“Firefly Lane” Season 2 Part 1 left viewers hanging in more ways than one, but Part 2 reconciles those loose ends.
In addition to Kate (Sarah Chalke) and Tully (Katherine Heigl) just barely missing each other on opposite elevators as Kate tries to deliver some devastating news to her estranged best friend, a short clip of a suggestive wedding scene between Johnny and Tully played after the credits of the Netflix series’ final episode.
Throughout Part 2 of Season 2, the scene’s puzzle pieces slowly come together, but at first it looks like Tully, dressed in white, might be getting ready to marry Johnny after Kate has died. As it turns out, it was Marah’s wedding, and Tully ended up with Danny.

Firefly Lane is a series created by Maggie Friedman starring Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke.
Well, all good things must come to an end, so, unfortunately, here we have the last episodes of the second season of this sentimental series, which mixes friendship, life and… what is left when it is over.
Firefly Lane (2022)
Perhaps too much telefilm, perhaps too sentimental, but, undoubtedly, Firefly Lane has managed to win a place among the sappiest and straight-to-the-heart film lovers.
As a critic once said, despite everything, we will miss them.
Do you know that even a broken clock strikes twice a day? This gentleman was absolutely right.
We will miss them.
Enjoy the ending.
Tears are guaranteed.

It's been an emotional journey for Kate (Sarah Chalke) and Tully (Katherine Heigl), but will their friendship withstand more hurdles?
Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for the back half of Firefly Lane Season 2, which will bring the dramedy to an end for good.
The series has followed Kate and Tully's relationship over 30 years, and just like real-life, it hasn't been easy sailing for either of them.
The first half of the second season found the pair ending their years-long friendship, but fans were left with plenty of cliffhangers.
One of those cliffhangers involved Kate's ex-husband, Johnny Ryan (Ben Lawson), seemingly getting married to Tully.
"That's the thing about big life changes; you don't get to choose when they happen," Johnny Ryan shared in the new trailer. "You just have to hold on tight to the people you love and make your way through it."

Can a true friendship survive the test of time? The season two, part two, Firefly Lane trailer shows Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke trying to find that answer in the series’ final episodes.
The Maggie Friedman-created Netflix drama, based on the bestselling novel by Kristin Hannah, follows a more than 30-year friendship between two women — Tully Hart (Heigl), a nationally syndicated talk show host, and Kate Mularkey, a housewife — through love, sacrifice, jealousy, pain and happiness. The series goes through the trials they have faced through different stages of life, with the trailer for the final part showing a new jump in time.
Season two, part one, saw Tully and Kate ending their longtime friendship. The finale then shocked audiences after being left on several cliffhangers, including Kate’s cancer diagnosis, Tully moving and a huge flash-forward showing Kate’s ex-husband, Johnny Ryan (Ben Lawson), dressed up on his wedding day,...

When “Firefly Lane” co-executive producer and author of the novel Kristin Hannah met with the TV adaptation’s creator Maggie Friedman, she gave her two pointers on the core of the story, which chronicles the ever-evolving friendship between quirky, methodical Kate Mularkey (Sarah Chalke) and bold, ambitious Tallulah ‘Tully’ Hart.
“The single most important thing was that this was a story that highlighted almost a female soulmate, your very best friend who is your best friend from the time you’re 13, for all of your life,” the author said in a recent interview with TheWrap. “We don’t sort of see enough of that representation on TV. I do think that the series has done an amazing job of creating these two women who, as different as they are, you absolutely believe that they love each other, and when the chips are down, they’re going to be there for each other.

