’s name on the bar tap is “Gritchie,” but even without that gag it would be obvious that this is not just a Guy Ritchie film — it’s the kind of Guy Ritchie film that made him a hot property two decades ago.
To be specific, “The Gentlemen” is cut from the same cloth as “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels” and its bigger-budgeted follow-up, “Snatch.” Mixing a love of old-school East End low-lifes, 1990s flash, flamboyant dialogue, and plots so complicated that you needed a flow chart to follow them, these two Britpop-era crime capers prompted a rash of dreary copycat films about mockney geezers with guns doing dodgy drug deals.
