Wanda Maximoff’s assault on the Illuminati citadel left the premiere superhero team of Earth 838 dismantled and massacred. The Illuminati was survived by Baron Mordo and the missing member of the team who was expected to be seated in the empty chair (heavily rumored to be Daniel Craig’s Baldur the Brave).

X-Men ’97 once again hinted at an established Marvel concept, that of fixed points in timelines, famously dubbed as canon events in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. These points in time are usually events that cannot be undone no matter what and are destined to occur across timelines. If the X-Men ’97 universe indeed exists in the same multiverse as the MCU, it is possible that the show could have hinted at the thing event that Wolverine failed to save his world in Deadpool & Wolverine.

X-Men ’97 has been diving into a host of storylines from the comics, not refraining from going towards the more complex plot points that make an appearance in X-Men comics. Characters from the original animated series have been making a comeback in X-Men ’97. This has also allowed a slew of actors from the original series to return to their roles. However there is one actor who has returned in a completely different form, but still holds the fate of his character from X-Men ’97 in his hands.
A.J. LoCascio’s Gambit in X-Men ’97
Chris Potter originally voiced Gambit in X-Men: The Animated Series, a role that A.J. LoCascio has now taken over. However, the character met his end in Episode 5, Remember It, where the world witnessed an assault on Genosha at the hands of what seems to be Mister Sinister. After spending years as a respected leader of the sovereign mutant nation Krakoa, Cyclops is back on the run. With Krakoa destroyed and humanity ready to oppress mutants again, Cyclops has gone back home to Alaska to refresh and regroup.
And yet, things have never been better for Scott Summers a.k.a. Cyclops. The upcoming From the Ashes relaunch will force the X-Men back into the world after the end of Krakoa in the Fall of X storyline, with a new X-Men book with Cyclops in the lead.

Cyclops is the defacto leader of the X-Men, but he has rarely received a chance to shine outside the comic book medium. However, the character is front and center of the team of mutant superheroes in X-Men ’97, a revival of the hit 90s cartoon series.
A still from X-Men ‘97
While the revival can be a vehicle to explore Cyclops’ leadership, one of his darkest choices from the comics is too unhinged for the animated series. In the comics, Cyclops opted for biological warfare during a delicate situation that led to genocide. Given the nature of Cyclops’ choice, the decision proved controversial, allowing for a reflection on his leadership.

In recent years, after multiple setbacks stemming from makers taking audiences for granted, Marvel Studios has doubled down on the nostalgia pandering in major ways, be it through crossovers, cameos, or revamping beloved classics. The studio’s recent attempt to celebrate the integration of mutants as mainstay characters of the MCU through X-Men’97, a continuation of fan favorite X-Men: The Animated Series, is another such attempt, but one that exudes novelty, heart, and enough care to make the transition between the original and sequel series appear seamless.
As the premiere team of the Marvel universe, the X-Men and Mutants saga arguably command the most important section of the franchise’s storytelling potential, as time and again, the representation of the marginalized, repressed section of humankind has been reflected through their stories in vivid ways. If you’re a fan of comic books and superheroes in general, you may already know how power creeping works in the most basic sense, and Marvel Comics is not alien to that phenomenon. Time and time again, we have seen members of The Avengers and The X-Men facing impossible odds in the form of supervillains who can very well be regarded as gods by mortals.

But apart from the Mad Titan Thanos with the infinity stones in his possession as seen in the MCU, the villains and heroes from Marvel Comics will make him look like a pale hamster in comparison.
Thankfully, the X-Men have their own version of a god named Miranda, who has the implausible and mind-numbing ability to do anything with the fabric of the Marvel Comics universe, which will make The One Above All look like a toddler.

