Toho has released the first trailer for their Godzilla: Monster Planet anime film and it looks pretty freakin' awesome! This first trailer gives us a great tease of what this movie will entail and it's very different from anything we've ever seen from the Godzilla franchise! The story is set 20,000 years in the future and the planet Earth is ruled by Godzilla and other kaiju monsters and the humans want to take it back!
This film will be Toho's 30th Godzilla movie and I can't wait to see it! Here's the detailed synopsis:
The last summer of the 20th century. On that day, the human race realized that they were not the only ruler of the planet earth.
The emergence of gigantic monsters “kaiju” and the ultimate existence that even can destroy the kaijus, Godzilla. After half-century of the war against the kaijus, the human race repeatedly defeated and decided to escape from the earth.

Last year it was announced that Toho was developing a Godzilla anime film for Netflix. As a fan of anime and Godzilla, this is a project I'm really excited about. We now have some new information to share with you regarding the plot, and we have some new concept art thanks to CrunchyRoll.
The anime film will be called Godzilla: Monster Planet, and it will mark Toho's 30th Godzilla movie! This film is also going to tell a story unlike any other Godzilla story we've seen before as it's set 20,000 years in the future and the planet Earth is ruled by Godzilla and other monsters.
The film focuses on a character named Haruo, featured in the poster above, who returns to Earth after the human race leaves it at the turn of the 20th century after Godzilla and other Kaiju beasts rise up and drive them out. Haruo's parents were killed by Godzilla,...

After more than 50 years, the King of the Monsters is getting the anime treatment. Toho is producing their first-ever Godzilla anime film, which will be heading to Netflix later this year.
After years of inactivity, the Godzilla franchise has become very productive lately. 2014 gave us Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla, which will spawn a sequel Godzilla: King of the Monsters in 2019. A Japanese version by Toho called Shin Godzilla came out last year, winning Best Picture at the Japanese Academy Awards. And 2020 will give us the long-awaited crossover remake Godzilla vs. King Kong. On top of all that, we’re getting an anime film.
According to the site Bloody Disgusting, Netflix Japan announced the new animated film via Twitter. Co-Produced by Toho and Polygon Pictures. The film will be scripted by Gen Urobuchi and co-directed by Hiroyuki Seshita and Kôbun Shizuno, along with a voice actor cast including Yuuki Kaji, Takahiro Sakurai,...

In case you weren't aware, Toho and Polygon Pictures have been collaborating for the past year on an exciting looking Godzilla anime! Judging from the new concept art (pictured below), it looks like the series is a mixture of Gundam meets kaiju? I like the idea of human piloted mechs searching out Godzilla, as that's something that an actual film would have trouble accomplishing without a massive budget!
Those who deeply follow the world of anime may be excited to learn that the cast includes Yuki Kaji, Takahiro Sakurai, Tomokazu Sugita, Junichi Suwabe, Kana Hanazawa, and Mamoru Miyano! Those names don't mean too much to me personally, but Crunchyroll seemed very high up on the castings. Expect to hear more about this project and possibly see a teaser sometime in late March!

The media distribution service Crunchyroll announced on Wednesday that it will stream the Cuticle Detective Inaba television anime series. The series will stream on Fridays, starting on January 4th, 2013 at 10:00 p.m. Est. The series will be available for members in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, and Scandinavia.
Yes, I know, it’s kinda (ok, more than ‘kinda’) silly name, but the plot seems interesting enough. The anime adaptation of Mochi’s manga tells the story of Hiroshi Inaba, a part-man, part-wolf, former ‘secret doberman’ who begins his own detective agency. The anime has also premiered on January 4th, 2013 in Japan, and the manga is currently running in Square Enix’s G Fantasy magazine.
The show stars Junichi Suwabe as Hiroshi Inaba and Toru Okawa as Don Valentino. Other cast members include Nobuhiko Okamoto, Yumi Shimura, Rina Hidaka, Miyu Irino,...