“Firefly Lane” Season 2 Part 1 marks the beginning of the end of the Netflix series’ adaptation of Kristin Hannah’s best-selling 2008 novel, closing on quite the cliffhanger before we see how the story ends in Part 2 sometime in 2023. And for creator Maggie Friedman, this was the ideal way to close out this adaptation.
“Part of it was that we were able then to make it all at once and write it all at once, rather than have that lag in between seasons, which can be quite a long time,” she told TheWrap of the decision to split Season 2 into two halves. “I knew where I wanted the story to end and what I felt was like [was] a satisfying conclusion to the series. It just felt natural rather than make a Season 2 and then wait however long, to just kind of do it all at once. And so I think this way,...

Opposites often attract in the best of friendships, and that’s true of the sweeping tale of Tully Hart (Katherine Heigl) and Kate Mularkey (Sarah Chalke) in the Netflix series “Firefly Lane,” adapted from the bestselling novel by Kristin Hannah. Not only do Kate and Tully compliment each other personality-wise, but the way they choose to live their lives down the road also complete the two supposed “halves” of adult womanhood.
Like in Hannah’s novel, Season 2 Part 1 of the Netflix show continues to expand the three separate timelines of the core female friendship that it sews together. Two younger actresses portray the teen versions of Tully (Ali Skovbye) and Kate (Roan Curtis) when they first meet in the seventies, but their bond stretches far into the future, all the way to the new millennium 2000.

“Firefly Lane” is a tricky little dramedy. It’s cozy. It’s melodramatic. There are elements that sound ridiculous, but the overall air is sweet. It’s a show based on a popular book about friendship persevering through the decades. It also aspired to be a show about journalism, women’s issues, and maybe even war.
But at the core is the relationship between lifelong friends Kate Mularkey (Sarah Chalke) and Tully Hart (Katherine Heigl) as they navigate life, work, and love. Season 1 culminated with Kate’s ex-husband Johnny (Ben Lawson) being blown up in the Middle East while reporting a story and Kate and Tully falling out for unknown reasons. Season 2 doesn’t just have to provide the same level of overwrought hijinks as last year, it also has to wrap everything up. The nine episodes released December 2 comprise the first half of the show’s final season, with...

Netflix’s new trailer for Firefly Lane season two part one shows there’s tension between Tully and Kate, but it sort of balances that out by revealing more about their lifelong friendship. Part one of the final season premieres on December 2, 2022, with season two part two arriving in 2023.
Season one of the drama, based on the bestselling novel by Kristin Hannah, debuted in February 2021 and starred Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke as lifelong best friends who stuck by each other’s side through thick and thin. Heigl and Chalke are back as Tully and Kate, respectively, for the second season. They’re joined by returning cast members Ben Lawson as Johnny Ryan, Ali Skovbye as young Tully, Roan Curtis as young Kate, Yael Yurman as Marah, and Beau Garrett as Cloud.

Sarah Chalke insists she doesn’t know if “Firefly Lane” is getting a second season.
“From your mouth,” she says when I ask her about the future of the Netflix series on the latest episode of the “Just for Variety” podcast. “I’m so hopeful.”
The series follows the lives of childhood best friends Tully Hart (Katherine Heigl) and Kate Mularkey. Tully is a well-known talk show host while Kate decides to go back to work while going through a divorce from Johnny Ryan, who happens to be Tully’s television producer. In the season finale, Kate refuses to talk to Tully for reasons never revealed to viewers. “You so rarely see this incredible bond between two women in television,” Chalke says. “I love their authentic, flawed relationship that it’s not this glossy, everything is perfect,” Chalke says. “You see them really go at it and overcome huge things,...

Firefly Lane topped Nielsen’s U.S. streaming rankings for the week of February 1 to 7, with WandaVision recording its best week yet in terms of total viewing.
With 1.3 billion total minutes of viewing for its 10 episodes, Firefly Lane was the only title north of the 1 billion mark for the week. Based on the novel by Kristin Hannah, the drama stars Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke. It is created and executive produced by Maggie Friedman, who is known for shows like Witches of East End.
WandaVision, on Disney+, notched a series high with 589 million of viewing across five half-hour episodes. It was the lone non-Netflix entrant in the top 10. Because of the Disney release pattern, episodes have rolled out weekly after the first two appeared at the same time on January 15. As with The Mandalorian, the release strategy has allowed the Marvel show to gradually build audience and buzz. While it ranked No.

