Rihanna shone bright like a diamond during her Super Bowl Lvii half-time show, performing a slew of her greatest hits without any special guests or pyrotechnics.
The pop star was clad in a monochromatic red jumpsuit with matching latex molded breastplate.
She opened the show on a levitating platform centerfield with “Bitch Better Have My Money,” with the expletives bleeped out (this is national TV after all).

“Monty Python” actor John Cleese is being accused of transphobia following a series of tweets in which he defended “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling.
In June, Rowling made headlines for stating that she believes one’s biological sex is their “real sex” and criticizing transgender people for “erasing the concept of sex.” In September, Cleese signed a letter showing his solidarity with Rowling.
On Sunday morning, a Twitter user asked Cleese about his stance on Rowling’s views. Cleese wrote: “I’m afraid I’m not that interested in trans folks. I just hope they’re happy and that people treat them kindly. Right now I’m more focussed [sic] on threats to democracy in America, the rampant corruption in the UK, the appalling British press, the revelations about police brutality…”

As someone who is extremely into online horror and found footage storytelling techniques, Rob Savage’s Host (which premiered this week on Shudder) was totally and completely up my horror-loving alley. With its lean and mean 56-minute running time, Host wastes no time whatsoever unleashing pure terror on both its cast and viewers, and I was wholly riveted and rattled as all hell broke loose on the screen. Make no mistake, Host is the real deal, folks, and co-writer/director Rob Sheridan (along with his entire team of collaborators) have pulled off something very special with their tech-infused nightmare.
Host follows a group of young women –Haley Bishop, Jemma Moore, Emma Louise Webb, Radina Drandova and Caroline Ward (all playing characters that share their own names) – who come together via Zoom during lockdown to hold a séance with the assistance of a medium named Seylan (Seylan Baxter). Captain Jean-Luc Picard is one of the most beloved characters in the long history of Star Trek. His tactical skills, bravery, diplomatic talents and iron determination have cemented him as the mode of what a starship captain should be. So, how do you improve upon a character this well established and adored? You give him a cute as all hell dog, that’s how.
CBS has just released a new poster for Star Trek: Picard, showing Jean-Luc relaxing in the Picard vineyard alongside his new canine companion (who’s sporting a delightful Federation delta marked ‘1’ on his collar). This combination of Star Trek and dogs has naturally set the internet on fire, with fans all over the world collectively squealing over this new addition to the universe.
Here’s a selection of some of the reactions:
CBS Exec: Look, Picard is a beloved character, so this show should sell itself.

We may never get to “Stadium West,” but L7 is all about the neurotic, chaotic journey – not the destination. In their new video, directed by Rob Sheridan, the camera follows the mischievous grunge rockers like a security van careening through the streets of Los Angeles at night just to keep up. The band head-bangs in a parking lot, their bodies radiating iridescent as if the camera’s picking up their heat. Then they plug in on a cramped balcony overlooking desert scrub. The camera teeters, zoning in on the four members.

Hollywood is mourning one of it’s most recognizable faces.
Adam West, who immortalized the caped superhero for the 1960’s TV series Batman, died Friday after a short battle with leukemia at the age of 88.
“Our dad always saw himself as The Bright Knight and aspired to make a positive impact on his fans’ lives. He was and always will be our hero,” his family said in a statement.
Burt Ward, the Robin to West’s Batman, also released a statement remembering his good friend and costar.
“I am devastated at the loss of one my very dearest friends,” Ward said in a statement.

As a passionate fan of Trent Reznor's music for nearly a quarter-century, I knew this review would be quite an undertaking, but now the time has come to step up and swing. My initial thrill came early this year, when Nine Inch Nails' founder announced that his legendary band would not only be returning to the stage in 2013 after a four-year hiatus (and five years away from the studio), but had already been at work on the new album Hesitation Marks, so the excitement and anticipation was understandably high. The title, which refers to the tenuous flesh wounds made by someone contemplating suicide, suggested we were about to visit another very dark corner of Reznor's psyche – an idea reinforced by the return of mixed media artist Russell Mills, who created the cover for the band's darkest, most emotionally devastating album The Downward Spiral. But then came that inevitable...

