Members of Prime Video’s Gen V and Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina took to social media this weekend to remember their late co-star, Chance Perdomo, who recently died in a motorcycle accident.
Perdomo was 27. He was best known for playing Andre Anderson in Gen V, a popular student at Godolkin University who is capable of magnetically manipulating things. The actor also appeared in Ambrose Spellman in Netflix’s Sabrina. Ambrose was the cousin of protagonist Sabrina, played by Kiernan Shipka.
Patrick Schwarzenegger, Perdomo’s Gen V co-star who portrays Luke, Andre’s best friend, posted on his Instagram Stories Sunday with several photos of himself and his late friend, the last with the message, “Hope you’re up in heaven with a cigar.”
Schwarzenegger later posted to X, formerly Twitter, “This hurts. A lot. What a young talented actor, and a great friend – gone way too soon.”

Photograph by Courtesy of HBO/Shutterstock With word coming out that Ridley Scott is set to direct a Bee Gees biopic, it’s well worth spotlighting a documentary released a couple of years ago that told the story of the legendary Brothers Gibb from the family’s point of view. Director Frank Marshall put The Bee Gees: How Can You Mend a Broken Heart together largely using footage shot by the family and their associates. When Marshall, who also produced the film, was doing his research, he said he came across plenty of previously undiscovered gems, some of which really surprised him. [This story contains major spoilers from the season four finale of For All Mankind.]
Krys Marshall had a different ending in mind for NASA Commander Danielle Poole. It’s fitting since For All Mankind is revisionist history, after all.
“It’s based on the premise of the Russians getting to the moon first, ahead of the Americans, and it sends our world into a place where the space race never ends,” explains Marshall of the Apple TV+ series. “Because of that, both technological advancements and social advancements continue in a way that they wouldn’t have had the space race been won by the U.S. The world as we know it is altered, I think, for the better.”
Her character began as one of a dozen female astronauts in 1969 and has grown over the four seasons of the Apple TV+ series — which span more than 30 years — to become a commander on Mars in 2003.

Artificial intelligence is coming for TV advertising.
NBCUniversal on Monday used CES to unveil the latest update to its One Platform ad platform, called One Platform Total Audience. And yes, it has AI.
Mark Marshall, NBCUniversal’s advertising sales chairman, tells The Hollywood Reporter that the company is serious about incorporating machine learning into its ad processes.
“It’s creating the media plan. So where an agency might create a media plan saying, ‘we should put this much in linear, we should put this much in digital,’ then when it comes to us, we’re able to take it really down to the granular level,” Marshall says. “Probably where you’ll see AI continue to make a difference with us is, our schedules are always fluid. So when we add a new special, when we add a new movie, we’ll use AI to figure out based on genre tone,...

TV has long been the place where advertisers go to get the broadest audiences in media. But NBCUniversal is touting it as a venue where Madison Avenue can also find some of its narrowest.
The company, which has spent months pressing advertisers to envision deals that encompass both traditional TV and new-tech streaming, is planning for a year in which half of all advertising agreements are based on a search for niches of consumers built around an interest in a particular product or attribute, not on typical definitions such as viewers between the ages of 18 and 49. Such audience pockets might develop around people in the market for a new car, or a consumer interested in attending a first-run movie. New technology NBCU is unveiling aims to provide new ways to reach viewers through a single buy across linear and streaming, rather than with separate plans for each.

Cat Power and Iggy Pop have teamed up for a new cover of John Lennon’s “Working Class Hero.”
The cover arrives as a single from an upcoming compilation album titled The Faithful: A Tribute to Marianne Faithfull, organized by In The Q Records, Bandbox, and the Women of Rock Oral History Project to help raise funds for Faithfull as she “recovers from Long Covid.” Thus, the version of the song that Cat Power’s Chan Marshall and Pop have delivered pays homage to Faithfull’s 1979 version of the song, with a driving beat and an ambient sense of tension.
Overtop, Marshall’s multi-tracked vocals carry Lennon’s powerful words, while Pop dips in throughout with spoken word lines, sounding almost like a late-career Leonard Cohen, proclaiming a solemn truth with a low, commanding growl. Listen to the single below.
In a statement, Marshall expressed her excitement to be part of the project.

