The legacy of Chris Chibnall’s reign as Doctor Who showrunner is a controversial one, and even now it’s unclear how history will judge it. Chibnall brought in a lot of important and necessary steps in the show’s evolution, including the first woman Doctor, the first non-white Doctor, the first non-white writer on the show, and a real attempt to bring back the educational aspect of the series for the first time in decades.

It’s succession season at the UK’s National Theatre with Rufus Norris, the institution’s Artistic Director, announcing that he will step down in 2025 after a decade in the post.

Directed by Timo Vuorensola and starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Alec Baldwin, “97 Minutes” raises a difficult moral dilemma: is it worth sacrificing an entire plane of innocent people to save the lives of thousands? The movie takes us on an entertaining ride of action, suspense, and tension aboard a 767.
Original? Not really, but it’s a decent watch for a lazy afternoon and easily forgettable the next day.
Storyline
A hijacked 767 will crash in just 97 minutes when it runs out of fuel. Against the strong will of Toyin, the Nsa’s deputy, Director Hawkins prepares to shoot down the plane before it causes catastrophic damage on the ground, leaving the fate of the innocent passengers in the hands of Tyler, one of the supposed hijackers on board, who is an undercover Interpol agent. . or is he?

The BBC first announced it was making six-part comedy thriller Black Ops back in June 2021 – and boy is it worth the wait.
Created by Famalam’s BAFTA-winning duo of Gbemisola Ikumelo and Akemnji Ndifornyen, it follows two inexperienced Community Support Officers – Ikumelo plays Dom alongside The Wheel of Time’s Hammed Animashaun as Kay – who get recruited into a perilous undercover Met Police operation infiltrating a London drug gang.
There are so many elements that combine to make Black Ops a joyous must-watch:
1. You’ll Instantly Love The Characters
The sibling-like partnership between Dom and Kay makes us feel immediately at ease in their world. So when the enigmatic Di Clinton Blair covertly approaches them to join his “off the books” undercover operation in episode one, we’re invested in their story from the off.
Dom is smart, quick-thinking but also ultimately immature and quite spoiled – she lives at home...

As first revealed back in May 2022, former "Doctor Who" star David Tennant is returning to the seminal sci-fi series alongside his former companion Catherine Tate as Donna Noble as part of the show's 60th anniversary. Whovians got their first glimpse of the returning Doctor in the recent special that marked the end of Jodie Whitaker's time in the Tardis. However, Tennant's appearance in "The Power of the Doctor" wasn't exactly under the circumstances that Whovians expected to see the Tenth Doctor again. Well, I guess it's actually the Fourteenth Doctor now!
In the episode, due to reasoning that doesn't exactly make sense, the Thirteenth Doctor is forced to regenerate into the Master. This Doctor Who article contains spoilers for The Power of the Doctor.
Quite a few Daleks, Cybermen, the Master/Rasputin, and volcanic eruptions later, the Doctor has saved the day once again in “The Power of the Doctor,” but it’s not without consequences. In one last evil act, just as the Doctor sets the Quoronx free, the Master makes sure that the Time Lord receives a fatal dose of energy from the space jellyfish, triggering her next, life-altering regeneration.
We all knew this was coming, as the BBC Centenary Special was always meant to be Jodie Whittaker‘s final adventure in the Tardis. Her inevitable demise at the end of the episode was designed to make way for the next Doctor. And indeed, the final minutes of the special play out exactly how we all expected…mostly. One last goodbye from the Doctor, a few final words from Thirteen,...

Here we are again, then. Doesn’t seem like five minutes since Easter, does it? I swear I’ve still got half a chocolate rabbit in the fridge… But time trundles on, and we’re here to bid goodbye to Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor after what feels like an oddly-fleeting tenure in the Tardis.
In terms of episode count, Whittaker’s run hasn’t been that much shorter than, say, Peter Capaldi’s. But then, both Capaldi and Matt Smith’s Doctors went through a number of evolutions in their time, with marked shifts in their personalities as companions came and went. We glimpsed Eleven’s decades on Trenzalore and Twelve’s exile in his confession dial, watching those Doctors grow old and weary. Ready for their end.
Poor old Thirteen, on the other hand, clearly wants to continue being the Doctor,...

It's time to say goodbye to Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor. With the approach of her final episode the BBC, the actress is getting fans hyped for the big farewell, and the new Doctor on the horizon.
"Doctor Who" regenerations are generally overwhelming events. As Whittaker explained to Entertainment Weekly, the theme of change was a strong driver in tomorrow's special, "The Power of the Doctor," which will be her last adventure in the Tardis:
"I think it's got something for everybody. It [is] a celebration of everything that makes the show what it is: Cybermen, Master, Daleks. But also, if you've never seen it before, it's the biggest advert of what the show is about. It celebrates change, the challenges the Doctor goes through, the darkness and the lightness. I think it certainly delves deep into the psyche of the Doctor. But then for me — as Jodie — it has...

