Done? Welcome back. The family sitcom starred Ben Savage as Cory Matthews, an average American boy just trying to make it through the day with the help of mischievous best friend Shawn (Rider Strong), childhood sweetheart Topanga (Danielle Fishel), sweet if slightly insane older brother Eric (Will Friedle), and wise mentor George Feeny (William Daniels). “Boy Meets World” ran for seven seasons on ABC and enjoyed exuberant reruns in syndication on Disney Channel and ABC Family.

Will Friedle isn’t the type of person to answer his phone while at a lunch — especially at a work lunch. In fact, he may have better manners than anyone I’ve ever met. But this was an exception.
We’d been sitting for about 10 minutes — Friedle, Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong and me — gathered around a corner booth in a Studio City restaurant.
“Oh, my gosh, I’m sorry, I have to take this,” he says after pulling his iPhone out of his pocket. He quickly turns it around, showing the group the names that are scrolling across the screen: “Bill & Bonnie Daniels.”
It was just a check in from Mr. (and Mrs.) Feeny and no, it wasn’t a planned call. It was simply an example of how most (more on that later) of this cast is actually still close.

I’m on the record as being ambivalent about Girl Meets World, Disney Channel’s highly enthusiastically ridiculously anticipated sequel/spinoff to millennial favorite Boy Meets World. (I also take full responsibility for helping to stoke that fervor for the past year and a half.) On one hand: Nostalgia! On the other: This is clearly a series meant for viewers born after the original show ended in the year 2000, and if you’re not one of them, watching it will make you feel old. The show’s bright colors, broad jokes, and earnest lessons all scream “modern-day Disney,” and it...
