Sharath is a Chennai-born and -based filmmaker. He pursued an under graduation degree in Architecture. With professional training in design principles, his quest for knowledge had just begun. Animation drew his attention. This led him to the halls of UTS, Sydney where he did his post graduation in Animation and Filmmaking. During these crucial 2 years is when he realised what he wanted to do for life. His ultimate goal was to tell stories. He wanted to be a Storyteller.
In 2010 he participated in the reality TV show Nalaya Iyakkunar (Future Director) Season 2. During the course of the show, he made 10 widely appreciated short films. Renowned directors K. Balachander and Pratap Pothan lauded his making, and awarded him with the 'Best short film of the week' tag multiple times. After the show, Sharath went on to make 2 more award-winning short films. One of them, 'The Messiah' won international accolades. It was selected for the coveted Court de Mertage at Festival de Cannes 2012 and won awards at the Norway International Film Festival.
The next step in his quest was the office of the most sought after director of Indian cinema, Director Shankar. Sharath assisted director Shankar in 2 films: I and 2.0. The magnanimity of these projects gave him an unparalleled experience. Sharath not only worked closely with the director during the screen writing process but also acted as the Script supervisor on the shooting sets of 2.0. His Animation knowledge was put into use and he was responsible for coordinating Production Design and Visual Effects from both national and international studios in the biggest sci-fi movie of Indian cinema.
His grand visions have always attracted grandeur things to his life. Growing up watching spectacles on the big screen, he is deeply influenced by the works of Shankar, Stanley Kubrick, Christopher Nolan and Anurag Kashyap. He is an avid reader, who enjoys everything from fiction and biographies to science and politics. Through all this, Sharath lives by one thing. A saying by Walt Disney, "If you can dream it, you can do it."