The title of Jodie Whittaker’s swan song as the Doctor has been announced: ‘The Power of the Doctor’. Presumably it will line events up for Russell T Davies’ 60th anniversary specials, ‘Remembrance of the Doctor’, ‘Resurrection of the Doctor’, ‘The Doctor’s Master Plan’ and, of course, ‘The Doctor Invasion of Earth’.
It is a story that will be many things – it will reintroduce Ace and Tegan (and potentially play merry Hell with canon as it does so), it will conclude the tenures of both the Thirteenth Doctor and Chris Chibnall, wrap up the Thasmin romance arc (our money’s on ‘It ends tragically’) and conclude whatever Dan’s arc is. Some are still holding onto an outlying chance that it might end the universe. People are going to have strong opinions about it, many ones that you can probably guess in advance.

After making history with Jodie Whittaker as the first female Doctor in “Doctor Who” history, the show is blazing a trail yet again with the announcement that Ncuti Gatwa, best known for playing openly gay teen Eric Effiong on Netflix’s “Sex Education,” will be manning the Tardis controls as the 14th Doctor on the long-running sci-fi series about a time-traveling alien who explores the universe with human companions. He’ll be the first Black actor to play the role as the series lead.

But he’s “also really nervous. It’s an incredibly iconic role and an incredibly iconic show, and I just hope I do it justice. I’m following some very big footsteps.” He...

The identity of the newest doctor on "Doctor Who" has been revealed: Ncuti Gatwa. Each time the doctor regenerates, fans question whether the new doctor will be able to follow in the old one's footsteps. But most seem to be celebrating the news of Gatwa's casting.
"This role and show means so much to so many around the world, including myself, and each one of my incredibly talented predecessors has handled that unique responsibility and privilege with the utmost care," said Gatwa in a statement to BBC. "I will endeavor my utmost to do the same." Gatwa also elaborated on his determination to do justice to the show. "There aren't quite the words to describe how I'm feeling. A mix of deeply honored, beyond excited, and of course, a little bit scared. Unlike the doctor, I may only have one heart but I am giving it all to this show.

Why did the Doctor travel half the universe to, as she told Yaz, “see a man about a dog”? Firstly, because the Doctor is more evasive than a mid-scandal cabinet member at a press briefing and refuses to confide in the people who regularly risk their lives by her side, and secondly, because the Doctor enjoys making dog-related jokes at the expense of new alien Karvanista. (See also: “I’ve got a bone to pick with you.”)

The BBC recently announced Jodie Whitaker, along with current showrunner Chris Chibnall, will be departing Doctor Who. Their departure will occur after Season 12 premieres later in 2021 plus three specials to air during 2022. Speculation over who will be the next Doctor is inevitable, but this time around there is a candidate already waiting in the wings who passed their audition with flying colors: Jo Martin.

The Doctor is out. Jodie Whittaker and “Doctor Who” showrunner Chris Chibnall will exit the series in the fall of 2022, BBC confirmed on Thursday.
Whittaker and Chibnall’s farewell will come in a trio of specials that will air as part of the BBC’s Centenary celebrations, and on BBC America in the U.S. The BBC had already previously announced a six-part Season 13 coming in the fall and two specials planned for 2022, but BBC One has now ordered an additional third feature-length adventure to conclude Whittaker and Chibnall’s “Doctor Who” run next year.
Whittaker is the Thirteenth Doctor and the first woman to hold the role, having entered “Doctor Who” when Chibnall took over the show in 2017.

The BBC has finally confirmed one of the worst kept secrets in television: Jodie Whittaker and showrunner Chris Chibnall are quitting Doctor Who.
The duo have been in charge of the Tardis since 2017 and will be leaving BBC Studios’ iconic sci-fi franchise next year. Before they exit, they will bring fans Season 13 this fall and three feature-length specials in 2022, the last of which will mark the end of the Thirteenth Doctor.
Whittaker will be remembered as the first woman to play the Time Lord, bringing warmth and comedy to the role. Her departure has long been speculated and is in line with her predecessors, including David Tennant and Matt Smith, who also completed three seasons before moving on to other projects.

This article contains spoilers for The Long Song.
The Long Song is the first miniseries featured in PBS Masterpiece’s 50th Anniversary season, and it’s U.S. arrival nearly three years after airing on BBC One is highlighting themes that some viewers may not be ready to process but that remain incredibly important.
The show is an adaptation of Andrea Levy’s 2010 novel recounting the story of how Jamaican slaves gained their freedom in the 1830’s. Levy worked with white screenwriter Sarah Williams on the script for The Long Song before her death in 2019. Although some may want to criticize Williams’ involvement for removing the Own Voices status from the series, it is important to note she successfully worked with Levy to adapt Small Island into a TV miniseries which aired on Masterpiece in 2009. Critics and the Black British community alike praised the miniseries for featuring the Windrush Generation.

