The Drake-Kendrick Lamar showdown will continue — at the 2024 BET Awards.
The rappers will compete in two categories at the June 30 show: best male hip-hop artist and best collaboration. In the latter category, Drake is nominated for “Rich Baby Daddy” with Sza and Sexyy Red, while Lamar is nominated for his guest verse on the remix of Beyoncé’s “America Has a Problem.”
Drake is the show’s top contender with seven nominations, thanks to his album For All the Dogs (Scary Hours Edition). Lamar didn’t release an album that was eligible this year. The Canadian rapper’s other nominations include album of the year, best male R&b/pop artist and viewer’s choice for “Rich Baby Daddy.” He’s nominated twice in the video of the year category: “Rich Baby Daddy” and his guest verse on J. Cole’s “First Person Shooter,” the late 2023 track that reignited his feud with Lamar.

Tee Grizzley and Future have teamed up to drop new track “Swear To God” on Friday.
The hard-hitting single opens with the lyrics: “Fuck your album, shit ain’t slapping like my mixtape.” When the rapper tweeted a coded announcement of the track on Thursday, he did so by tweeting the vicious opening line on X, which many speculated as a covert shot at Gunna, whose album One of Wun had already been announced as releasing today as well. Two of Gunna’s subsequent posts were assumed to be responses.

Coachella 2024 was the year of the A-list guests. Across all three days, top stars made appearances either onstage or in the crowd to support their musician besties. Olivia Rodrigo joined No Doubt, Will Smith pulled up for J Balvin, Justin Bieber sang with Tems, Billie Eilish threw a last-minute party at the DoLab stage, and Shakira even announced a world tour during Bizarrap’s set.
The talk among some festivalgoers ahead of Coachella suggested that this year’s lineup might underwhelm, but the number of stars joining their friends onstage surely helped with that.

Tems has already started working her way through the opening verse of “Essence” when Wizkid hit the stage, putting a grin on the singer’s face. The pair traded lyrics back and forth before Bieber emerged from the side-stage shadows to rumbling applause.

The 2023 Billboard Music Awards didn’t air on TV this year and the event was streamed online through videos uploaded to the Billboard website.
Pre-taped performances and acceptance speeches, which were filmed all around the world while artists are on tour, made up the awards show this year.
Morgan Wallen was the big winner of the night with 11 wins while Taylor Swift followed closely behind with 10 wins, including the Top Artist prize.
Taylor and Drake are now tied for the most wins ever at the Billboard Music Awards.
“Well this is unreal,” Taylor told fans in her speech. “The fact that you guys have given me 10 Billboard Awards — I’m talking to the fans specifically. None of this happens without you. The Billboards base everything off of what you are listening to and what you’re passionate about, and I’m so honored that this year you made The Eras Tour so magical.

The 2023 Billboard Music Awards went out on Sunday, November 19, with winners announced on the Billboard and BBMAs social channels and on BBMAs.watch. So who won? Scroll down for the complete list in all 69 categories.
These awards are based on fan interactions with music, but they’re not decided by an online vote. Instead, Billboard decides its finalists and winners using the metrics that determine the Billboard charts, including record sales, radio airplay and online streaming performance. Previously held during the spring, these awards have also moved to the fall to line up with the tracking period for Billboard’s year-end charts: November 19, 2022 through October 21, 2023.
Taylor Swift led the nominations with 20 citations including Top Artist. She had multiple albums at the top of the charts, and her “Eras Tour” gave all her past music a major commercial bump as well. But was she able to overcome Morgan Wallen, a 17-time finalist this year across 16 categories?...

Nigeria’s Tems has returned with the new single “Me & U,” her first new material in two years.
Tems started gaining more traction in the US in partial thanks to “Wait for U,” the 2022 single from Future that featured her along with Drake. But “Me & U” proves Tems can hold it down on her own, existing somewhere between a traditional pop ballad and a clubby Afrobeats banger.
On the surface, “Me & U” feels like a pretty clear-cut love song, as Tems sings of companionship and full surrender: “I don’t need nothing/ You are my everything,” she coos over a gently-strummed electric guitar. But it’s not exactly a love song in the traditional sense, instead focusing on the connection between the self and the divine.
“‘Me & U’ is about discovering the real me, building a genuine relationship with the Creator, and gaining a true perception of self,” Tems says in a press release.

This year has turned out to be an impressive one in the music industry as artists from all genres continue to come out with new albums. Miley Cyrus's "Endless Summer Vacation," Chlöe's "In Pieces," Sam Smith's "Gloria," and Ice Spice's debut album, "Like . . ?" are just a few of the releases we've been playing on repeat since they dropped earlier this year. Well into the second half of the year now, several additional artists - including Olivia Rodrigo and Doja Cat - have teased new albums set to drop in the remaining months.
So far, artists like Kesha, Bebe Rexha, the Jonas Brothers, and Keke Palmer have all come through with enough new music to keep our AirPods buzzing for months. Between tracking release dates, collaborations, track lists, and tour dates, keeping up with all the new albums of 2023 is basically a full-time job. With more album releases still to come,...
