NBC has made subtle changes to its schedule for fall, which features three new series, medical drama Brilliant Minds, starring Zachary Quinto; medical comedy St. Denis Medical, headlined by Wendi McLendon-Covey and David Alan Grier; and Reba McEntire’s new sitcom, Happy’s Place. NBC is creating two clearly defined 8 Pm comedy blocks next season — a workplace one on Tuesday and a family one on Friday.
Here is NBC’s “very stable schedule” for fall, as NBCU’s SVP Content Planning Steve Kern described it, followed by analysis with input from Kern and NBCU President of Program Planning Jeff Bader, who also discussed contingencies in case of an IATSE strike, as well as description of NBC’s new series.

The Xbox giant monopoly of studios behind games like World of Warcraft and Diablo is making some changes to the guidelines to make a new title. This will involve some inclusion, which is not always organic. Apparently, this will be a mandatory practice from now on.
Mark Kern, a former CEO and team lead for games like World of Warcraft and Diablo, has discovered this new “mandatory” change that Microsoft is implementing. In a post on X, he also mentioned that numerous Xbox studios are hiring the services of Sweet Baby Inc. to improve the inclusion of its games in their narratives.
Mark Kern says Microsoft is changing to make things more inclusive in all of its games Microsoft and Xbox are making all its studios take a deep look into inclusion before launching a game.

Popular Voice Actor Rhiannon Moushall, who has voiced for Rise of the Ronin, called out former Blizzard Entertainment Team Lead for World of Warcraft, Mark Kern, for posting an offensive post on X. Kern posted a collage featuring female characters from several games, with a message stating that beautiful women are marginalized and unrepresented.
Moushall quote-posted, pointing out that the post sounded gross and weird. Moushall also pointed out that the collage contained a picture of an underage character. The collage itself wasn’t originally made by Kern either, as the same collage was earlier featured in a Reddit post around three years ago.

NBC revealed its fall 2023-24 TV schedule on Friday ahead of its Monday upfront event. The broadcast channel’s lineup was in no way impacted by the WGA strike, NBCUniversal’s president of program planning Jeff Bader told IndieWire.
Bader said what he put out today is “the exact same schedule” that NBC would have unveiled if the WGA and AMPTP came to terms earlier this month. “The schedule was actually done before we knew whether or not the strike was going to happen,” he said during a telephone interview.
It helps that the schedule is, in Bader’s words, “very stable” with last year’s lineup. That will be NBC’s main talking point Monday when the network pushes its programming on advertisers and tries to ignore the Linda Yaccarino- and Jeff Shell-sized elephants in their Radio City Music Hall room.

Il Boemo, a biopic on 18th-century composer Josef Myslivecek, from director Petr Václav (The Way Out) took the top prize, for best Czech Film, at the 2023 Czech Lions awards.
The period drama, about the forgotten composer, was a frontrunner going into the Lions, as the Czech Republic’s official Oscar contender (it wasn’t nominated). On its surface, Margaret Brown’s “Descendant” is about the rediscovery of the wreck of the last slave ship to (illegally) arrive in the United States in July of 1860, less than a year before the start of the American Civil War. As documentary subject and writer of the film Kern Jackson puts it, “The boat’s waiting to get raised up. It’s been there the entire time.” But the mystery of where the ship was sunk and the process of how it was found again aren’t nearly as interesting to Brown’s film as the tension of who will get to benefit from the slave ship Clotilda’s recovery.
“Descendant” is a single tense title, but it follows the community of Africatown, which is part of the greater Mobile, Alabama area (although it certainly isn’t zoned like a suburb), and the many descendants of the Clotilda who still live there.
