With eight Tony Award nominations, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ Appropriate, starring Sarah Paulson, has been extended for a third and what producers say is a final time.
After 26 weeks on Broadway, the production has added an additional eight performances to its run, with closing night at the Belasco Theater now set for Sunday, June 30.
The Second Stage Theater production received unanimous raves, with box office consistently strong with sold out (or nearly so) houses.
“We are beyond thrilled to extend Appropriate for one more week so additional audiences can witness this astonishing cast bring Branden’s brilliant play to life,” said the show’s producers in a joint statement. “The response from critics and audiences alike has been overwhelming, propelling the production from The Hayes Theater to an extended run at The Belasco and we feel lucky and extremely grateful for the support the show has received from the Broadway community.”

A boldly reimagined and fully restored home on La Costa Beach in Malibu where Dolly Parton and Steve McQueen each once lived, and which was formerly owned by actor Stephen Dorff, is hitting the market for $9.8 million.
The house melds classic midcentury details including double-height cedar ceilings and shingles with of-the-moment maximalist design.
Originally built in 1969 by architects Buff & Hensman (known for designing Case Study House #20), the house is now owned by celebrity real estate brokers Branden and Rayni, who, consulting with interior designer Victoria Gillet, gave the property a top to bottom redesign.
Once known as The Brown House, the house has been redubbed The Endless Summer Malibu Beach House by the Williamses.
“I think Buff & Hensman are one of the greatest architects of all time,” Branden Williams tells The Hollywood Reporter. “If you love midcentury architecture and those deep woods, Buff & Hensman were the godfathers of warm, organic...

The portrayal of Hawaii onscreen has ranged from war dramas about Pearl Harbor to “The Descendants” and “50 First Dates” to “The White Lotus,” and most recently “Last Goal Wins.” Now, the tropical paradise in the Pacific finds a new lens — and voice — in Christopher Kahunahana’s feature debut “Waikiki.”
While the film fumbles through a stripped down script and stumbles towards a surrealist attempt at reframing the threats of tourism, “Waikiki” still offers a voice from a Native Hawaiian about his homeland. Sundance Lab alum Kahunahana wrote and directed the drama which follows hula dancer Kea (Danielle Zalopany) as her personal life crumbles.
Kea tries to hide the black eye her boyfriend Branden (Jason Quinn) pummeled into her; she tries to plaster a smile onstage while dancing and keeps her spirits up to deflect questions about her injury to curious young students where she teaches. But it’s when...

The spirit of James Bond has found an L.A. home. Perched above the Sunset Strip in Hollywood Hills West, The Californication House (previously known as Stanley 2) is the latest spec mansion developed, designed and curated by the team of Jason Somers and Branden and Rayni Williams, founders of Disco Volante. This lush modern mid-century riot of luxury, inspired by the tropical aesthetic of the Bond film Thunderball and the sleek contemporary chic of the film Ex Machina, is the team’s most audacious gamble to date.
The $38 million estate was designed by the architecture firm Vantage Design Group, with interiors by French interior designer Victoria Gillet. The 13,000-square-foot showpiece — which is being sold furnished — is also listed by Branden and Rayni Williams through their brokerage The Beverly Hills Estates, with all the attention to detail fans of the duo have come to expect. “This home is very tactile,” Rayni says.

Eddie Marks, a member of the costume department on such films as The Breakfast Club, The Witches of Eastwick and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and the president of the Western Costume Company since 1992, has died. He was 76.
Marks died Monday of natural causes during a visit to Prague, a spokesman for the company told The Hollywood Reporter.
Marks joined Western Costume in 1989 as a vice president and became president three years later. He helped steer the company from a cramped Melrose Avenue warehouse near the Paramount lot to a hangar-sized building on Vanowen Street in North Hollywood in 1990.
Western Costume was founded sometime between 1912 and 1915 and has been among the world’s largest suppliers of costumes ever since. “What makes us stand out from our competitors is that, over the last 30 years, I’ve bought 11 companies that were costume rental companies,” Marks told THR in a 2019 profile of Western Costume.

There’s an upstart upfront on the scene.
Timed to coincide with the television industry’s traditional upfronts presentations — which took place this month featuring fewer stars and amid picket lines — an event featuring some of the leaders of the luxury real estate world gave guests a private sneak peek at a slew of upcoming residential and retail projects at the London Hotel on May 8.
The inaugural invite-only event bills itself as the Upfronts, in a literal play on the name of the TV presentations in which new shows are previewed for ad buyers and press. Agents from Hilton & Hyland, The Agency and Carolwood Estates were among the 70 or so guests in the audience inside the hotel’s screening room, where the presentations kicked off with realtors-to-the stars Branden and Rayni Williams of The Beverly Hills Estates previewing a house they are building in the Hollywood Hills with Jason Somers of Crest Real Estate.

When “Banshees of Inisherin” filmmaker Martin McDonagh first mentioned the film to composer Carter Burwell, he kept the pitch simple. “It’s about two guys breaking up.”
A few years later, McDonagh sent the script over and again, he didn’t preface it with anything. Says Burwell, “He wanted my opinion because it involved on-screen music. Brendan [Gleenson’s] character, Colm, plays a fiddle.”
Set in a quaint Irish coastal town, the story revolves around Colin Farrell as Padraic and Colm. After years of friendship, Colm decides he simply doesn’t want to be friends with Pádraic anymore, but there’s also a theme of violence — albeit, self-inflicted violence.
McDonagh made it very clear that he didn’t want the score to sound like Irish film music. Burwell reveals, “He said, ‘I hate that deedle-dee, old world Irish film music and I knew it wasn’t going to be that.” The composer...
