With wildly popular manga “One Piece” now a hit series for Netflix, fans have been sharing their ideas about dream casting for future seasons.
This has resulted in fans calling for the show to cast Jamie Lee Curtis as Dr. Kureha, a 141-year-old physician who lives on Drum Island. The character is also the mentor/adoptive mother of Tony Tony Chopper, the doctor of the Straw Hat Pirates, who is expected to be introduced in the series’ second season.
“I will lobby along with the growing fan frenzy to become Doctor Kureha.”
Curtis is aware of fans calling for her casting, and took to Instagram to reveal that she’s up for the role.

It's almost time to see your favorite action stars from across the decades team up to fight the bad guys again in "Expend4bles." The first two films -- 2010's "The Expendables" and 2012's "The Expendables 2" -- were action packed with some wild violence. Of course, they were rated R for some juicy and intense action scenes. However, the last film, 2014's "The Expendables 3," softened up the whole thing with a PG-13 rating, which left a lot of fans disappointed. The new film will be full R. Violence is back, baby! Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture return to their franchise roles, with Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Megan Fox, Tony Jaa, and Andy García joining the cast.

Jamie Lee Curtis has officially declared her intent to lobby Netflix for a role in the second season of live action Netflix adaptation of One Piece. And showrunner Matt Owens is all for it.
One Piece is a fantasy adventure series developed by Owens and Steven Maeda. The series is adapted from the manga by creator Eiichiro Oda, who serves as a major creative consultant.
The franchise follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, wherein he explores the Grand Line in search of the mythical treasure known as the “One Piece” in order to become the next King of the Pirates. Curtis would like to play Dr. Kureha, who will be prominent in the second season.

Jamie Lee Curtis desperately wants to play Dr. Kureha in Season 2 of Netflix’s live-action adaptation of the manga (and anime) “One Piece,” and it sounds like the team behind the show is just as desperate to have her onboard. After Curtis announced on Instagram that she intends to ask for the role once the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes have concluded, showrunner Matt Owens commented, “Mommy dearest, that’s why we sent you that figure! No need to lobby.”
Owens continued, “Once we get what we deserve and get back to work, let’s talk!”

Audiences don’t seem to intend to attend the latest “Expendables.” The fourth entry in the ensemble action franchise is notching a series-low opening day from 3,518 theaters with about $3 million, a figure that includes a meagre $750,000 in Thursday previews.
Produced by Millennium Media and released by Lionsgate, “Expend4bles” is projecting a debut that’ll fall well short of the $15 million to $17 million range that had been expected heading into the weekend, and also behind the $15.8 million sum that “The Expendables 3” put up nine years ago. The franchise has been sliding since its first entry landed a $34.8 million opening in 2010, followed by the 2012 sequel netting $28.5 million.
“Expend4bles” is in a close race for first place against the third weekend of “The Nun II.” If it does end up on top, it’ll be leading one of the lowest total box office weekends of 2023. Projections indicate that movie theaters could fall...

“Expend4bles” got off to a soft start on Thursday, earning $750,000 in preview showings. That compares to the $875,000 earned by “Expendables 3” in August of 2014, which led to a $16 million Fri-Sun debut. Nine years later, with poor reviews (14% on Rotten Tomatoes compared to the series high of 67% for “Expendables 2” in 2012) and little in the way of buzz or excitement, the latest Sylvester Stallone/Jason Statham actioner looks like — at least in America — another example of a franchise continuation that nobody asked for.
The new film again stars Stallone and Statham while also bringing Megan Fox, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Tony Jaa and Iko Uwais onboard. That doesn’t quite have the commercial allure of seeing Stallone, Statham and (depending on the installment) the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jet Li, Wesley Snipes, Harrison Ford and Antonio Banderas saving the world together.
Barring excessive frontloading or unexpected casual weekend business, “Expend4bles” should...

The “Expendables” crew is undertaking their fourth box office mission, as the aptly named “Expend4bles” opens this weekend. The R-rated movie, starring Jason Statham, Sylvester Stallone and more kickass action heroes, made $750,000 in Thursday previews at the box office.
The Lionsgate film is expected to open with around $15 million, which would mark the lowest launch of any of the franchise’s entries. Some projections put it at $17 million, beating 2014’s “Expendables 3” ($15.8 million opening). The original “Expendables” is still king, with a $34.8 million opening in 2010, followed by 2012’s “Expendables 2” with $28.5 million. To compare Thursday preview grosses, “Expendables 3” made $875,000 back in 2014.
The new “Expend4bles” brings back Stallone, Statham, Randy Couture and Dolph Lundgren, while introducing Megan Fox, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and more into the mayhem. Directed by Scott Waugh, the movie throws the group of grizzled, gun-toting mercenaries into a mission filled with Russian operatives and nuclear warheads.

The first thing you need to know about “Expendables 4” is that its studio somehow made the grating decision to fashion its title as “Expend4ble.” It’s a needless spelling challenge for a dull and vulgar flick with a lot of empty-calories muscle, but little-to-no skill or fun to spare. The second thing you need to know is, that insertion of “4” is, unfortunately, just about the most clever thing the fourth installment of this star-studded action series has to offer.
There is always a lot of touchiness out there in defense of such movies, usually from those who guard one’s right to “shut one’s brain off and just enjoy.” But as the “John Wick” franchise and the entirety of the “Mission: Impossible” series continue to prove time and time again, there is indeed a stylish and cinematic way to pull off fun and thoroughly entertaining action fare...

“Expend4bles,” the fourth action-thriller starring Jason Statham and Sylvester Stallone as elite mercenaries on a mission, is expected to top the box office in its debut.
It’s aiming for $15 million in its opening weekend, which would be the lowest of the franchise. There’s a chance, though, it could slightly exceed expectations with $17 million. The first “Expendables” opened in 2010 with $34.8 million, the 2012 sequel arrived to $28.5 million and 2014’s threequel landed with $15.8 million. Though the series has drastically declined in popularity at the domestic box office (the original ended up with $103 million in North America while the most recent tapped out with a paltry $39 million), these films have been much bigger draws with international audiences. All three installments have earned at least $200 million globally.
“Expend4bles” already debuted in China with $10.9 million, leading the top five over newcomer “A Haunting in Venice” and local-language titles. It has yet to premiere elsewhere at the international box office.