Trent Reznor may be the face and name to Nine Inch Nails, but it’s a whole team behind him that puts together a tour, as a new Vevo behind-the-scenes feature shows. The 13-minute movie starts 18 days before Nine Inch Nails will play its first 2013 show at the Fuji Rock Festival on July 26. The band has already been rehearsing for a few months, but there’s still lots to be done in creating the multi-media show that Reznor is known for. Tensions escalate as the Fuji date approaches. “Trend demands, demands, demands excellence in everything,” says his Rob Sheridan, his...

Hannibal Buress is a wanted man, and it must feel good to be wanted. In December, the stand-up comedian and TV writer was tapped by the ABC network to develop a cop/comedy series that he, Hannibal Buress, would star in. The yet-to-be-titled program, which was to be co-written by Buress and Rob Sheridan, was said to be inspired by Buress’ stand-up, and would see him starring as a cop in a small town. No word on where that stands currently. But no matter, because Buress has now inked what THR calls a wide-ranging, multiplatform development deal with Comedy Central, which includes a pilot commitment that Buress will exec produce and star in, as well as a...

Just last month, we were excited to learn that industrial rock icon Trent Reznor will be re-assembling his legendary band Nine Inch Nails with an all-new lineup and a tour kicking off this summer. But that's not the only Trent event this year: this week, the experimental band How to Destroy Angels – a project Reznor founded with his wife Mariqueen Maandig, his fellow Golden Globe-winning composer Atticus Ross, and acclaimed visual artist Rob Sheridan – finally released their long-awaited full length album debut. After teasing us for two years with singles, EPs (the first self-titled release in 2010, followed by An Omen last fall) and some beautifully spooky music videos, they've made good on the ominous promise of those earlier experiments with a truly monolithic record that is equal parts ambient experimentation (in the vein of Nin's epic 1999 album The Fragile or their instrumental collection Ghosts I-iv) and dark, sultry electro-pop. While...

“I’ve been thinking for some time now it’s time to make Nin disappear for a while.”
So went Trent Reznor’s musings in early 2009 that announced the indefinite hiatus of Nine Inch Nails. Now, as music fans know ‘indefinite’ is often a lot more definite than most artists are wishing to let on – or admit to. So, with that announcement in mind a general feeling that this was not a hiatus but in fact the end fell upon most Nine Inch Nails fans, and was the general consensus of the music press and the music scene.
As Reznor went onto clarify, he would still be creating music but branching out beyond the Nine Inch Nails moniker, and whilst he was saying he’d never say never to producing music as Nine Inch Nails he saw no future for the band as a live entity for the foreseeable future.

We've been looking forward to more output from How To Destroy Angels, the dark electronic band formed by Nine Inch Nails founder Trent Reznor, his wife and vocalist Mariqueen Maandig, art director Rob Sheridan and Trent's fellow Golden Globe-winning composer Atticus Ross. The band's first video “The Space In Between” made our list for 2010's creepiest music video, their Ep An Omen made last year's Top Albums list, and today it looks like they're gunning for a spot on our 2013 list with their latest effort. “How Long?” a new single from the band's long-delayed but much anticipated full-length album Welcome Oblivion, is accompanied by a visual scenario that's even darker than the double murder depicted in their debut clip. Directed by the London-based visual arts collective Shynola, the film depicts a glowing-eyed wanderer fighting a life-or-death struggle in a dystopian future. The creative team worked with the band on fleshing...

