While the band was touring in West Germany in 1978,
Grace Slick was so drunk that she couldn't perform and the band was forced to cancel their performance. This caused many in the audience to riot. The very next night the band did perform but during the performance a very inebriated Slick made several remarks about World War II as well as making several sexual comments. Because of this
Paul Kantner, her former lover and the band's leader, asked for her resignation and she left a few days later.
