The Unexpecteds is one of those films you wish they would remake instead of a classic. That’s not to put the film down. Far from it. You see the potential in writer and director Alejandro Montoya Marin’s first feature-length film. The story is timely and engaging, and the script has some well-timed jokes. However, this comedy caper never quite reaches its potential.
The reason is glaring and obvious—the cast’s flat and wooden performances. And that’s a shame because this “Dumb Money Light” could have been something embraced. If only the cast could have found the heart of the matter, at least enough for the audience to embrace the characters from The Unexpecteds and care.

Xochitl Gomez, best known for playing Marvel heroine America Chavez in the studio’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, is shooting Hive, a horror short from rising Colombian-American filmmaker Felipe Vargas.
Written and directed by Vargas, Hive stars Gomez as a teenage babysitter who loses the young girl she’s taking care of at an idyllic playground and is forced to confront an insidious entity hidden among the children. Gomez stars alongside Lorelei Olivia Mote, a tyke who has appeared in American Horror Story and Daisy Jones & the Six.
The story is being told in real time and and set in the bright daylight of the outdoors, something the filmmakers think differentiates their project from most horror projects.
“Working with Felipe on Hive brought me back to the pure fun of filmmaking,” Gomez tells The Hollywood Reporter. “He’s precise and playful, being aware of every detail...

Royal ladies wear some of the most beautiful jewels in the world. We’ve seen them in sparkling tiaras, dazzling necklaces, and of course, stunning diamond engagement rings.
The Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton) is rarely seen without her iconic engagement ring, which once belonged to Princess Diana. But another royal is rarely photographed with her ring on.
Here’s who that is and why she barely wears it in public.

Who doesn’t love an underdog story in sports, especially if it’s based on true historical accounts? In the 1950s, five young Mexican-American boys made history with golf clubs in their hands. Julio Quintana’s docudrama The Long Game talks about the racial discrimination Mexican-Americans faced in the last century and how a group of caddies earned the respect their community deserved.
Spoilers Ahead
What happens in the film?
Joe, Gene, Mario, Felipe, and Lupe are all caddies who work at a prestigious golf club run by Americans. Belonging to poor families, they do all sorts of odd jobs for the rich old men and their kids, who are the members of the club. On the other hand, there’s Jb Pena, a former soldier who served in World War II and returned to society without any accolades thanks to his ethnicity. Jb resumed his life as a superintendent in the San Felipe School.

Over the years, the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton) has attended plenty of royal ceremonies. And several of the affairs have been with royals from all over Europe. Now, a video of an exchange Prince William’s wife had with Queen Letizia of Spain during The Order of the Garter a few years ago is making the rounds on social media.
Which monarchs attended the 2019 Order of the Garter ceremony?
The event is the oldest British Order of Chivalry founded by Edward III in 1348. The Garter ceremonial dates from 1948 when the formal installation was revived by King George VI for the first time since 1805.

Bob the Builder is ready for his big screen debut.
The construction worker with a can-do attitude will be the subject of a new animated feature film from Mattel Films. Jennifer Lopez is producing “Bob the Builder,” while “In the Heights” star Anthony Ramos will voice the title character.
A twist on the long-running children’s series, “Bob the Builder” follows Roberto (aka Bob) who travels to Puerto Rico for a major construction job. According to the official logline, audiences will see Bob as he “takes on issues affecting the island and digs deeper into what it means to build. Bob’s journey will celebrate the vibrant and colorful textures of the Caribbean Latin nations and their people.” Felipe Vargas (the upcoming “Rosario”) is attached to write the screenplay; a director has not been announced.

Holy Family is one of those female-led drama thrillers where the cast takes on the mantle of saving themselves and their families from trouble. It features five women who are essentially parents, and there is a young teenage girl named Mariana. She was essentially a caregiver too, because throughout the two seasons, she was a young girl who had to grow up too fast.

Who Was Mariana?
Mariana, aka Aitana, was the young, teenage daughter of Gloria Santos. There was no information about her father in the show, but she and her two siblings have been single-handedly raised by Gloria, whose real name is Julia. The show begins with Mariana being introduced as Aitana, a nanny hired by Gloria to help with Hugo. This year’s crop of films, either in post-production or completed, make scant reference to the region’s brutal historical past, perhaps with the exception of “Pepe” by Nelson Carlo de los Santos Arias, which begins with the capture of drug lord Pablo Escobar who sowed terror and chaos for years in Colombia, or José María Cabral’s “Tiguere,” set in a ‘90s Dominican Republic.

As FX’s Mayans M.C. wraps its final season tonight, Deadline has your exclusive look at the penultimate day of filming in Santa Clarita, California.
As the sets were being broken down to make way for a new production in the future, series co-creator Elgin James celebrated Crew Appreciation Day alongside stars J.D. Pardo, Clayton Cardenas, Carla Baratta, Emilio Rivera, Sarah Bolger, J.R. Bourne, Edward James Olmos, Gino Vento, Emily Tosta, Andrew Jacobs and Alex Barone. Maverick James who played Maverick Reyes, son of Adelita (Baratta) and Angel (Cardenas), was also part of the celebration as was Baratta’s son Diego who was inside her belly during the show’s second season and was worked into the storyline.
For the festivities, the grounds were colorfully decorated and food trucks were serving the hungry and excited masses. Pardo and Rivera hosted a raffle giving away kuttes from both Sons of Anarchy and Mayans M.