Trent Reznor has hinted that Nine Inch Nails may release a new greatest hits compilation in 2014. The frontman revealed that he "intends to contribute" two new songs to a new collection, according to The New Yorker. He added that he also plans to write new music for a brand new full-length Nine Inch Nails album shortly afterwards. Nine Inch Nails went on an indefinite hiatus in 2009 after a farewell tour. Their last studio release was 2008's The Slip. Reznor has since been working on movie soundtracks while also focusing on his music project How To Destroy Angels with wife Mariqueen Maandig, Atticus Ross and Rob Sheridan. The musician also spoke about his upcoming collaboration with Dr Dre's Beats By Dre. He explained that it will be a music streaming project provisionally titled Daisy. (more)...

Determined to fulfill its campaign promises to increase the bumbling police presence on sitcom city streets next year, ABC has purchased yet another cop comedy to go with the three others it already has in development—this one starring Hannibal Buress, whose deadpan demeanor and focus on both details and petty grievances would indeed make him well suited for law enforcement. The show is co-written by Buress and Rob Sheridan and it's reportedly inspired by his stand-up, which suggests that Buress' "cop in a small town" character will mostly be charged with investigating the absurdity of certain phrases and ...

If that Mayan Calendar really does predict The End, Trent Reznor's band How To Destroy Angels is ready for whatever. You can tell they see it coming, because singer Mariqueen Maandig looks to the ocean when she sings "ocean." The band -- rounded out by Atticus Ross and Rob Sheridan -- goes predictably dour for Califone rip "Ice Age," the clip directed by "Lawless" helmer John Hillcoat. There's some beautiful long shots of Maandig and a palate to die for. I like the doves. "An Omen" indded. The band's Ep "An Omen" is already out and they've promised a full-length for 2013.

Founded in 2010 by multi-award-winning electronic rock legend Trent Reznor after the breakup (for the time being) of his iconic band Nine Inch Nails, How To Destroy Angels began as a three-piece unit, with Reznor's wife Mariqueen Maandig fronting the band on vocals, with instrumental duties divided up among all band members, including long-time creative collaborator Atticus Ross – who collected a Golden Globe award along with Reznor for the stunning score to David Fincher's film The Social Network. Since Htda's hauntingly sexy self-titled debut Ep dropped in 2010 (check out our review here), their bloody, surreal promo clip for “The Space in Between” made FEARnet's list for creepiest music video of that year, their cover of Bryan Ferry's “Is Your Love Strong Enough” (from Ridley Scott's epic film Legend) was heard in the Hollywood remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (the second film Reznor and Ross scored...

ABC is finalizing a deal to buy a comedy based on the book Home Game: An Accidental Guide To Fatherhood by Moneyball author Michael Lewis, which hails from The Closer executive producers Greer Shephard & Michael Robin and writer Rob Sheridan. This is one of 2 sales for Canadian writer-producer Rob Sheridan in his first stab at development in the U.S. this year. He has another comedy in the works at ABC, from ABC Studios and Courteney Cox and David Arquette’s Coquette Prods., about a formerly overweight young woman coming to grips with her new body while managing a restaurant that specializes in calorie-rich food. Home Game, which was adapted from a series of Slate essays, chronicles Lewis’ triumphs, failures, frustration and exhilaration of being a new father during the first year of each of his three children’s lives. Toronto -- Canadian screenwriter Rob Sheridan is partnering with Warner Bros. Television to develop a comedy.
The blind pilot script deal will see Toronto-based Sheridan, whose writer, story editor and producer credits include HBO Canada's "Less Than Kind," the CBC's "Little Mosque on the Prairie," and CTV's "Corner Gas," land a six-figure package and move to Los Angeles this summer to start developing a half-hour comedy series.
"Wbtv have produced some of my favorite television comedies and I think together we'll be able to create something special," Sheridan said.
The Canuck comedy scribe's most recent credits include writer and producer on the CBC sitcom "18 to Life," which was originally developed with ABC.
Sheridan, a Canadian Film Center alumni, is repped by William Morris Endeavor Entertainment and Glenn Cockburn at Meridian Artists.
