Spoiler Alert: This story discusses major plot points for “Wish,” currently playing in theaters.
Disney’s animated feature “Wish” features over 100 nods.
As the animation studio celebrates its centennial year, “Wish” pays homage to classic Disney films from “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” to “Peter Pan,” “Sleeping Beauty” and more. Speaking with Variety, director Chris Buck explained they are “Disney nods” rather than easter eggs.
“We wanted to get the story to work first,” Buck says. “Once we had that, and we started going into production, we could start layering in all the nods.”
It wasn’t just fellow director Fawn Veerasunthorn and writer and Disney Animation chief creative officer Jennifer Lee helping to incorporate them. According to Buck, “every artist and every department was saying, ‘What if we tried this?'”
While some are more obvious than others, Buck teases, “There are so many that are truly hidden,...

This article contains spoilers for "Wish."
In honor of Walt Disney Animation's 100 year anniversary, the House of Mouse has released its 62nd animated feature -- "Wish." Starring Oscar winner Ariana DeBose and "Best Chris" Chris Pine, the story follows a young woman who makes a wish on a star with so much passion that the little Star comes down to help her save her kingdom from the evil, magical King Magnifico. Blending traditional hand-drawn animation styles and the new computer generated artistry into one film, "Wish" is also Disney's first original fairy tale. The film is the pièce de résistance of Disney's centennial celebration, and as such, features countless references to the films and characters that turned a scrappy animation studio into the most powerful name in entertainment.

To celebrate the release of Disney’s Wish, which comes 100 years after the company was founded in 1923, Walt Disney Animation Studios gave press an inside look at the place where the magic happens at its famous Burbank headquarters (yes, the one with the sorcerer hat).
As a part of the experience, select groups were treated to a private drawing class with Griselda Sastrawinata-Lemay, production and costume designer on Wish, where they learned to draw the film’s character Star.
During the drawing class, Sastrawinata-Lemay explained how years of Disney Animation history went into the designs for every character and environment in Wish. “Star’s face shape is a heart, which is also inspired by the face of Mickey Mouse,” Sastrawinata-Lemay explained. “And you will notice Star does not talk and spreads magic dust, just like Tinker Bell.”

Believe it or not, the modern Christmas Classic Love Actually is 20 years old this year and is coming back to theaters to celebrate the anniversary.
“Love Actually, writer/director Richard Curtis’s 2003 film about the various personal entanglements of several London couples, has often pulled double duty. For those worried that Disney would cut dwarves out of their upcoming Snow White remake, don’t fret. However, they are CGI abominations.
“Disney has officially unveiled the first still for its live-action remake of Snow White, revealing a glimpse at Rachel Zegler as Snow White, alongside her trusty, CGI seven dwarves. This is the first time the live-action dwarves have surfaced in their entirety, fully created from CGI effects.

Even after former Vice President Mike Pence dropped out of the 2024 presidential race, there remains eight candidates running for the Republican party. And for Roy Wood Jr., that’s way too many. So, he has some advice for the GOP — use Marvel’s rollout strategy.
The former “Daily Show” correspondent stopped by “The View” on Tuesday to celebrate Halloween, and joked that both Congress and the White House could be considered Haunted Houses at this point. But, when asked about the current presidential landscape, he got a bit more serious (but only a bit).
“It’s too many people running,” he told Alyssa Farah Griffin bluntly. “We got to stop, in America, we got to stop lettin’ everybody think they got a chance. You ain’t got a chance.”
Wood also took issue with the fact that, even on the Democrats’ side, people are still throwing their hats into the ring,...

Disney has unveiled a first look photo for its live-action Snow White movie, which this afternoon pushed back its release date from March 22, 2024 to March 21, 2025, amidst the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
Rachel Zegler plays the title character in the new take on Disney’s 1937 animated classic, a work foundational to the studio’s empire that was itself based on a 19th century fairy tale from the Brothers Grimm. The story, of course, follows a princess who is rescued by seven dwarf miners who make Snow White part of their household after she’s exiled into a dangerous forest by her wicked stepmother.
Check out the new still from Disney’s Snow White, featuring Zegler’s princess opposite dwarves Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy, below.
Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) directed from a script by Barbie‘s Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson, with Marc Platt producing.

Disney has revealed a first look at its Snow White live-action remake starring Rachel Zegler alongside news that the movie has been pushed back to 2025.
In the new image, Zegler’s Snow White is surrounded by animated versions of Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy. Check it out below.
Early on in the production of the film — officially titled Disney’s Snow White — Peter Dinklage criticized Disney for “still making that fucking backwards story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together.” Disney responded by saying the movie would take “a different approach with these seven characters” and later announced that they would be reimagined as “magical creatures.”
Later on, photos from the set leaked online and fueled rumors that Snow White’s companions would be portrayed as more human-like with differing sizes, ethnicities, and genders. Now, we know that Disney has decided to go the animated route.

Those who spend too much time online (who doesn't these days?) have surely gotten wind of the "controversy" around Disney's upcoming live-action "Snow White" adaptation. For those just tuning in, it all boils down to the film's perceived "wokeness" -- as though trying to be sensitive about the way you approach a fairy tale that's at least 200 years old and depicts a group of men with dwarfism as fantastical beings who reside in a forest is somehow a bad thing. That's not to say there aren't valid criticisms to be raised about Disney remaking yet another one of its classic animated features (especially this one). But instead of continuing to debate a film that nobody's seen yet, let's talk about the one that already exists, shall we?
Released in 1937, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" was not just Disney's first-ever feature-length animated film, it was the first feature-length animated film,...

Greta Lee is squinting in the sunlight, staring intently at a street corner in the East Village. There’s a look of intense concentration on her face. “Wait, is that…”
“Yeah, that’s the corner,” director Celine Song says.
“I thought it was!” Lee replies, lighting up. “We’d just finished doing the last scene — not the last last scene, but the big scene at the end, and it was something like four in the morning, and we were just exhausted, and we all walked over right past that corner and drank,...

When people think of moments from Disney movies, they often focus on the sweeter examples. From Snow White dancing with Dopey to Jasmine and Aladdin discovering a whole new world, there's no shortage of adorable Disney scenes to choose from. Yet, as many Disney fans know, there's always been a darker side to the Mouse House's films. This comes through clearest in the studio's most frightening sequences, especially those that focus on the not-so-magical topic of death.
To some, the death of Bambi's mother remains a traumatic memory. For others, Mufasa's tragic demise in "The Lion King" left an inescapable mark on their youth. Whether they feature a dreadful antagonist's end or an adorable sidekick's demise, these moments deserve our admiration for giving us goosebumps well into our adult years. While we won't be focusing on any Pixar moments (since they deserve a spotlight of their own), there are...

Colin Jost and Michael Che were back roasting the week in politics and pop culture on Saturday Night Live’s “Weekend Update” and this time Donald Trump, Kanye West and Walt Disney World took some hits.
Jost started off the night by poking fun at Trump after Facebook announced they were reinstating the former President of the United States adding, “But this time they’ll put guardrails in place to keep him under control, which I think is the same thing they said every time they tried to reopen Jurassic Park. Also, what even are guardrails on Facebook and can they apply to my uncle? Because he’s posted some very disturbing fan fiction about the green M&M.”
