The Boys returns for its fourth season next month, and if star Jack Quaid (Hughie) is to be believed, fans are in for the most batshit insane batch of episodes yet - which really is saying something when you consider some of the things we've witnessed over the course of the previous three seasons.
During an interview with Collider, Quaid said this latest season is his favourite yet, and while he didn't share any specifics when it comes to what viewers can expect from the finale, it sounds like we might be in store for quite a shocker.
"They always find a way to somehow find new beats, and they never repeat themselves," Quaid of the new season. "It’s been really cool. This is my favorite season that we’ve ever done. The writers have topped themselves." He went on to add that there were several moments that shocked...

Speaking at the Cannes Film Festival press conference for Competition title The Substance, Demi Moore described how making the film was a challenging, vulnerable experience that left her “with a greater acceptance of myself as I am”.
“There was something freeing about this exploration,” said Moore. “It was a very raw experience that required a depth of vulnerability and willingness to expose myself emotionally and physically that definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone.”
Coming through the filming process with that acceptance was “a gift”, she added.

Demi Moore said performing in Coralie Fargeat’s body horror shocker The Substance required accepting a “level of vulnerability and rawness” with regard to her own body on screen.
Moore put it all out there for the film, a gory, campy satire on beauty standards, toxic masculinity and female self-hatred, with the movie’s frequent and prominent nudity, as well as its gruesome violence, attracting a lot of attention after its world premiere in Cannes. Moore plays Elisabeth Sparkle, an acclaimed actress turned celebrity host of a daytime exercise program who gets replaced by a younger, more beautiful star (Margaret Qualley), sparking a confrontation between the two women. One of the more graphic scenes in the movie shows Moore and Qualley having a naked, no-holds-barred bloody fight. The Cannes audience loved it, giving the film a rapturous reception Sunday night.
“I had someone who was a great partner,” said Moore of Qualley.

Demi Moore’s new film, the feminist body horror “The Substance,” sees her bare it all, with several scenes featuring full nudity. At the Cannes Film Festival press conference for the film on Monday, the 61-year-old actor discussed the “vulnerable experience.”
“Going into it, it was really spelled out — the level of vulnerability and rawness that was really required to tell the story,” Moore said. “And it was a very vulnerable experience and just required a lot of sensitivity and a lot of conversation about what we were trying to accomplish.”
In the film from “Revenge” helmer Coralie Fargeat, Moore plays a fading celebrity who uses a black market drug the film is named for — a cell-replicating device that winds up creating a young, better version of herself (Margaret Qualley). Not only must she share a space with this new creature, she has to spend half her time in a...

Demi Moore is officially back in The Substance or, as her co-star Dennis Quaid called it for her at the pic’s Cannes Film Festival press conference Monday, “an incredible third act” for the actress.
“Man, it’s inspirational,” said Quaid who also praised the movie’s filmmaker Coralie Fargeat, framing the body horror pic that wowed at its world premiere Sunday night as “the birth of a great auteur.”
The trio, after a 13-minute standing ovation here in Cannes, the longest so far at the 77th edition, also received a roaring applause as they took their seats in the fest’s press room today.

Eric Kripke’s The Boys is one of the most violent and unhinged TV shows ever to be made. From the infamous Termite scene to Homelander being a murderous maniac, there have been several moments throughout the three seasons of the show that will make the audience gasp out loud and possibly cleanse their eyes.
The Boys (Image: Prime Video)
But this unhinged-ness is what makes the show so entertaining to watch, especially when many of its characters have been based on real people. Jack Quaid, who stars as Hughie Campbell, revealed in a recent interview that things are getting even more interesting and bloody in the upcoming season 4 of the show.

Certainly the grossest, most way-out-there, and dare-you-to-lose-your-dinner film to debut in the Cannes competition so far, Coralie Fargeat’s “Revenge” follow-up “The Substance” premiered in the Palais Sunday night after a morning press screening that saw plenty of expected walkouts. Surely the same volume of repulsed exiters carried over to the premiere public screening, where Greta Gerwig’s jury got their first glimpse of the otherwise since-secretive film whose synopses and press notes tell you little. Mubi has distribution rights, which the company purchased just before the festival started. IndieWire’s David Ehrlich calls it an “instant classic.”

Shocking and resonant, disarmingly grotesque and weirdly fun, “The Substance” is a feminist body-horror film that should be shown in movie theaters all over the land. By that, I don’t mean that it’s some elegant exercise in egghead darkness like the films of David Cronenberg, or a patchy postmodern punk curio like “Titane.” Coralie Fargeat, the writer-director of “The Substance,” has a voice that’s italicized, in-your-face, garishly accessible and thrillingly extreme. She draws on much of the hyperbolic flamboyance that’s come to define megaplex horror. But unlike 90 percent of those movies, “The Substance” is the work of a filmmaker with a vision. She’s got something primal to say to us.
“The Substance” tells the story of an aging Hollywood actress-turned-aerobics-workout-host, named Elisabeth Sparkle and played by Demi Moore, who gets fired from a TV network because she is now deemed too old. In a rage of desperation,...