A pilot shot down over Afghanistan. Insurgents determined to kill her. A ragtag unit of soldiers desperately holding out against the odds. An underground bunker full of humanoid monsters with slimy skin and nasty sharp pointy teeth. You might well feel that you’ve seen this film – or two films, here spliced together – many times before. There is however a reason why Neil Marshall’s latest offering has been such a hit with genre fans, and that’s that it brings a freshness to the whole enterprise which makes it much more fun than, by any reasonable standard, it ought to be.
The pilot is Kate Sinclair, played by Charlotte Kirk, who previously appeared in Marshall’s silly but enjoyable Cromwell-era revenge tale The Reckoning. Then, as now, Kirk sports immaculate make-up, even when dirt and bruises have been applied over the top of it. She does a lot of her own.

Stars: Charlotte Kirk, Jamie Bamber, Jonathan Howard, Hadi Khanjanpour, Tanji Kibong, Leon Ockenden, Troy Alexander | Written and Directed by Neil Marshall
Director Neil Marshall returns with a soldiers-vs-monsters thriller that harks back to his 2002 debut Dog Soldiers. Unfortunately, it’s something of a mixed bag – there are some entertainingly gloopy gore moments and the monsters are suitably monstrous, but the film is ultimately let down by dismal acting, a dull script and flat direction.
Charlotte Kirk plays Flight Lieutenant Kate Sinclair, who gets shot down over a rebel stronghold in Afghanistan. Fleeing her attackers, she takes refuge in an abandoned underground bunker and unwittingly unleashes an army of toothy monsters.

“Queen Charlotte,” the “Bridgerton” prequel series, arrives on May 4 while a new season of Tim Robinson’s sketch series “I Think You Should Leave” drops on May 30. Netflix recently announced it would be investing $2.5 billion into South Korean programming. Before Squid Game season 2 comes down the pike, however, the first seeds of that investment will bear fruit for Netflix in May 2023.
Netflix’s list of new releases for May 2023 is highlighted by the May 12 release of Korean series Black Knight. Set “in a dystopian 2071 devastated by air pollution,” this show will follow world-saving deliverymen known as “Black Knights.” Other international offerings this month include Japanese sumo drama Sanctuary on May 4 and Spanish crime thriller Muted on May 19.
Netflix’s domestic TV options this month include Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story on May 4. That will be followed by post-apocalyptic animated comedy Mulligan on May 12 and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s TV debut Fubar on May 25. And for those hoping for “triples,” I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson premieres on May 30.

‘Love Is Blind’ Star Josh Seemingly Got Engaged To Another Contestant Before His Romance With Jackie
Looks like there was one very interesting “Love Is Blind” engagement that didn’t make the cut in season 4. Contestant Monica Rodriguez, who received very limited screen time, recently took to her Instagram to flash a giant square-cut diamond.

Disney‘s CinemaCon panel is underway, with new footage from The Little Mermaid dazzling event guests. During The Little Mermaid presentation, Melissa McCarthy, who plays the villain, Ursula, took the stage. She introduced her iconic musical number, “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” from the upcoming film. JoBlo’s Chris Bumbray is our boots on the ground at CinemaCon this week. He says the song gives off a burlesque vibe, with McCarthy having a great time strutting her stuff.
Unfortunately, Chris also says the lighting of the film is poor. It’s worth noting the preview is screening in Dolby Vision, so there’s little excuse for the clip to look as dark as it does. Still, Chris says the cast looks good, and Halle Bailey could win audiences over with her outstanding performance. Overall, the film seems faithful to the animated original, even if aspects of the plot and music will change for the new version.

Disney's never-ending line of live-action remakes continues in May — there's actually another one later this week, in "Peter Pan & Wendy" — with "The Little Mermaid." Featuring new songs from Lin-Manuel Miranda ("Hamilton"), who's also among the producers alongside director Rob Marshall ("Chicago"), the underwater tale of Ariel the Mermaid is unfurling on the big screen next month. Halle Bailey ("Grown-ish") plays Ariel, with Jonah Hauer-King ("A Dog's Way Home") as Eric, the human prince she falls in love with.
Awkwafina ("The Farewell"), Daveed Diggs ("Hamilton"), and Jacob Tremblay ("Room") lend their voices to King Triton's trusted crab servant Sebastian, Ariel's dimwitted seabird friend Scuttle, and Ariel's tropical fish best friend Flounder, respectively. Javier Bardem is playing Ariel's father, King Triton, with Noma Dumezweni ("The Watcher") as Eric's mother Queen Selina, an original character. Lastly, Melissa McCarthy plays the conniving sea witch Ursula, who has ambitions to take over Triton's kingdom.