Jodie Whittaker may be leaving Doctor Who behind. Over the weekend, shortly after the premiere of the show’s New Year’s special, The Mirror reported that the actress will be exiting the role of the Time Lord at the end of season 13, which is currently in production. The news isn’t official yet, then, but the outlet has a solid history of Who scoops and the BBC released a pretty suspicious “no comment” response to the report.
Though we might not want her to go just yet, it seems like Whovians will have to get used to the idea of potentially having a new Doctor in the near future, as The Mirror claims that Whittaker will be regenerating in the season 13 finale. But who could the Fourteenth Doctor be? Obviously, every fan has their own choice, with actors and actresses of all kinds of backgrounds, ages and types being put forward.

“These are the stars of Andromeda!” Education, the fifth episode of Steve McQueen’s 2020 Small Axe anthology, co-written with Alastair Siddons, sets the tone in outer space. This is a film about strong, formidable performances by women, whose characters take on the systemic wrongs and grinding injustices imposed upon the children in their community.

Doctor Who season 12 tore up the show’s 50-year mythology by revealing that the Doctor actually had countless lives prior to the first incarnation played by William Hartnell in 1963. The only one we’ve met properly so far is Jo Martin’s version, the first ever Poc Doctor, just like Jodie Whittaker was the series’ first female Doctor. And, according to a new rumor, showrunner Chris Chibnall is hoping to pull off another major Time Lord first in season 13.
YouTuber The Tardis Zone has claimed that the EP is set to “cast an actress to play [an] Lgbtqi+ Doctor.” It’s unknown how this character will fit into the proceedings, but the plan is for them to be of Indian descent and for their costume to “be Indian inspired.” Like Jo Martin before them, this Doctor will be another one of the lost Timeless Child incarnations of the time traveling hero.

Sometimes keeping secrets buried can be especially difficult, especially in hospitals, whose mission is to maintain life and healthy behavior. For the doctors, nurses and staff of the British medical drama television series, ‘Holby City,’ keeping their own behavior classified isn’t always as easy as keeping their patients’ confidentiality. ‘Holby City,’ which is a spin-off […]

The season 12 finale of Doctor Who ended on a cliffhanger that involved the return of the Judoon, as the international space police snatched the titular character from her Tardis and put her in one of their galactic jails.
Now, Jodie Whittaker’s 13th has to escape the prison and go back in time to save the world from whatever it is that the Daleks are planning. After all, we know that the upcoming holiday special episode will feature the infamous exterminators. But what’s unclear at this stage is how The Doctor will get out of this mess. For all we know, her ‘fam’ back on Earth aren’t aware of the Judoon, leaving Captain Jack Harkness and Jo Martin’s secret Doctor as the only viable candidates for a rescue.
Of course, longtime fans of the sci-fi series will be aware that The Doctor has been jailed countless times before.

Season 12 of Doctor Who left devoted Whovians with a number of surprises and twists to process right before the Covid-19 pandemic brought the world to a standstill in March. While the Doctor herself, Jodie Whittaker, didn’t reveal what’s to come in Season 13, she did say Doctor Who enthusiasts can look forward to new stories.
“We’re certainly in prep. What we’re all hoping for is to be filming before the close of 2020,” Whittaker shared about returning to shoot the BBC show during the pandemic.
Whittaker joined fellow Doctor Who cast members Mandip Gill and Bradley Walsh to recap the latest season at the virtual New York Comic Con. The cast spoke about the villains who appeared in Season 12, shooting abroad and — of course — the second Doctor, played by Jo Martin.
When Martin’s Ruth Clayton revealed herself to be another iteration of the immortal, time-traveling alien, Whittaker...

Doctor Who star Jodie Whittaker, who currently plays the titular role in the BBC sci-fi show, has revealed that her parents provided a gender neutral environment to grow up in.
Whittaker made history a couple of years ago as the first woman to take up the mantle of the Last of the Time Lords. The announcement managed to generate quite a buzz back then, mainly due to the fact that the last thirteen Doctors (counting John Hurt’s War Doctor) were all portrayed by male actors. Though credit where credit’s due, former showrunner Steven Moffat also did a lot to pave the way for the emergence of the first female Doctor before Chris Chibnall took over.
In fact, even in spite of the recent backlash and apparent viewership slump, it’s safe to say that after two seasons, the actress has absolutely knocked it out of the park as the 2000-year-old Gallifreyan time traveler.

Doctor Who has finally achieved its first Emmy nomination, but it’s not for the recent season of the TV show. The British institution traditionally hasn’t had enough clout in the U.S. to be in the running for the Emmys, but since 2016 the BBC has been pushing for it to get some recognition. Unfortunately, though, it’s proved unable to earn any nominations in either the major or technical categories.
Yesterday’s Emmys 2020 nomination announcement, however, has revealed that this drought is over, thanks to an unexpected part of the franchise. VR game Doctor Who: The Runaway has been nominated for Outstanding Derivative Interactive Program. There’s actually only one other nominee in this rather niche category – Netflix’s Big Mouth Guide to Life – so there’s a pretty high chance of Who getting its first Emmy win here and not just nomination.