Spoiler Alert: The following reveals major plot points from the series finale of FX’s Mayans M.C. titled “Slow to Bleed Fair Son.”
On tonight’s episode of Mayans M.C. titled “Slow to Bleed Fair Son,” the biker gang whose origins date back to Kurt Sutter’s Sons of Anarchy and later expanded into its own spinoff series takes its last ride—and it’s messy as hell.
Without El Padrino Marcus Alvarez (Emilio Rivera) at the helm of the club, it was only a matter of time before the whole thing exploded into chaos. After being ousted by former prospect turned president Ez Reyes (Jd Pardo) in Season 4, it took some time for Alvarez to figure out what his life would look like in a post-Mayans world. FX’s Mayans M.C. season five episode 10 – the series finale – is, hands down, the best episode of the entire series. Amid all the blood and deaths, questions are answered, and dues are stamped paid. Not every character deserves their fate, but every death is, in its own way, justified.
Sons of Anarchy was Hamlet with motorcycles. Mayans M.C. is also a Shakespearean tragedy, complete with betrayals, love, loyalty, and murder.
Season five episode 10, “Slow to Bleed Fair Son,” begins with confirmation that Felipe has died. His funeral is the opening scene, with Angel (Clayton Cardenas) holding Maverick and Ez (Jd Pardo) solemnly staring straight ahead as “Were You There When They Crucified My Lord” is sung.

This episode features:Felipe Gálvez (Chile), director and editor. Before premiering his first feature film The Settlers at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023, where he won the Fipresci pruze in the Un Certain Regard section, Gálvez directed a handful of short films, which screened at Rotterdam, the Buenos Aires International Festival of Independent Cinema, and Cannes Critics' Week. For the last fifteen years, he has been working as an editor and has collaborated on important Latin American films such as Kiro Russo's El gran movimiento, Marialy Rivas's Princesita, and Pablo Lamar's La última tierra. In this episode, Felipe discusses the problematic relationship between Western and historic representation, but also as a weapon to rewrite the past. In conversation with programmer and critic Pamela Biénzobas, Felipe talks about his ambitious debut feature and about rewriting as a radical act in the editing room and on the set.This...

Well, that's one way to set up the series finale.
On Mayans M.C. Season 5 Episode 9, E.Z. Reyes was served up a nice dose of food for thought as he tried to come to terms with the pressure of being the person leading a gang.
Obviously, someone familiar to fans would show up on the road to help him out of this pickle, but my jaw hit the floor when Sons of Anarchy's Drea de Matteo returned as Wendy Case.
After nine years, de Matteo slipped back into the role like a glove as Wendy helped E.Z. understand that the people in his life would never understand his machinations if he doesn't let them in.
If you watch Mayans M.C. online, you know E.Z. has been straddling the fine line between good and evil, something that's been eating away at Sofia because she's felt a lack of connection with her boyfriend.

FX Mayans M.C. season five episode nine – the series’ penultimate episode – serves up one of the most devastating deaths of its entire run…thus far. No one is safe as Ez continues to wage war with the Sons of Anarchy.
Episode nine, “I Must Go in Now For the Fog is Rising,” begins with Bottles (Alex Barone) and Guero (Andrew Jacobs) silent as they ride back to town in the back of a stranger’s pickup truck. Witnessing the destruction of Santo Padre’s cookhouse at the Broken Saints ranch weighs heavy on their minds as they head back to the clubhouse.
Sofia (Andrea Cortés) wakes and leaves Ez (Jd Pardo) in bed with Sally when suddenly Sally barks in alarm. Ez grabs his gun, responding to pounding on his door.

Mayans Mc got a visit from a key Sons of Anarchy character in its penultimate episode… but not even that nostalgia trip could soften the blow of the episode’s closing scene.
Let’s start with the heartbreak: This week’s major casualty appeared to be Ez and Angel’s father, Felipe, which is a massive shame. Near the end of Episode 9, Isaac and a couple of his Sons cronies broke into Felipe’s house, where Angel and his baby boy have been living as of late. In fact, Isaac and his men were there for Angel — but he wasn’t home.

Welp, we're getting to the end of Mayans M.C., and that can only mean one thing:
Death, death, and more death.
Mayans M.C. Season 5 Episode 9 is the FX hit's penultimate chapter, and the official promo hints at Ez's luck running out.

After the events of Mayans M.C. Season 5 Episode 8, we should prepare for E.Z.'s downfall.
The Broken Saints have been lured into E.Z.'s plans, but their home has been destroyed after Letty spilling all about their operation to Isaac.
If you watch Mayans M.C. online, you know the Broken Saints have long relied on doing things for themselves.

Still haven’t recovered from FX’s Mayans M.C. season five episode seven? Neither have I. But buckle up because episode eight – “Her Blacks Crackle and Drag” – doesn’t let up. The episode finds the Mayans saying goodbye to Creeper, Angel lost without Adelita, and Hope taking drastic measures to ensure Isaac can never hurt her or Letty again.
But, most importantly, the episode’s explosive ending might spell the end of Ez’s short reign over the prisons.
Episode eight opens with Downer (Angel Oquendo) and Guero (Andrew Jacobs) transporting the dead bodies of Diaz and Jinx. Guero’s justifiably worried after killing Oakland’s president in cold blood, which forced Bishop to take out the VP. But Downer assures him the club knows why he did it. It wasn’t a smart move,...

Set in 1956 and ’57, The Long Game abounds in spectacular vintage cars, pristine and gleaming and a signal of the tidy shape of the movie’s narrative. That’s not to say there are no ups and downs, no setbacks and reversals in the drama that unfolds, but director Julio Quintana (The Vessel) has tailored it to reassure, using gentle comic strokes and zingy visuals to explore a true story of sports underdogs and their triumph against bigotry. Jay Hernandez provides the grounded enthusiasm as a high school administrator with a passion for golf and a vision of better things for Mexican Americans like him and his students. Together, he and his coltish team, dubbed the Mustangs, take on the country-club set, with Dennis Quaid providing effortless old-timer charm as a key ally and Cheech Marin on hand as a wiseass Yoda.