The character of Bishop first appeared in "The Uncanny X-Men" #282 in November 1991. When he gets blasted by a laser beam or radioactive ray, Bishop can absorb the energy into his body and redirect it back at his attacker. He has been a reliable supporting player in X-Men comics ever since 1991. He has also appeared in "X-Men: The Animated Series," and was played by Omar Sy in 2014's "X-Men: Days of Future Past."
Bishop is also, notably, a time traveler. In the lore of "X-Men: The Animated Series," he came to the present (1993) from a dystopian 2055 that had been overrun by mutant-killing Sentinels. Bishop (played by Philip Aiken) aimed to assassinate one of the X-Men, believing that their death will undo the grim future. Luckily, the misunderstanding was cleared up, and a different assassination was prevented. Bishop returned to 2055 after assuming he had repaired the timeline... but nothing had changed. There...

The 34-year-old British actor Nicholas Hoult kicked off production last week on Warner Bros. The star of “About a Boy,” “Mad Max: Fury Road,” and Hulu series “The Great” recently went on Michael Rosenbaum’s “Inside of You” podcast and talked a bit about preparing for the role of the evil mastermind Lex Luthor.
First, he complimented his new boss Gunn for making the audition process fun. He said he enjoyed the “Guardians of the Galaxy” auteur’s method of “try[ing] things in the moment, just shouting out from the monitors, ‘Say this line. Do this! Do that!’”
Then he added that even though Luthor is better known for his brains rather than his brawn, Hoult has been hitting the weights. “There’s that bit in ‘All-Star Superman’ [the Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely...

With the anticipation for the upcoming Superman getting higher and higher with each passing day, it’s natural for the fans to also want to know what the main antagonist will look like to match the superhero’s prestige. For that, James Gunn has brought Nicholas Hoult to play the role of the evil mastermind Lex Luthor in the project.

But despite the star being deemed by the co-ceo of DC Studios to be perfect for the role of the main antagonist, the star still has to live up to the legacy of several iterations of the villain over the years in the industry.
While every single version may have had its own charm to it, Hoult believes that Michael Rosenbaum’s version of Luthor in Smallville was exceptional, which is why it’s his and Gunn’s favorite.

The reveal was a big surprise to audiences, even Teyonah Parris, who was actually in the scene but had no idea she would be sharing the screen with the iconic X-Men character.

While it can’t be denied that The Marvels dire box office isn’t cause for any celebration at Marvel, the silver lining is fan reaction to a post-credits scene that opens the door to a potentially huge MCU franchise:
Spoilers Ahead!
The X-Men. Having not been seen on-screen since 2019’s Dark Phoenix, the characters seemed primed to make a significant comeback in 2024 and beyond. While the initial plan seemed to have been to recast all of the most iconic roles, Patrick Stewart’s cameo as Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Hugh Jackman’s co-starring role as Wolverine in Deadpool 3 seems to hint this is no longer the case.
Indeed, The Marvels’ post-credit sequence reveals another icon X-Men actor reprising their role…
More Spoilers!
…none other than Kelsey Grammer as Dr. Hank McCoy, aka Beast! This may strike some as a surprising cameo,...

“The Marvels” are here.
The super-heroic team, consisting of Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Monica Rambeau/Photon (Teyonah Parris) and Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani), join together to rid the galaxy of a villainous threat orchestrated by Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton). Also their light-based powers are hopelessly entangled so that makes it difficult to strike out on your own. Not only are they faced with stopping a powerful foe (one that has a connection to both Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel) but they also have to figure out their group dynamics, especially since every time they use their powers they switch places with one another.
But what lies beyond the movie itself? To answer that we must first issue a major spoiler warning. If you haven’t seen “The Marvels” yet, turn back now, we’re diving deep into “The Marvels” credits scene. This will be here when you get back.

