Matthews was a guest on “Inside Jen Psaki” Monday night when she was asked about her former boss’ behavior. Psaki and Matthews agreed the comment deserves to be considered carefully—and taken very seriously.
Fmr. Deputy Wh Press Sec. to @jrpsaki on her former boss:

British producers and directors are coming together to forge a forum with BBC Studios and ITV Studios in order to address the significant challenges posed by the sector.
The Directors and Producers Forum will meet for the first time on December 13 and bi-annually thereafter, discussing issues including increased costs of production, changes in viewing habits and diversity initiatives.
The new forum replaces previous less structured liaison between directors and producers and will be led by senior reps from trade bodies Directors UK and Pact, with input from BBC Studios and ITV Studios execs.
“The purpose of the Directors and Producers Forum is to create a much needed platform, away from the day-to-day pressures of production, for directors and producers to work collaboratively and openly,” said Directors UK boss Andy Harrower. “Directors, as part of the lead creative team on any TV production, have insights, experience and expertise which is invaluable.

The director and screenwriter of "Thanksgiving" — Eli Roth and Jeff Rendell, respectively — have been very vocal about the fact that Thanksgiving seems to be a holiday with vast untapped potential as fodder for horror films, slasher movies in particular. After all, Halloween and Christmas are well-trodden as body count fare and even lesser holidays like Independence Day have their memorable slashers. Poor Turkey Day has only one; though "Blood Rage" is a pretty fantastic little indie that everyone should make a part of their yearly traditions, it uses Thanksgiving as a side dish rather than the main course.
So, Roth and Rendell were determined to fill this void themselves, and 2007's "Grindhouse" project by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino gave them just the opportunity they needed. The Ted Lasso alum appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tuesday night and opened up about her childhood.
In one of the most surprising interviews in Jimmy Kimmel's history, Temple revealed that she grew up in the original Michael Myers House from the Halloween movie.
"So my parents were living out here, and I was born actually in the U.K., but then I came back here until I was about 5," she dished.
"And I actually grew up in, this is an interesting place to grow up, my parents bought a house without realizing until Halloween came around, and there was a tour bus that it was the original Michael Myers house from the Halloween movie!"
Temple said she didn't really understand the location's past because she was five years old.

In 2020, campaigning at the height of the global pandemic, the Biden campaign leaned heavily on influencers to reach young voters. Republican rivals called it a cop out — they said Biden was “hiding in his basement” — but it was hard to argue with the results of that social media-intensive strategy: Biden won voters under the age of 29 by a 26-point margin.
In 2024, the Biden campaign is doubling down, with plans to add even more than the roughly two dozen staffers who worked on the campaign’s influencer program in 2020. But this time around,...

When the writers strike ended near the start of October, we heard that the top priorities at the Netflix streaming service were to get the scripts for Stranger Things season 5 (the final season of that show) and Wednesday season 2 finished. Stranger Things season 5 is expected to go into production any day now, and Deadline reports that Wednesday season 2 is expected to start filming in late April. When this season goes into production, the cast and crew will be reporting to set in an entirely different country than they worked in during the first season. While season 1 was filmed in Romania, season 2 is moving to Ireland.
The Wednesday sets standing in Romania have become a major tourist attraction, but according to Deadline the decision to film the second season in a different country stems from “logistical challenges” the crew ran into while working in Romania.

Lawmen: Bass Reeves is turning out to be a series that is interested in a very impressionistic portrayal of Bass, the heroic and lawful figure of the Wild West. Each episode focuses on a period, or rather, a specific event in Bass’s life, showing us an important stroke of the brush that helps complete the final portrait. The previous episodes had portrayed Bass’ tortured beginnings and his meeting with Deputy Linn, which gave him a chance to become a deputy himself. Lawmen: Bass Reeves Episode 3 focuses on the event that made Bass learn that this was truly a harsh world and that upholding the law wasn’t as ‘clean’ a duty as he thought it was. There were tough decisions to be made. He was even warned at one point that if he became a deputy, he wouldn’t survive for long, and if he did, he would become...

The second episode of Lawmen: Bass Reeves, suddenly jumps 13 years ahead in the timeline and lands in 1875, skipping the part about how Bass and Jennie set up their own house away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Bass, who had run away after winning his freedom in a card game, was a farmer now, and he had no intention of ever holding a gun again or even working for a white man, for that matter. He did both of those things in this episode, and the results were interesting. With great performances by Dennis Quaid, who shows up portraying Deputy Sherill Lynn, and David Oyelowo, the episode feels captivating but a bit jarring in the beginning because of the sudden jump, but eventually the narrative starts to engage.