Not long into Coralie Fargeat’s campy body horror The Substance, Elisabeth Sparkle (Demi Moore) is unceremoniously fired from her gig as the celebrity host of a daytime exercise program. The former actress’ credentials — an Academy Award, a prominent place on the Hollywood Walk of Fame — aren’t enough to save her Zumba-meets-Jillian-Michaels-style show, fittingly called Sparkle Your Life. Her producer, an oily personality conspicuously named Harvey (Dennis Quaid), wants to replace Elisabeth with a younger, more beautiful star. In his words: “This is network TV, not charity.”
The Substance, which premiered at Cannes in competition, is Fargeat’s second feature. It builds on the director’s interest in the disposability of women in a sexist society, a theme she first explored in her hyper-stylized and gory 2017 thriller Revenge. She gave that film a subversive feminist bent by turning the trophy girlfriend — a sunny blonde who is raped and murdered — into a vengeance-seeking hunter.

Biopics have been a dependable way for filmmakers to deliver a powerful story. There is always a set template attached with the biopics though. It’s either a rags to riches story or a cautionary tale about someone who fell from glory because of their vices. Which is the more interesting one? I feel the latter and yet there is a great warmth about an inspiring story where someone crossed great obstacles and tasted success. The new film The Hill is based on the life of baseball star Rickey Hill. With full access to all the intricate details about his life, this biopic has enough material to craft an inspiring story around his legacy. Rickey was born with a degenerative spine ailment and yet went on to be known as the ‘hardest hitter’ in baseball. He was a prodigy, but his career was cut short by his physical challenges. Dennis Quaid has a scary proposition he wants to share — and it just so happens, Fox News is happy to oblige.
Quaid — star of such films as “The Right Stuff,” “Innerspace” and “The Rookie” — made a return appearance on the network Thursday night to promote an Armageddon-style documentary he narrated about the U.S. power grid, “Grid Down, Power Up.”

Quaid — star of such films as “The Right Stuff,” “Innerspace” and “The Rookie” — made a return appearance on the network Thursday night to promote an Armageddon-style documentary he narrated about the U.S. power grid, “Grid Down, Power Up.”

Eric Kripke's "The Boys" emerged as a groundbreaking and thought-provoking series in an era dominated by superheroes on big and small screens. It tore away the glossy veneer from caped crusaders, focusing on the intricate issues accompanying god-like powers. With its unapologetically dark tone and satirical storytelling, "The Boys," adapted from Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's comic book series, dismantles traditional notions of heroism, celebrity, and power dynamics. It portrays a world where superpowers and marketing prowess collide, creating a chaotic and morally corrupted landscape.
Starring Anthony Starr, Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, and Erin Moriarty, "The Boys" garnered critical acclaim across its first three seasons. Its strong fanbase led to the approval of a fourth installment and a new spinoff named "Gen V." This fresh series introduces aspiring heroes whose powers derive knowingly from a manufactured element called Compound V.

There's no shortage of shows about superheroes and certainly no shortage of edgy coming-of-age shows, but "The Boys" spinoff series "Gen V" is about to go where no other series has gone before — by combining the two and delivering a series that is essentially the Disney movie "Sky High," but if all the characters were horny as hell college students and had extreme powers like blood bending. Set at the prestigious Godolkin University (aka "God U") founded by Vought International as a training ground for young superheroes, the series is set to align with season 3 of "The Boys," which ended with the reveal that this world is not like X-Men where heroes are born, but instead intentionally mutated by Vought International with Compound V (think "Chemical X" in "The Powerpuff Girls").
As the trailer for the upcoming series has shown, the college environment doesn't mean the extreme violence, sexuality, and graphic brutality have been sacrificed.

“Everybody having a good time so far?” singer-songwriter and actor Dennis Quaid asked the cheering crowd in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles last Thursday night. Performing an acoustic set, the Emmy- and two-time Golden Globe-nominated star showcased his powerful musical talent and undeniable stage presence at an exclusive Chase United Cardmember event on June 1 to kick off summer.
Hosted at Rhythm Room LA, an intimate lounge and venue inspired by a turn-of-the-century underground jazz speakeasy, the performance offered Cardmembers a rare experience to get up close and personal with Quaid.

Non-Trekkies approaching "Star Trek" for the first time may find themselves a little frustrated by the franchise's tendency to swap out uniforms. One might wonder, for instance, why Captain Kirk (William Shatner) wore a golden uniform in the original "Star Trek" while Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) wore a red one in "Star Trek: The Next Generation." It seemed that, at some point, operations officers and command officers swapped colors for no adequately explained reason. Also, why did Starfleet return to the primary-color uniforms after the jacket-like, high-collared uniforms of the "Star Trek" movies?
The color swap may finally be addressed in an upcoming crossover special between "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds," a live-action show, and "Star Trek: Lower Decks," an animated one. The former show is set immediately before the events of the original "Star Trek," when captains were still wearing gold. The latter takes place shortly after the end...

