With the news that CBS is currently in “accelerated development” on a new daytime soap opera geared towards the African American audience, daytime soap icon Victoria Rowell, who portrayed Drucilla Barber Winters on “The Young and the Restless” off and on from 1990-2007, is happy to see change happening both on-screen and behind the scenes when it comes to the future of daytime dramas.
In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, Rowell said, “Change is Possible! Believe it!” while linking to a news story on “The Gates,” a new soap being spearheaded by the first and only Black woman ever to hold the position of head writer/co-head writer of a daytime drama series, Michele Val Jean, and follows a wealthy Black family in a posh, gated community.

Fans of the Power franchise are losing Ghost again — but this time, it’s the series.
Starz has canceled Power Book II: Ghost, with the show’s fourth season to serve as its last. It will be broken into two parts, premiering June 7 and September 6. Watch the teaser above.
The move was prefaced by Starz CEO Jeffrey Hirsch this week when he revealed plans to contain content costs by developing more new shows versus sustaining series longer as they become more expensive.
Using the Power franchise as an example, he said: “You look at the [Power] map and say, ‘Ok, if I take one of those characters out and spin one of those out, I can bring that on to replace the Power show at half the cost.’ Now I’m putting a lot of money right to the bottom line. And I’m really not losing anything in terms of acquisition costs and subscriber viewership,...

It's been 14 years since Illumination entered the movie scene with "Despicable Me," and in that time, the film series has become the highest-grossing animated franchise ever. It has done so on the back of catchy tunes, memorable characters, a fun story of a villain accidentally (and reluctantly) finding redemption, and also the cultural phenomenon that is the Minions.
After the second movie in the franchise, we've also seen a new spin-off movie in between each new "Despicable Me" film that's centered on the Minions and their adventures before they met their best friend and overlord Gru. Now, after a seven-year absence, Gru is finally back -- and this time, he encounters an even greater challenge than when he tried to steal the moon. Now, he's a father.
That's right, following the monumental success of "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," Illumination is taking the "Shrek" route with Gru and the Minions by giving Gru a family.

In their new exclusive uInterview, Swv (Sisters With Voices) speak about their tour with the groups Jodeci and Dru Hill and their secrets to a successful tour.
The three women, Taj Johnson-George, Lelee Lyons and Coko Gamble, all agreed that the best way to ensure that the tour goes smoothly is to make sure that there are a lot of “Chick-fil-a and pajama parties.”
Johnson-George also shared that it is vital to stick “with the course and grow with it,” which, she admits, is “just such a blessing to be able to stay in this industry to even be able to say 31 years.” The two other ladies agreed with this, nodding their heads. She added, “We can’t even tell you what we did we just know we’ve been living and going.”
The group also discussed the new trend of throwing objects at singers while they are performing, which...

Whenever I talk to people from Malaysia or Indonesia, they do not fail to mention that the mainstream cinema of their countries, and essentially the most popular movies, consist mostly of horror and romantic movies. These titles are very rarely exported, to festivals for example, but it seems that in recent years, Netflix, in its constant search for context, has decided to pick up a number, thus allowing them to reach an international audience. Perhaps the reason is the success of directors like Joko Anwar, who has managed to raise the horror genre to rather high levels. Ruben Adrian attempts to do something similar with “Spirited”, by mixing horror with fantasy, in a combination that is quite popular nowadays.

Tariq has the biggest blind spot I have ever seen in the form of his girlfriend and best friend.
It's getting a little sad to see him hold them in such high regard each hour when they're hiding this massive secret from him, and he's placing all his trust in them.
Tariq even went on one of his famous 'I am Not my father' diatribes during Power Book II: Ghost Season 3 Episode 3, and while we've talked about whether that's true or not to death, I'm not sure Ghost was ever so blindly loyal to anyone. He was far too selfish for that.
Tariq's whole life has been him trying to prove something, but I wonder if he 100% knows what he's trying to prove half the time. Right now, though, he's trying to keep himself and the people he loves alive, that's his singular focus, and his new operation is a...

Power Book II: Ghost Season 3 will welcome fans back into the Tejada household. So far, fans have gotten a glimpse into who Dru Tejada (Lovell Adams-Gray) is. Though he is much more thoughtful and lighthearted than his siblings, all of that is beginning to change.

Spoiler Alert: The following story reveals major plot points from the Season 3 premiere of Starz’s Power Book II: Ghost.
Power Book II: Ghost dropped its third season premiere on Friday titled “Your Perception, Your Reality” and as expected, it’s filled with sadness and frustration following the tragic events of last season.
Monet (Mary J. Blige) is really going through it following the murder of her son Zeke (Daniel Bellomy). She’s lost her way and healing can only begin by her avenging his death—an eye for an eye. Being that her husband Lorenzo (Berto Colon) shot down Zeke accidentally in a case of mistaken identity, things are plenty complicated.
In the meantime, Monet is so enveloped in grief that she neither notices the internal struggle going on in the family nor that there’s a new baddie in town named Noma (Caroline Chikezie) who is searching for...

The Tejada family is reeling from a major loss in "Power Book II: Ghost" season three, but Monet only has one thing on her mind: revenge. The cold-hearted queenpin's (Mary J. Blige) world shattered to pieces in season two's shocking finale when her nephew son Zeke was shockingly killed by Monet's husband, Lorenzo (Berto Colon), unbeknownst to her. Now she's only concerned with hunting down the person who took her firstborn away. But Blige tells Popsugar that her character's blind-revenge mission in season three, which premiered on March 17, will only put her "in a place where it compromises everything" later down the line.
It's clear that Monet's grief journey this season affects everyone around her, including her three kids - Cane (Woody McClain), Dru (Lovell Adams-Gray), and Diana (Latoya Tonodeo) - but especially Diana, who unknowingly set off the chain of events that led to Zeke's tragic death.

Power Book II: Ghost Season 3 will find Lorenzo Tejada (Berto Colon) in a very precarious situation. After being released from prison in season 2, Lorenzo was determined to take back the reins of his family. What he didn’t anticipate was the pushback he received from his wife, Monet (Mary J. Blige), who had run things on her own for a decade. However, Lorenzo was able to sway his three children Cane (Woody McClain), Diana (Latoya Tonodeo), and Dru (Lovell Adams-Gray), to his side.
Still, jealousy caused Lorenzo to make a very chaotic choice. The consequences of that will make him more dangerous than ever in season 3.