Westerns, if done right, are great to watch. There have been some great Western shows over the years that work fantastically well in the long format. In fact, the template of the Westerns has also been seen in shows like Breaking Bad and Westworld, where the story doesn’t seem to lend itself naturally to the genre. It is the landscape of the ‘Wild West’ that lends itself organically to long-form television, and there have been shows like Deadwood and Lonesome Dove to prove that point. With great writing, such a series can be more than a satisfying watch. Sometimes, they become some of the greatest shows ever. Lawmen: Bass Reeves, the latest Paramount+ original, stars David Oyelowo, Dennis Quaid, and Barry Pepper, among other stars, and it chronicles the life of the legendary officer Bass Reeves, who became the first African American Deputy U.S. Marshall. Tom Cruise has saved cinema, and now, maybe the United States?
Cruise’s “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” franchise installment allegedly inspired President Joe Biden to issue an executive order for new security measures involving artificial intelligence.
Deputy White House chief of staff Bruce Reed told the Associated Press that the president became more concerned over AI threats after watching the film, directed by Christopher McQuarrie.
“If he hadn’t already been concerned about what could go wrong with AI before that movie, he saw plenty more to worry about,” Reed said.
“Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” follows Cruise’s Ethan Hunt as he battles the Entity, a sentient AI program that infiltrates every possible security program on an international scale.
Both Reed and Biden watched the movie at Camp David. Reed noted that, additionally, Biden was “impressed and alarmed” after seeing “fake AI images of...

President Joe Biden signed an executive order on Monday establishing new standards and security measures regarding artificial intelligence. Deputy White House chief of staff Bruce Reed told the Associated Press (via Time) that AI is an issue of great importance to the president, who was “impressed and alarmed” after seeing “fake AI images of himself” and learning about the “terrifying technology of voice cloning.” According to Reed, Biden’s concern about AI also grew after watching “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” at Camp David.
“If he hadn’t already been concerned about what could go wrong with AI before that movie, he saw plenty more to worry about,” said Reed, who watched the film with Biden.

Prepare to see Jon Hamm like you’ve never seen him before: sporting nipple rings and a cowboy hat while lounging in a hot tub. That’s just one of the head-scratching moments buried in the trailer for “Fargo” Year 5.
The trailer starts with two cops telling Wayne Lyon (David Rysdahl) that his wife isn’t who she says she is. It then shifts to clips of Juno Temple as Dot Lyon fighting and scheming for her life.
“Let me tell you what I see. I see a woman who outsmarted two kidnappers,” Richa Moorjani, who plays Deputy Indira Olmstead, says in the trailer.
As much fun as it is to watch Temple strategically place ice cubes and play with flamethrowers as she “Home Alones” her way through the season, the real star of this first trailer is Jon Hamm’s Sheriff Roy Tillman. The first time his character appears,...

Trouble is coming to Minnesota and North Dakota all over again -- and, this time, it's in the deceptively pint-sized form of Juno Temple's Dorothy "Dot" Lyon. To this point, FX's Emmy-winning anthology series "Fargo" has never set the action as recently as season 5, which will take place in 2019 and feature one of its most fascinating storylines yet. The key to the show's success thus far, of course, has been its willingness to shake up its own formula with each and every installment. In the span of five seasons, it has taken viewers from the early aughts in its debut season to 1979 in season 2 to, most surprisingly, a battle between two crime syndicates in the 1950s in season 4. Despite originally taking inspiration from the Coen brothers' 1996 film, "Fargo" has forged its own identity as a pitch-dark comedy crime drama, led by series creator Noah Hawley. Season 5, to say the absolute least,...

FX has just released the trailer for season five of its hit series, Fargo, courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter. The show is due to premiere on FX this fall on Tuesday, November 21, at 10 pm Et/Pt. The trailer showcases a plot that there may be an underlying secret with a seemingly normal housewife that is set to reach a boiling point. The cast this season includes such big stars as Jon Hamm, Juno Temple, Dave Foley, Joe Keery, Sam Spruell, David Rysdahl, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Richa Moorjani, and Lamorne Morris. Fargo‘s fifth season from showrunner, Noah Hawley, will feature only ten episodes compared to last season, which featured one additional episode.

The long-awaited fifth season of Fargo has an official trailer.
Below is a detailed look at the new season of showrunner Noah Hawley’s crime anthology series, which has Juno Temple (Ted Lasso) leading an ensemble cast.
The new installment is set in Minnesota and North Dakota in the most modern period for the franchise yet: 2019.
The (very lengthy) official description reads: “After an unexpected series of events lands ‘Dorothy ‘Dot’ Lyon’ (Temple) in hot water with the authorities, this seemingly typical Midwestern housewife is suddenly plunged back into a life she thought she had left behind. North Dakota Sheriff ‘Roy Tillman’ (Jon Hamm) has been searching for Dot for a long time. A rancher, preacher and a constitutional lawman, Roy believes that he is the law and therefore is above the law. At his side is his loyal but feckless son, ‘Gator’ (Joe Keery), who is desperate to prove himself to his larger-than-life father.

Few shows lend themselves to revivals naturally. “Justified,” the critically acclaimed FX drama starring Timothy Olyphant as Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens, might not seem like a prime candidate to return after the Emmy-winning series nailed its series finale in 2015. But the show is coming back on July 18 for a limited eight-episode run under the title “Justified: City Primeval.” From a logistical standpoint, bringing back TV’s coolest lawman makes sense: “Justified,” which featured mostly stand-alone, season-long arcs during its excellent six-season run, is perfectly suited to one-off limited series. It’s also a beloved show that balances comedy and drama well, has the respect of many in Hollywood and understands the unique narrative value of place in a way that many series do not.
