Kolkata, Sep 18 (Ians) Bengaluru Fc and their talismanic captain Sunil Chhetri won the first-ever IndianOil Durand Cup title, overcoming Mumbai City Fc 2-1 in the final at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (Vybk) here on Sunday.
Siva Sakthi and Brazilian Alan Costa scored for the Bengaluru Fc (Bfc) winners while Apuia got the lone goal for Mumbai City Fc (McFc) in what was a fine display of end-to-end football.
The Islanders did get a free-kick in the very first minute of the game but it was The Blues who took an early lead in the 10th minute of the game through a fifth tournament goal by Siva Sakthi.
The long-ball was delivered from deep in the Bfc defense by Jovanovic, which put Mourtada Fall under pressure with Siva on his shoulder. The Senegalese defender was in the end foxed by the bounce and Siva pounced on it with a measured chip over the keeper.

Kolkata, Sep 15 (Ians) Bengaluru Fc reached the final of the Durand Cup 2022 after beating Hyderabad Fc 1-0 in the second semifinal of the competition at the Salt Lake Stadium, here on Thursday.
An unfortunate own goal by Odei Onaindia (31′) helped Bengaluru Fc to reach the final as Hyderabad Fc had no answer to the Blues’ unshakeable defence led by Gurpreet Singh Sandhu who bedazzled their opponents with his astonishing saves to deny their each and every shot.
With this, Bengaluru Fc scripted history as they reached the final of the Durand Cup for the very first time in their club’s history. They will now face fellow Isl side Mumbai City Fc in the summit clash on Sunday.
The Yellow and Blacks were the first to get on to the attack, as a leaky pass from Sunil Chhetri made way for Halicharan Narzary to link up with Bartholomew Ogbeche, but...

Bambolim (Goa), Feb 28 (Ians) Mumbai City beat Atk Mohun Bagan 2-0 on Sunday to win Indian Super League's (Isl) League Winners' Shield and secure a place in the 2022 AFC Champions League. It is only the third time this season that Bagan have failed to score with their last blank also coming against Mumbai.
Mumbai were trailing Bagan by three points at the start of the match, needing nothing less than a win to secure the top spot. Mourtada Fall (7th minute) and Bartholomew Ogbeche (39th minute) scored in the first half after which Mumbai put up a solid defensive performance to keep out Bagan.
Being the team with the most goals from set-pieces this season, Mumbai drew first blood in a similar fashion, scoring with their first shot on target. Ahmed Jahouh's free-kick fell to an unmarked Fall, who buried his header from an acute angle across the face of goal to put Mumbai ahead.

Antonio Lopez Habas made two changes to his Bagan line-up with Sahil Sheikh making his first Isl start. NorthEast coach Gerard Nus changed things around with five changes to his line-up.
