Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist concluded their whirlwind romance Thursday night the same way it began, live on national television.
The inaugural Golden Bachelor couple said “I do” in front of 150 guests (and all those watching at home) at the La Quinta Resort & Club in La Quinta, California. Deadline was invited, along with select other press, to attend the Golden Wedding in person.
While much of the production made it to the live show, there was also plenty that went on behind the scenes to pull off the event. Although the cameras started rolling at 5 p.m. Pt, guests began arriving around 4 p.m. to check in and get ready to walk the golden carpet to the pre-ceremony cocktail hour.
During the cocktail hour, guests enjoyed appetizers, including a nacho bar and meatballs. They were also treated to themed cocktails, like the “Birthday Suit,” harkening back to Theresa’s arrival...

Inside ‘The Golden Bachelor’ Wedding: Unaired Speeches, Guest Warnings and More You Didn’t See on TV
Bachelor Nation knows a thing or two about a wedding special. They’ve been able to pull it off effortlessly through the years — from Trista Rehn and Ryan Sutter’s 2003 nuptials to the most recent “I do” between Kenny Braasch and Mari Pepin, which aired as a part of this season’s “Bachelor in Paradise.”
However, the last time a wedding special aired live was when Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici married in 2014. Ten years later, “The Golden Bachelor” couple Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist did just that — with all the above individuals in attendance — at the La Quinta Resort and Club just outside Palm Springs, Calif.
Variety, along with a select few other reporters, attended the ceremony and the reception. The special aired on ABC from 8-10 p.m. Et, but guests began arriving (and actually checking in at an event table) about an hour beforehand. To be fair,...

Spoiler Alert! This post contains details from the Season 9 finale of Bachelor in Paradise.
It’s the end of the road for Bachelor in Paradise.
The whopping three-hour Season 9 finale picked up right where things left off last week, with five people — Rachel, Taylor, Brayden, Tyler and Blake — having left the shores of Mexico solo. The morning after the rose ceremony is bleak in Paradise, even though at least one couple is supposed to get engaged at the end of this episode.
Mercedes and Jess are unsure what’s left for them after their relationships ended ahead of the rose ceremony the night before. They want to stay and keep hope alive, but with Paradise coming to an end, their prospects are not looking good. Mercedes gave her rose to Jordan, and Jess saw something in Tanner…but can they really start anything solid in the last week of production?...

The beach closed and summer came to an end during “Bachelor in Paradise’s” three-hour finale. Eight men and 10 women were left at the top of the episode, and the final pairs were presented with three options on how to wrap their journey — get engaged, leave the beach together or break up.
Before couples were established during a rose ceremony — but without a cocktail party, which was canceled by the bartender and guest host Wells Adams — Abigail Heringer and Noah Erb were the first casualties on the beach. The two called it quits during the tail-end of the prom date, despite being considered one of the strongest pairs.

This week’s episode of “Bachelor in Paradise” saw Kendall Long struggle to watch her ex-boyfriend Joe Amabile fall in love with Serena Pitt. She confided in bartender Wells Adams and ultimately decided that she needed to talk to Joe. But that wasn’t all the drama brewing, as a tropical storm caused a temporary production shutdown.
First, Kendall confessed to Joe that being back on the beach — and in the environment with so many memories — was difficult. They had a tearful conversation about their relationship that finished with Joe admitting he came back to “Paradise” confident they had no future. He comforted her with a hug, but Kendall ultimately decided to leave.
After her exit, Joe shared his feelings with Serena — both his excitement about their relationship and his own struggle over seeing Kendall upset.

Brendan Morais and Pieper James made enemies last week as they rekindled their relationship on national TV. The two were accused of orchestrating a grand plan to generate followers on the beach, but left Natasha Parker as a casualty. Natasha was seeing Brendan before Pieper’s arrival, and he quickly ditched her to reunite with Pieper.
Chris Conran and Alana Milne were accused of something similar, and the cast bullied them off the beach during last week’s episode. With Chris and Alana’s exit, the group redirected their attention to addressing Brendan and Pieper. Demi Burnett called out the double standard of allowing them to stay, noting the cast let it slide since they were all friends with Brendan.
Despite that, Joe Amabile led the charge and confronted the couple with a few of the women.

Kendall arrived and made a beeline to her ex-boyfriend, Joe Amabile. The two dated on Season 5 of “Bachelor in Paradise” for two years before calling it quits in early 2020. Joe — who had been spending time with Serena Pitt — was rattled by Kendall’s arrival but the two had a cordial conversation.

An eventful cocktail party dominated Tuesday’s “Bachelor in Paradise.”
The episode resumed with conflict between enemies Aaron Clancy and Thomas Jacobs over their love triangle with Tammy Ly. Tammy tried and failed to de-escalate Aaron, who was emotional and felt “betrayed” by her actions. Her cries were met with hostility, and the two ended their relationship before the rose ceremony.
Another love triangle was in the midst of exploding, as Karl Smith and Chasen Nick fought over Deandra Kanu. Karl had given Deandra a bracelet as a gift to show his affection, and Nick opted to give her a necklace to one-up the gesture. Deandra returned the bracelet to Karl, noting that she didn’t want to lead him on.
Nick’s gift rubbed Karl the wrong way, who accused him of trying to compete.