"I don't like feeling like the second most important man in your life..." Apple has unveiled the first official trailer for their new comedy series titled Platonic, a sort of anti-romcom from the genius comedy minds of Nick Stoller, Seth Rogen, and Rose Byrne. Streaming on Apple TV+ this May for anyone who is ready for some good laughs. Platonic follows a platonic pair of former best friends approaching their midlife (Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne) who reconnect after a long rift, hoping to get past that rift that led to their falling out. The duo's friendship becomes all consuming—and destabilizes their lives in a hilarious way. The ensemble cast also stars Luke Macfarlane, Tre Hale, Carla Gallo, and Andrew Lopez. This looks hilarious! I still can't tell if it's a series or a movie, because this trailer plays like a good movie trailer. I'm down anyway. This is going to be fun!

The new season of Love Is Blind is in progress, and viewers are captivated by this season’s cast. The nature of the show brings so many questions to the fore beyond simple first-sight attraction. So naturally, other factors besides the physical become important — like money.
The current cast has eligible bachelors who all represent some of the best society has to offer. But prestige isn’t everything when it comes to a long-term romance that makes the transition to marriage. So which of the male cast members makes the most money?

Ever the optimist, Jimmy Fallon tried to make Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell feel better after a recent Morning Consult poll revealed he is the least popular senator in the country, carrying an approval rating of just 28%.
In the Friday night bit, the “Tonight Show” host on NBC pulled together several fake quotes from other U.S. senators offering “words of encouragement” for McConnell — but really they just served to insult a handful of senators instead of just one.
Fallon’s writing team had each senator let McConnell know it could always be worse, revealing their own issues with feedback from their constituents. Be sure to check out the video above, as many of the hilarious digs are based on the politicians’ looks.

The drama surrounding the “Love Is Blind” Season 4 live reunion kicked off long before the livestream fiasco on Sunday night.
Cast member Jackelina Bonds, one of the most polarizing personalities of the latest season, confirmed to TheWrap that Netflix canceled her flight to attend the live reunion taping, citing concerns for her “mental health,” despite her own desire to be there.
“They had me talk to a psychologist, and the psychologist was the one that told us that we weren’t gonna go. That was how it went down,” Bonds told TheWrap. “They called on a three-way [conference call], and they were kind of, ‘Oh, due to your mental health, we think it’s best for you to… not come to the reunion.’”

Over the weekend, the “Love Is Blind” reunion made headlines. But though the season 4 conclusion was filled with plenty of drama, it was Netflix’s inability to get the event, which had been advertised as its second live special, to stream on time.
After promises that they were waiting to start the special until it could stream, Netflix eventually gave up and recorded the reunion. While some users were able to watch several hours after the original start time due to a glitch in the system, the official global release of the reunion did not take place until 19 hours later on Monday.
“We had just a bug that we introduced, actually, when we implemented some changes to try and improve live streaming performance after the last live broadcast,” co-ceo Greg Peters said Tuesday afternoon during a Q&a for investors, per Vanity Fair. “We just didn’t see this bug...

'The Little Mermaid' director Rob Marshall has praised Melissa McCarthy for bringing "depth" to Ursula. The filmmaker has opened up on the decision to cast the 'Bridesmaids' actress as the iconic sea witch who steals the voice from Ariel (Halle Bailey) in the live action reboot, and how "daunting" it was to get the right person in the role, who was originally inspired by drag queen Divine. He told SFX magazine: "I love that she was originally inspired by Divine [Harris Glenn Milstead], the wonderful drag actor, who was so original and so funny."I thought, 'Well, who’s going to be able to bring the humor and the depth?' Because this is now a live-action piece, it can’t just be a funny character, it has to have a great deal of depth."Who can do that and sing – really sing – and bring originality? I wanted a woman of size,...

