Choreographer Mandy Moore — no, not that one — has created some of the most memorable dance scenes in film and TV over the past decade or so. She's responsible La La Land's massive freeway number, along with Jimmy Fallon's Golden Globes spoof of it. Her latest endeavor is as executive producer and choreographer of NBC musical dramedy Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist, where she's worked with creator Austin Winsberg from the beginning to shape the visual language of the series.

Willa Ford has an interesting explanation for why her career struggled after her hit 2001 song, "I Wanna Be Bad."
Fans may remember the now 36-year-old singer when she was grouped in the pop category among her contemporaries at the time -- Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson and Mandy Moore -- though she failed to produce any more hits after her sultry debut. Ford opens up about her short-lived singing career in a new interview with Billboard and says that the release of her second single on 9/11 was the kiss of death for her.
"A lot of people don't realize this, but my second single was released on September 11, 2001," Ford says. "Everything that happened that day froze; the world stood still, as it should have. My second single didn't do well because anything that launched that day kind of got canned."

Nearing the $350 million mark worldwide, it’s safe to say that Damien Chazelle‘s modern musical La La Land is one of the biggest success stories of the last year — and that’s even before it certainly picks up a handful of trophies at the Oscars this weekend. As one can glean from any scene of the film, but particularly the musical numbers, an immense amount of preparation went into its creation. Today, we have the opportunity to see precisely how Chazelle and crew planned to kick off the film.
Before they went to the Los Angeles freeway to shoot “Another Day of Sun,” Chazelle, his choreographer Mandy Moore, and the dancers started in a parking lot. With no steadi-cams or cranes, in the footage one can see Chazelle acting as cameraman as he weaves in and out of the cars and dancers, along with side-by-side video of the final product.

Most recently, Bella Hadid attended the Dior Masquerade Ball in Paris looking stunning in a floor-length gown with a fully see-through top, defying societal pressure to cover her nipples.
As fellow sheer-enthusiast Kendall Jenner has put it, “I really don’t see what the big deal is with going braless. I think it’s cool and I really just don’t care! It’s sexy, it’s comfortable and I’m cool with my breasts.

Damien Chazelle's "La La Land" made history at the 74th Annual Golden Globes winning all 7 nominations including Best Picture Musical/Comedy! The film won Best Actor (Ryan Gosling), Actress (Emma Stone), Director, Screenplay, Score, and Song! Previously, "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" was the record-holder for winning 6/6 and both "Doctor Zhivago" and "A Star is Born" 5 for 5.
A big congrats to Chazelle and "La La Land!"
The biggest upset for me? Natalie Portman's "Jackie" performance was overshadowed by Isabelle Huppert in "Elle." I thought Portman, wigs and make-up included, embodied the role of our former First Lady!
In the TV category, "The Night Manager" was the big winner taking home three awards (mostly for performance for Tom Hiddleston, Olivia Colman, and Hugh Laurie), followed by "The People v O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story" and "The Crown" each with two.

“There were a lot of people saying we were trying to make a really expensive museum piece,” La La Land producer Jordan Horowitz said of the long search to find funding for writer/director Damien Chazelle’s dream musical. Those people weren’t necessarily wrong. There is a shot from this film that literally, blatantly quotes from Rebel Without a Cause. The worship for old Hollywood, old music, old rhythms of life permeates every inch of the film. But it doesn’t matter whether or not La La Land is caught up in nostalgia. It matters whether Chazelle convinces his audience of the value of those objects of worship, and the drawbacks inherent to valuing them too much.
This makes La La Land sound a little thesis-y I suppose, which is not exactly incorrect. And there’s where Chazelle’s true artistic ancestry lies – not in Hollywood’s golden era,...