Love, loss and lifelong friendship is at the heart of Netflix’s latest binge worthy drama. Based on Kristin Hannah’s novel of the same name, Firefly Lane follows the decades-long friendship of Tully (Katherine Heigl) and Kate (Sarah Chalke) who meet as teen neighbors living on the titular street and are bonded by a chance encounter after a traumatic event. Over ten episodes the show follows the friends at different stages of their lives – as teenage girls, as young women embarking on careers and family and as forty-somethings juggling different sets of life events
The show doesn’t cover the entirety of the book and also makes some major diversions from the plot, adding in and taking out various characters. There’s also a sequel to the novel called Fly Away, so there’s heaps of material should Netflix decide to renew for a second series, and that’s...

“Firefly Lane” is a series that, despite being set over several decades, reminds us of how things have painfully stayed the same. “It’s really interesting to watch the evolution,” series creator Maggie Friedman told IndieWire. “We’ve made so much progress, but we’re still fighting some of the same battles.” Those same battles include sexual harassment and rape culture that the characters Kate and Tully navigate from their teenage years in the 1970s through to 2003.
It’s easy to see why Chalke and Heigl were the perfect actresses to play the grown-up versions of author Kristin Hannah’s characters since both actresses have been working in Hollywood since they were teenagers. “Sarah, she’s so endearing, and so lovable, and so funny,” Friedman said. “And Katie brings such a humanity to Tully — [and] that character, if not played right, you don’t love her because she does a lot of stuff that’s questionable.

“Firefly Lane” definitely feels like a series set in 2003. By that, I mean if someone told me this show was filmed that year and had been languishing in a vault for the last 18 years, I’d believe it. The series, an adaptation of Kristin Hannah’s novel of the same name, feels akin to series like “Brothers and Sisters” or “Parenthood” in its high-stakes melodrama and tackling of real issues. But with the former ramped up to 11, the latter — looking at sexism and workplace harassment — is overshadowed at best and incredibly maudlin at worst. At least the casting is compelling enough to keep things afloat.
The series takes place over several points in time, differentiated only by the characters’ wig changes. Tallulah “Tully” Hart (Katherine Heigl) and Kate Mularkey (Sarah Chalke) have been best friends since they were teens, when Tully and her hippie mom Cloud (Beau Garrett) moved in across the street on,...

On the surface, the story and theoretical appeal of Netflix’s new drama Firefly Lane seem clear. It is a decades-spanning tale of female friendship, meant to inspire laughter and lunges for the tissue box in equal measure, as it follow two women who both envy and complete each other. And it puts together a pair of seasoned TV stars: Katherine Heigl as Tully, the glamorous and confident one, and Sarah Chalke as the more modest and meek Kate. Adapted by Maggie Friedman (Witches of East End) from the bestselling novel by Kristin Hannah,...

Sarah Chalke (Friends From College) is set as the co-lead opposite Katherine Heigl in Netflix’s upcoming drama series Firefly Lane, based on the bestselling novel by Kristin Hannah.
Written and executive produced by Maggie Friedman, who also serves as showrunner, Firefly Lane is the sweeping story of two inseparable best friends and their enduring, complicated bond, spanning four tumultuous decades.
Awkward and shy, Kate Mularkey (Chalke) has always been in the shadow of her best friend, legendary talk show host and journalist Tully Hart (Heigl). With an endearingly self-deprecating wit, Kate is often underestimated, but she’s fiercely intelligent and fiercely loyal. She has the biggest heart, and a hidden wild streak. Firefly Lane follows the story of Kate and Tully’s enduring friendship from their teen years through their forties — as they weather career ups and downs, love triangles, marriage and divorce, and countless dramas along with way.
