Audible is laying off 5 percent of its staff with the goal of setting the company up for “continued success” amid an “ increasingly challenging landscape,” according to a memo sent to employees Thursday.
In the memo from Audible CEO Bob Carrigan, which was shared with The Hollywood Reporter by an Audible spokesperson, Carrigan says that while the business had a strong 2023 and is in “good shape,” the company plans to get “leaner and more efficient” going forward.
The Amazon-owned company said it will be “supporting our departing colleagues as they look for their next opportunity.”
The layoffs also follow Amazon’s announcement Wednesday of cutting hundreds of jobs in its Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios division.
The full memo from Carrigan:
All,
Today I have some difficult news to share with you. As we begin a new year, we’ve made the tough decision to reduce roles within our organization.
