The world was shocked when gymnast Simone Biles withdrew from numerous events during the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics — especially considering the fact that she was the clear front-runner for several gold medals. However, at the same time, Biles was struggling with her mental health. Rather than push herself to the brink, she decided to withdraw from the competition. Four years later, Biles has unfinished business, and upcoming doc series Simone Biles Rising offers an intimate look at the story behind it all.
Directed by Katie Walsh with executive producers Gotham Chopra, Ameeth Sankaran, Giselle Parets, and Janey Miller with Religion of Sports (McGregor Forever) in association with the Olympics Channel, the four-episode series chronicles Biles’ preparations to resume her position at the top.

He uses never-before-seen videos, old photos, and the music itself to paint a picture of Jon Bon Jovi, the band, and their wild journey. Forty years after putting down the Power Station broom and picking up the microphone, Jon Bon Jovi is in an introspective mood.
The man who co-wrote iconic songs including “Livin’ on a Prayer” and “Keep the Faith” is preparing for the release of Hulu’s four-part docuseries Thank You, Goodnight, directed by Gotham Chopra.
Initially planned as a career retrospective around the band’s 40th anniversary – Bon Jovi’s eponymous album was released on January 21, 1984 – the series added another element to the story, that of its lead singer’s health issues that have raised question marks about the band’s future.
Thank You, Goodnight, which premieres April 26, highlights the highs and lows of being in a band, the drugs and the difficulties of remaining successful and wanting to evolve but not wanting to alienate its audience, in addition to its leader’s health issues. It’s not a “VH1 puff piece,...

Here is an incomplete list of people who might really enjoy Hulu’s Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story: Longtime Bon Jovi fans, who know this story by heart but love it enough to want to hear it again. More recent converts, eager to fill in the gaps of their knowledge. Individuals who are deeply invested in Jon Bon Jovi as a person, and wondering how he’s been. Jon himself, presumably — though the frontman has stressed that he did not have final cut, director Gotham Chopra has assembled a portrait as reverent as any celebrity might reasonably hope for.
Everyone else — the casual listeners, the total newbies, the gossips and (at least in my case) the critics — can probably keep walking. Thank You, Goodnight is a perfectly nice retrospective, approachable and amiable and affectionate. But that’s not the same thing as saying it’s a particularly insightful one.

Bon Jovi have announced a new album, Forever, out June 7th via Island Records. As a preview, the band has unveiled the video for its lead single, “Legendary.”
The pop-country-tinged track is anthemic and positive, fueled by major chords, “whoa-oh” choruses, and Jon Bon Jovi’s charismatic presence. The singer has battled vocal issues in recent years, but his voice sounds clean on the verses as backing vocals by the rest of the band supplement the song’s chorus.

This week marks a milestone for a band that’s been rocking America for decades: It was 40 years ago that Bon Jovi released its self-titled debut album. Although the album stalled out at No. 43 on Billboard’s album chart and the single Runaway only made it to No. 39 on the Hot 100, it laid the groundwork for the string of hit albums that would follow, starting with Slippery When Wet in 1986. With more than four decades of Bon Jovi history in the books, the band, along with director Gotham Chopra, have memorialized that history with a four-part documentary series, Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story. We’ve spoken to Jon Bon Jovi several times over the years, told us that one of his most interesting fan encounters came on a movie set, when the director introduced him to a very, very dedicated fan. Bon Jovi is getting the whole band back together for a new docuseries that has been picked up by Hulu.
The streamer has acquired Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story, a four-part series directed by Gotham Chopra.
The announcement comes the day after the 40th anniversary of the release of the band’s debut, eponymous album, which included the hit Runaway.
There have been numerous Bon Jovi documentaries over the years including When We Were Beautiful, which premiered at the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival.
Hulu says that this project has the “full cooperation” of all past and present members of the band.
Richie Sambora, who joined the band in 1983 after the departure of original lead guitarist Dave Sabo, who is also presumably in the series, quit the band in 2013. The band has most recently featured keyboardist David Bryan, who was the first to get a call after Jon Bon Jovi landed a record deal,...

Right after Elsa Ramo, managing partner of Ramo Law PC, graduated law school, she made an “unconventional” decision. Instead of working for an established firm, she set up a trailer on the Universal Studios backlot in the summer of 2005.
Her business cards may have come from Kinko’s and she may have had to use the bathroom on the “Desperate Housewives” set, but her bold move paid off. During a time when filmmaking was switching from 35mm to digital, Ramo was right on site helping young directors and producers as they sold their $200,000 movies to the open market for seven figures.
“I was literally the girl on the Universal backlot who could do your production legal for basically no cost because I was excited to sign a client,” Ramo told TheWrap for this week’s Office With a View. “It was sort of a perfect storm of geographically being in the right place.

For Hulu documentary executives Belisa Balaban and Beth Osisek, flexibility is the name of the game when it comes to the constant pivoting required by vérité and investigative projects — a quality that they say only strengthens unscripted storytelling.
“The hallmark of nonfiction is that you don’t always know where a story’s going to go,” Balaban, who serves as SVP of Hulu original documentaries and unscripted series told TheWrap for this week’s Office With a View. “That’s always the central challenge, and also opportunity of nonfiction filmmaking.