Oscar contenders can be the auteur, the veteran, the journeyman who’s elevated his craft. However, perhaps the most exciting breed is the Breakout, and that’s Damien Chazelle.
He’s not a rookie. His second feature, “Whiplash” (Sony Pictures Classics), scored a shocking five nominations including Best Picture, Adapted Screenplay (from his short), Editing, Sound Mixing, and a win for Supporting Actor J.K. Simmons.
However, following that breakout success is often a tall order for young directors, whose celebration is often followed by a morass of dealmaking and development hell.
That wasn’t Chazelle’s fate. With critically hailed fall festival hit “La La Land” (Lionsgate, December 9), Chazelle magically modernizes the colorful swirl of Jacques Demy French song-and-dance musicals “The Umbrellas of Cherbourg” and “Les Desmoiselles de Rochefort” along with backstage showbiz romantic musicals such as “New York, New York” or Gene Kelly-starrer “Singin’ in the Rain.” In “La La Land,...

Ryan Gosling has grown accustomed to crowds of rowdy girls screaming his name, but his biggest fans might be his La La Land co-stars Emma Stone and John Legend. Et caught up with the film's cast in Los Angeles on Monday, where the stars couldn't say enough good things about Gosling.
Stone famously worked with Gosling in 2011's Crazy, Stupid, Love, in which the duo recreated the famous Dirty Dancing lift. They return to the dance floor in La La Land, so Et's Carly Steel asked Stone to describe Gosling's dance moves in three words.

For the youth market, whose patience with song and dance is usually limited to short-form videos about getting into formation with Beyoncé, an old-school, feature-length musical is predicted to be a tough sell. I wouldn't be so sure. Brilliantly written and directed by 31-year-old Damien Chazelle (the dude who did Whiplash), La La Land does nothing less than jolt the movie musical to life for the 21st century. There's not an ounce of Broadway fat on this love story that raises its voice and moves its feet because it has...

Girl meets boy, girl stalks boy, and they live happily ever after. Or something like that. The upcoming musical La La Land is not the archetypical romantic story, but it nonetheless harkens and pays tribute to the Hollywood of old at every turn. Suffused with nostalgia, you will be dazzled, you will be enamored, and you may even be moved to tears. You may also be left wondering if the entire point of the movie was simply to have one big argument with itself.
The film is directed flawlessly by Damien Chazelle, who directed indie-hit Whiplash. With an ebullient soundtrack by Justin Hurwitz and rag-a-tag choreography by Mandy Moore, La La Land landed at the Venice and Telluride Film Festivals as a surefire awards-season contender. It follows aspiring, ambitious Mia (Emma Stone) as she tries to make it as an actress, and explores what happens to her life after she...

It’s been decades since a studio produced the kind of colorful musical fantasy that “La La Land” so affectionately salutes, but writer-director Damien Chazelle is the guy for the job. Before his breakout drama “Whiplash,” Chazelle made the 2009 microbudget “Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench,” a gentle, scrappy, song-and-dance tale of an aspiring jazz trumpeter and the woman who falls for him. That movie now looks like the dry run for this grander spectacle, his third feature — another story about singing, dancing lovers struggling with modern concerns. Carved from the legacies of Vincente Minnelli, Jacques Demy, and so many others, “La La Land” is magically in tune with its reference points even as falls a few notes short of their greatness.
No matter how obvious its antecedents, “La La Land” makes it clear that this film is a serious upgrade. As the opening black-and-white Cinemascope screen opens up to glorious color,...

They probably don’t know it yet, but a fairly significant percentage of movie fans are about to change their list of favorite films. On December 2nd (going wide on the 16th), a movie is heading to theaters that has the potential to move into a realm of its own, in much the way that Once simply changed the game.
La La Land follows a couple (Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone) that will at least make people take some notice, and they have proven they can deliver, but the real sell here is writer/director Damien Chazelle. Perhaps not the biggest sell in terms of rushing out to pre-order tickets, but the biggest sell in terms of expectations that this will be one of the best films of the year.

It's Latin Night on "Dancing with the Stars," dance fans, and I was preparing myself for a night of slightly raunchy choreography. I'm so happy to say, it wasn't like that at all. Even the great opening number (choreographed again by Mandy Moore) and the post-break in-betweeners have more actual dancing and less strutting and posing than they did last season.
Tom Bergeron is his usual hysterical self, and even Erin Andrews is getting more comfortable with the gig, getting some good jokes in. At week three, the judges are getting pickier, and the contestants have come down a little after last week's stellar round. But they've all rallied pretty well, and some dancers are still leading the pack.