At the start of this year, New Line Cinema went all-in on a partnership with Barbarian (watch it Here) writer/director Zach Cregger and the film’s producers at BoulderLight Pictures. New Line came out the winner in a bidding war over Cregger’s next film, a mysterious horror project called Weapons. They signed a first look deal with BoulderLight Pictures, tasking the company with developing high concept genre projects for them. And they gave a greenlight to the sci-fi thriller Companion, produced by BoulderLight and Cregger, putting the film on the fast track to production. Now The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that Jack Quaid of The Boys and last year’s Scream has signed on to star in Companion.

Jack Quaid, one of the stars of Amazon’s The Boys, has signed on to topline Companion, a sci-fi thriller from the team behind last year’s horror hit Barbarian.
Drew Hancock wrote the original script and is making his directorial debut with the feature, whose many plot points are being kept hush-hush.
Despite the secretive nature of the project, the pedigree is notable. Zach Cregger, who wrote and directed Barbarian, is producing the feature along with Raphael Margules and J.D. Lifshitz of BoulderLight Pictures, right now some of the biggest hustlers in town, and horror kingpin Roy Lee of Vertigo.
BoulderLight’s Tracy Rosenblum and Vertigo’s Andrew Childs will executive produce.

This article contains massive Scream VI Spoilers.
It’s a funny thing when you stop to think about it. Despite nearly all the Scream movies featuring two killers, we never saw multiple Ghostfaces appear in costume at the same time during the last five movies. The idea was teased a bit in Scream 4, but by and large, every Scream film before 2023 wanted to keep the illusion that there might only be one Ghostface killer in the film… at least until it came time for third act monologues where everyone was in their civilian clothes.
In retrospect, it’s kind of a bizarre curiosity in this franchise. One which the filmmakers behind Scream VI intended to change while crafting a climax for the latest installment. Finally, we’d see our heroes chased by two Ghostfaces—Ghostfaces who in turn would serve a third mastermind and semi-cult leader. It’s that initiating idea,...

No redemptive stone is left unturned in “On a Wing and a Prayer,” Sean McNamara’s formulaic dramatization of the true events surrounding civilian Doug White’s 2009 emergency landing of a King Air 200 plane carrying his wife and children. Dennis Quaid leads a cast that includes Heather Graham, Jesse Metcalfe, Brett Rice and Rocky Myers through a “story of faith and survival” far less extraordinary than the filmmakers would have you believe, at least when working from a script by Brian Egeston that feels as mechanical as an aircraft instruction manual. Meanwhile, McNamara, best known for directing 2011 faith-based sleeper hit “Soul Surfer,” leans so heavily on the virtue of starting from the truth that he fails to recognize the abundance of elements that make his movie ring false.

When filming The Long Game, major golf enthusiast Dennis Quaid learned something about making a golf movie the the hard way.
“You don’t get to play that much golf at all,” Quaid tells Den of Geek during a visit to our 2023 SXSW studio.
Directed by Julio Quintana, The Long Game is based on the 2012 book Mustang Miracle by Humberto Garcia. Both the book and now the film recount the real life story of the 1955-1957 San Felipe High School Mustangs golf team in Del Rio, Texas, which made up exclusively of Mexican-American players – a first for the sport.
In a time where golf reserved for wealthy and connected white men, five young Mexican-American caddies broke major cultural barriers by assembling a team to compete against (and ultimately defeat) their white peers. Set in 1956 and ’57, The Long Game abounds in spectacular vintage cars, pristine and gleaming and a signal of the tidy shape of the movie’s narrative. That’s not to say there are no ups and downs, no setbacks and reversals in the drama that unfolds, but director Julio Quintana (The Vessel) has tailored it to reassure, using gentle comic strokes and zingy visuals to explore a true story of sports underdogs and their triumph against bigotry. Jay Hernandez provides the grounded enthusiasm as a high school administrator with a passion for golf and a vision of better things for Mexican Americans like him and his students. Together, he and his coltish team, dubbed the Mustangs, take on the country-club set, with Dennis Quaid providing effortless old-timer charm as a key ally and Cheech Marin on hand as a wiseass Yoda.

People often commend "Star Trek" for its science fiction elements and incredible use of allegory, but they seem to forget that the franchise can also be funny. Really funny. The funniest "Star Trek" show of them all is "Star Trek: Lower Decks," the animated workplace comedy that takes place on the California Class ship the U.S.S. Cerritos, and soon they're going to bring their brand of laughs to another "Trek" show since "Lower Decks" will cross over with "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" in the latter show's second season. Somehow, Jack Quaid's Ensign Boimler and Tawny Newsome's Ensign Mariner are going to end up crossing paths with the live-action crew of "Strange New Worlds", and it's bound to cause all-out hilarity, right?
