A new drama series based on “The Witcher,” the popular fantasy saga from Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski, is in the works at Netflix. On Wednesday, the streaming giant announced that it’s developing and producing an English-language show based on the bestselling series of short stories and novels, which have been adapted into a major video game franchise, the 2001 film “The Hexer,” and a graphic novel series, and have been translated into over 20 languages.

Exclusive: MGM, Paramount and Timur Bekmambetov set a February 26, 2016, release date on an epic remake of Ben-Hur; have they found their chariot driver in Tom Hiddleston? I hear that he’s the one the studios are courting to play Judah Ben-Hur in the adaptation of the 1880 Lew Wallace novel Ben-Hur: A Tale Of The Christ, which was the biggest-selling novel of its time until it was eclipsed by Gone With The Wind.

Sunday at Tadff is always a tough day. Generally speaking, from a reporting perspective, it means that you’ve been out until all hours of the morning for the last three nights, probably imbibed a bit more than necessary, lost a lot of sleep, and then spent all of your free time writing reviews, editing interviews, etc. As such, it is almost always the one day that I get to the theater either late, or right before the first movie of the afternoon.
This year, that first movie was the World Premiere of Silent Retreat, a story about a teenager who gets sent to a rehabilitation camp in the woods where escape attempts lead to encounters with something that lurks beyond the trees. Due to some trouble finding seating in the packed auditorium, I missed the theatrical showing, but I am hoping to be able to get a chance to...