We usually start these posts mentioning that fans often wonder if there’s going to be a post-credits scene for the movie they’re watching, but when it’s a Marvel movie, you know there will be one for sure!
The Marvels is now in theaters and everyone is going to be talking about what happens during the scenes at the end of this movie.
In the new film, Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris). Let’s be honest, it’s tough times for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After mixed bag misfire Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania led into the utterly dismal waste of time that was Secret Invasion, the MCU no longer demands the attention it enjoyed before Avengers: Endgame. Not even the excellent Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 or the really good second season of Loki seems to restore confidence.
All of which puts a lot of pressure on The Marvels, the last MCU movie released this year. The Marvels may be a sequel to the box office-breaking Captain Marvel, as well as great MCU Disney+ shows WandaVision and Ms. Marvel, but it’s tracking for a remarkably low opening, and one can sense the desperation in the final trailer for The Marvels. The emphasis in the marketing on extended universe stuff does a disservice...

To comic book fans, X-Men is one of the most fruitful franchises in the Marvel stable. Not only have the heroes that Stan Lee and Jack Kirby created in 1962 launched numerous other teams, including X-Factor and the New Mutants, but many of its characters have gone on to star in their own solo series, including Storm, Cable, and, of course, Wolverine. But that’s not been the case for the mutants’ movie counterparts. While Wolverine has enjoyed a trio of solo movies of wildly different quality, and Deadpool’s third outing is in the works, the X-Men on screen have been largely relegated to being team players.
Of course, 20th Century Fox wanted to create more solo movies after X-Men Origins: Wolverine, including stand-alone adventures for Magneto and Professor X. However, between Wolverine’s poor performance, itself preceded by the lackluster X-Men: The Last Stand three years earlier, solo projects...

Michael Kopsa, a Canadian actor whose roles on hits and cult-favorites like The X-Files, Highlander, Smallville and Stargate Sg-1 made him an immediately recognizable TV presence, died Sunday, Oct. 23, of complications from a brain tumor. He was 66.
His death was announced on Twitter by his ex-wife, actor Lucia Frangione.
“The great Michael Kopsa, my dear friend and the father of my child, Nora, passed away Oct. 23, 2022, of a brain tumor,” she wrote yesterday. “He was an incredible stage and screen actor, voice actor, carpenter, musician and painter. Most importantly, he was a loving and richly present father.”
A Toronto native, Kopsa studied acting at New York’s Circle in the Square Theater School for four years in the mid-1980s. He subsequently returned to Canada to attend the University of Toronto. Throughout his career he would perform in series filmed or made in Toronto or Vancouver.

One of the most exciting things about the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is that just about any character from Marvel comics could possibly appear. There are movies about every corner of the Marvel universe, from "The Eternals" to "The Guardians of the Galaxy." One beloved superhero team that has yet to make the jump to the MCU is the X-Men, in large part because the rights were owned by 20th Century Fox until 2019. With the rights to the mutant team now over at Disney, it's only a matter of time before the X-Men join the MCU, and that means figuring out who to cast as Professor Charles Xavier and his strange superhero squad.
Despite the fact that Hugh Jackman said that he would never re-don the claws, Jackman's back as Wolverine in the upcoming "Deadpool 3." Some of the rest of the previous cast from the other "X-Men" movies are pretty beloved,...

This article contains spoilers for the last two years or so of Marvel X-Men comics.
“Humans of the planet Earth. While you slept, the world changed.”
The opening line of Jonathan Hickman and Pepe Larraz’s House of X hit like a bolt of lightning, and everything it promised paid off. Hickman took over the floundering X-Men line of comics, isolated and diminished after years of corporate meddling, and reinvigorated them creatively and financially with an exciting five-year plan.
House of X and Powers of X was Hickman, Larraz, Rb Silva and Marte Gracia’s overture. It started with a barrage of resets and retcons: the opening page of House of X #1 heralded the change with a designed infographic with Professor X announcing the new order to the world, and the issue jumped right in with what appeared to be Cyclops hatching from an egg with a sinister-looking, walking, helmeted Professor X summoning him.