Love is Blind fans aren’t happy about the season four reunion.
While some fans “loved the drama” that unfolded in the show, the majority are calling it “the most boring Love is Blind reunion I’ve ever seen”.
Many people are also calling out the show producers to remove Nick and Vanessa Lachey as the hosts, with many saying they were “awkward as hosts” and “picked sides” with certain cast members.
This season, it was revealed that couples Kwame Appiah and Chelsea Griffin, Zack Goytowski and Bliss Poureetezadi, and Brett Brown and Tiffany Pennywell were happily married one year later.
Paul Peden and Micah Lussier came face-to-face for the first time since calling it quits, and Marshall Glaze and Jackelina Bonds still had tension between them despite Bonds not showing up for the reunion.
“Omg the Love is Blind reunion is ruthless. Is it me or are they hammering these people?...

After some technical difficulties, Netflix’s Love Is Blind Season 4 reunion aired on Sunday evening. While fans of the show were abuzz with their hot takes about the contestants during the reunion and after, they were also quite vocal about one of the hosts: Vanessa Lachey. Here’s what some fans of the show are saying about the actor/model, as well as her hosting background.

Maybe even more than Jackie, maybe even more than Irina, Vanessa seems to be getting a lot of flak from fans after the Season 4 reunion. People aren’t exactly on board with the way she hosts.
One thing people criticized the host for is speaking more than her co-host and husband, Nick Lachey. “I was amazed to hear Nick speak lol,...

Another season of Love is Blind is in the can, but fans are already speaking out about changes they would like for Love is Blind Season 5.
As previously reported, the Love is Blind Season 4 live reunion was marred by technical difficulties, forcing many fans to wait until Monday afternoon to watch in its entirety.

The hosts came under fire for their line of questioning towards certain cast members during the special event.
As a result, social media lit up with criticism for the pair, and there are even campaigns to have the couple removed from the show.

"Love Is Blind" is all social media could talk about Sunday night - but not necessarily for the messy drama viewers were looking forward to. Netflix originally announced that the reality dating show would air its first-ever live reunion on April 16 to close out its fourth season, which concluded on April 14. However, the highly anticipated event, hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey, was delayed for over an hour before the streamer shared an update revealing the special would premiere later than expected.

Spoiler Alert: If you haven’t watched season 4 of Love Is Blind and the reunion special, proceed with caution.
Though it was billed as Netflix’s second-ever live special, “Love Is Blind” fans were disappointed on Sunday evening when the streaming service struggled to get the event going for more than an hour.
Co-host Vanessa Lachey took to her Instagram to share that they had been experiencing technical difficulties, and eventually Netflix shared that the reunion was being filmed and they were planning to have it on Netflix “as soon as humanly possible.”
For those diehard fans who stuck out the delay, the payoff was well worth it as the reunion skimmed the surface of the love stories, but scooped deep into the drama.
Season 4 stars Chelsea Griffin, Paul Peden, Micah Lussier, Kwame Appiah, Zack Goytowski, Bliss Poureetezadi, Tiffany Pennywell, Brett Brown, and Irina Solomonova were all in attendance.

“I don’t regret how I handled him,” she said of her ex, assuring that she took care of him in “the correct way.”

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for the Love Is Blind Season 4.] Jackie and Marshall’s breakup will go down as one of the most memorable Love Is Blind splits. The pair called it quits after Jackie was a no show for wedding dress shopping with the rest of the cast — a decision she made without informing Marshall. He was at the men’s tuxedo shopping appointment with the rest of the guys when Brett (via Tiffany) broke the painful news. Warning: This story contains spoilers from the “Love Is Blind” Season 4 finale, now streaming on Netflix.
It’s never a dull moment on “Love Is Blind,” and Season 4 was no different. During the finale, which dropped on Netflix on Friday, it was time for the weddings. While viewers weren’t surprised by fan-favorite couple Tiffany and Brett saying yes at the altar, they weren’t the only engaged pair to tie the knot.
Chelsea and Kwame put all their differences aside and said yes, as did Bliss and Zack — who didn’t even get engaged until after the pods. While Jackie and Marshall didn’t make it to the altar, Micah and Paul did. When she was asked for her choice, she asked Paul to go first, and he said no.
Variety spoke with Kinetic CEO and “Love Is Blind” creator Chris Coelen to break down the ups and downs...