For those who have been watching “Bachelor in Paradise” this season, things look different down in Mexico.
For the first time ever, the summer series is not being led by Chris Harrison. Following the longtime host’s controversial departure earlier this year, the gig is being filled by a rotating slew of celebrities: former boy bander Lance Bass, rapper Lil Jon, actor Tituss Burgess, Bachelor Nation alum Wells Adams and comedian David Spade, who kicked off the season earlier this month and ended his quick turn as host on last night’s episode.
Spade, a longtime super-fan of “The Bachelor” who is known for his social media commentary and spoofs of the franchise, tells Variety he was approached by “Bachelor” creator Mike Fleiss about the role — and Spade says he’d be open to more.
“I would swish it around,” Spade quips when asked if he’d return to the franchise for another hosting opportunity.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched the Aug. 23 episode of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
Week two of “Bachelor in Paradise” began with the beloved cast title cards and introductions. Viewers then picked up from last week’s unexpected entrance where former cast member Demi Burnett returned to the beach.
The self-described “troublemaker” arrived with a date card and identified Brendan Morais as a potential suitor after meeting with Kenny and Connor. Brendan — who had recently been linked to Natasha Parker — accepted the invitation and headed to the date with Demi.
Natasha was disappointed by Brendan’s acceptance, as they expressed interest in each other during the first day. In addition to Natasha and Brendan, several other couples started to emerge: Tammy Ly and Aaron Clancy, Tahzjuan Hawkins and Tre Cooper, Maurissa Gunn and Connor, Mari Pepin-Solis and Kenny, Noah Erb and Abigail Herringer, Ivan Hall and Jessenia Cruz,...

In just one week, “Bachelor in Paradise” is back — and promises to be “bigger, bolder and sexier” than ever before.
Following “The Bachelorette” finale on Monday night, viewers got a deeper look at the show’s new season, including its rotating roster of hosts. Lil Jon’s voiceover starts off the extended sneak peek, ending with his signature “Yeah!” We also get a look at David Spade, the first of the hosts, who says: “The guys are good looking, the girls are good looking, and I’m the host.”
The sneak peek also teased a few of the connections between the cast members — including Joe and Serena P., Abigail and Noah and Kenny and Demi. But Demi isn’t the only ghost of “Bachelor’s” past featured in the teaser — Becca Kufrin, Kendall Long and Thomas Jacobs also make appearances. And of course, it wouldn’t be paradise without the...

After dealing with more off-screen drama than occurs even down in Mexico, the tides of Bachelor Nation have calmed down and “Bachelor in Paradise” will be back with a brand new season this summer.
Returning for the first time in two years, following the industry-wide Covid-shutdown that halted production last year on “Bachelor in Paradise,” ABC’s guilty pleasure summer series will launch its seventh season on Aug. 16, bringing back a slew of fan-favorite alums who will continue their journey for love.
The new cast is comprised of 19 singles from past “Bachelor” and “Bachelorette” seasons — who will then be joined by more contestants showing up as surprise additions throughout Season 7 — at a romantic resort in Mexico.
The cast includes Abigail Heringer from Matt James’ season, who is the first-ever deaf contestant to be cast on “The Bachelor” franchise; Brendan Morais, a finalist who quit on Tayshia Adams’ season; Ivan Hall,...

Last week’s episode brought Bennett Jordan back into the pool of Tayshia Adams’ contestants. This week, another man returned: host Chris Harrison.
After leaving the property to help move his son to college, Chris returned to offer Tayshia some advice going into the week. They discussed the process of narrowing her remaining seven (eight with the returned Bennett) down to four leading into hometowns. “The honeymoon phase, if you will, is kind of over at this point,” Tayshia told him. “I started to really put my future into perspective.”
Blake Moynes’ relationship was the first to be considered, as the two-headed to their first one-on-one date. Blake — who had originally fallen hard for the season’s first Bachelorette, Clare Crawley — had asked Tayshia for patience as he navigated those feelings. Since then,...

Tayshia Adams has been ushered in as ABC’s new Bachelorette. After replacing Clare Crawley during last week’s episode, Tayshia started her journey as the new Season 16 lead.
During a season of unconventional paths, her first night started traditionally as she took the time to meet each of the men. She started making quick connections before host Chris Harrison pulled her aside to introduce her to new contestants. Four more men joined the group with their own limo entrances: Spencer Robertson, Montel Hill, Peter Giannikopoulos and Noah Erb.
While Spencer’s first impression with the other men was less than impressive, he immediately charmed the Bachelorette and she rewarded him with the first impression rose. It gave him immunity for the impending rose ceremony, but she canceled that in order to give...

Red flags or red roses? The beginning of Tuesday night’s episode of “The Bachelorette” brought its fair share of both, as contestant Yosef Aborady kicked off the night by verbally attacking Bachelorette Clare Crawley before the rose ceremony.
He started the conversation as a collected critique of her behavior during last week’s group date but quickly shifted to an annihilation of her “classless” immaturity for hosting a strip dodgeball tournament. He denounced her actions and deemed her unfit to parent his own daughter. “I’m ashamed to be associated with you,” he said.
He continued to hammer what he considered as “red flags” — regularly returning to the idea that she was unfit to be a mother — before Clare interrupted and sent him home. Visibly shaken, she walked away to the tune of him yelling after her.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched the October 13 season premiere of “The Bachelorette.”
For once, maybe Season 16 of “The Bachelorette” could be the most dramatic ever.
The tagline was familiar, but this season’s conditions were anything but for viewers during Tuesday night’s premiere. Host Chris Harrison said it best: “How are we going to make a romantic dating show during times like these?”
It started with a production delay. After Clare Crawley was announced as the lead back in March, production — and the world — was shut down amid the global coronavirus pandemic. Since then, production recast, found a new location and established a safety isolation bubble within La Quinta Resort and Club in Palm Springs, Calif. After a four-month hiatus, Clare and her 31 men were finally welcomed back for a chance to find love. While the environment and conditions had shifted, the core...