Decades ago, in Uncanny X-Men #168, Kitty Pryde dared to say something bold yet true, “Charles Xavier is a jerk!” She was right, and the world has been better for it.
Professor Charles Xavier’s jerkdom transcends all media he has made an appearance in; it’s that powerful. He is an omega level clown, which is probably why he treats his X-Men like circus acts. You have to wow those humans in hopes of getting them to treat you like your mutant life matters, at least according to Xavier’s teachings. Now that X-Men: The Animated Series is available to stream on Disney+, here is a list of episodes filled with all of the Professor’s best-worst moments and how he is more of a danger to the X-Men than anyone else.

“I know an aerospace engineer who’d be up for this challenge.”
That single sentence spoken by Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau in WandaVision episode 5 has sparked a world of speculation for MCU fans. This doesn’t seem like the kind of thing that would just be casually dropped into the dialogue unless it wasn’t going to have some kind of meaning for the Marvel Cinematic universe sown the road.
So who might this mysterious “aerospace engineer” be? We have some theories…
Reed Richards
“What I need is a 10,000 pound fallout shelter comprised of lead for photons, cadmium for neutrons, tantalum for seismic blasts…on wheels” Monica says.
In other words, she’s looking for something that is heavily radiation shielded and stress tested. The kind of material and vehicle that could, for example, withstand a barrage of cosmic rays in space. Monica is trying...

After The Boys‘ Antony Starr admitted that he’d love to play the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s rebooted version of Wolverine, fan art imagining how the actor could look in the role quickly appeared online, so it stands to reason that the same will happen now that his onscreen love interest has also thrown her hat into the ring by revealing that she’d like to suit up as one of the comic book mutants as well.
Starr’s Homelander might be a megalomaniacal and despicable villain under his clean cut All-American exterior, but he pales in comparison to Aya Cash’s Stormfront, who has proven to be a most welcome addition to the cast of Amazon’s smash hit series. As well as featuring in one of the most bizarre sex scenes to be found on the small screen, Homelander and Stormfront have shown that they’re perfect for...

When the first X-Men movie opened in July 2000, the film featured a mix of founding X-Men team members like Cyclops (James Marsden) and Jean Grey (Famke Janssen) plus later recruits like Storm (Halle Berry), Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), and Rogue (Anna Paquin).
But fans of the original Stan Lee/Jack Kirby comics knew that several members of the original team lineup, namely Beast and Angel, were nowhere to be found in the movie, while Iceman (Shawn Ashmore) was portrayed as a student at the Xavier School and did not join the team officially until the third film, X-Men: The Last Stand (where Angel also made his debut).
It turns out, however, that Beast, a.k.a. Dr. Hank McCoy — whose brilliant intellect is matched only by his superhuman strength and blue-furred appearance — was in several drafts of the first X-Men movie, along with the similarly blue-skinned, teleporting Nightcrawler.

Introducing the X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a tricky proposition, and not just because we’ve already seen a dozen movies featuring the characters already, with The New Mutants still planned to escape from cinematic purgatory eventually, too. Due to previous rights issues, the McU has never been allowed to use the word ‘mutant’ before, so how they explain their existence and subsequent debut in a mythology that’s existed with its own set of rules for over a decade has to be handled very carefully.
While the reboot isn’t expected to arrive until the tail-end of Phase Five at the earliest, there’s nonetheless been almost constant speculation about how Charles Xavier’s students will be absorbed into the McU, and now tipster Mikey Sutton has claimed that Beast could be one of the first members of the team to show up and it won’t...

Fox’s time in charge of the X-Men was characterized by inconsistency, as you would no doubt have expected from a series that included sequels, reboots, sequels to reboots and spinoffs, but after sitting pretty as one of Hollywood’s biggest franchises for almost two decades, the mutants went out on a decidedly low note, with Dark Phoenix earning scathing reviews and becoming the biggest box office bomb of last year, while The New Mutants has recently been given its fifth different release date. Although, with the pic’s history, there’s every chance it could slip back into cinematic purgatory once more.
With the characters now in the hands of Marvel Studios, most fans likely won’t have an issue with seeing Charles Xavier’s team being reinvented once again seeing as their crossover potential has increased tenfold, but we won’t be seeing the McU’s X-Men for a long time yet.
