Please leave it to Jennifer Lopez to interpret a theme without going overboard. As one of the evening’s most anticipated guests, the 54-year-old multihyphenate did not fail to serve with her breathtaking appearance at the 2024 Met Gala.
Having been named co-chair of the event this year and attending the renowned gala for the 14th time, J.Lo clearly understood the assignment. Adorned with millions of glimmering embellishments, her see-through Schiaparelli gown left the crowd in awe. But although she looked stunning, I was a little let down because I felt like I had seen this before.
Considering she was a co-chair of the event, her look felt somewhat underwhelming. Although it reflected her signature style, the familiarity of her choice in see-through dresses didn’t deliver the wow factor expected at such a gala. I hoped for something more innovative that would truly captivate us.

Jennifer Lopez, a co-chair of fashion’s biggest night, wore her most daring Met Gala ensemble yet at Monday’s gala, taking place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
Arriving on the earlier end, as is expected for a co-chair of the night, Lopez stepped onto the carpet in a Custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown designed by Daniel Roseberry.
The dress code for this year’s gala is “The Garden of Time.” The A-lister was mostly on theme with the look. The sheath dress, embroidered with warm silver pearls and rhinestones, features 2.5 million silver foil bugles. Lopez told Vogue on the red carpet that the look was meant to resemble butterfly wings.
To round out the look, the star wore a Tiffany & Co. necklace, earrings and bracelet, a ring in platinum and yellow gold with diamonds and a Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany Bird on a Rock ring.

Within 60 seconds of seeing Emily Blunt arrive on the Oscars 2024 red carpet, I thought: Those shoulder straps are going to be a problem.
Not for Blunt, of course, a best supporting actress nominee for Oppenheimer, who looked lovely in a nude beaded gown designed by Daniel Roseberry for the Spring Summer 2024 haute couture collection for Schiaparelli, the house founded by Elsa Schiaparelli in 1927 and which has been overseen by Roseberry as artistic director since 2019.
But it was only a matter of time before social media would erupt with cries of confusion and frustration over the detail. After all, when we live in a world in which an indicted former U.S. President criticizes the host of the 96th Academy Awards in real time, it’s likely open season on one woman’s gown, yes?

For anyone wondering about the impact of airing the 30th annual Screen Actors Guild exclusively on Netflix, only a cursory glance is needed at the The Hollywood Reporter/Launchmetrics Red Carpet Power Rankings resulting from the event. Earned exposure at the SAG Award for many luxury brands — and the stars who wore them — saw a significant drop from previous 2024 awards shows.
Netflix has not released specific viewership data for the SAG Awards, but the show is not included in the streaming giant’s Global Top 10 TV list for the week of Feb. 19 to Feb. 25; with The Tourist: Season 1 at the No. 10 position (garnering only 2.1 million views), it’s a sure bet viewership of the SAG Awards doesn’t approach that figure. By contrast, the 66th annual Grammy Awards attracted an average of 17.09 million viewers during the Feb. 4 broadcast (on both CBS and Paramount+) and represented a double-digit increase over the previous year.

An upswing in Grammy broadcast ratings and the power of stars in social media each played an integral role in the Red Carpet Power Rankings just released by Launchmetrics and The Hollywood Reporter, with Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo and Maluma among the music artists scoring big bucks in earned exposure for the high-end brands they wore at the Feb. 4 event at L.A.’s Crypto.com Arena.
Cyrus and Swift won two Grammys apiece — for record of the year and best pop solo performance, and for album of the year and best pop vocal album, respectively — while they also proved to be winners on the red carpet, earning millions in brand exposure for sporting looks that quickly caused a social media frenzy.

Seeing double? Taylor Swift’s outfit at the 2024 Grammys has royal watchers doing a doubletake. The “Anti-Hero” singer wore black and white to Music’s Biggest Night, not unlike Kate Middleton at a 2023 red carpet event. Ahead are details on the “Anti-Hero” singer’s so-called “homage” to the Princess of Wales. Plus, Swift’s previous “cringe” run-in with British royals.

On Feb. 4, 2024, Swift arrived at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, wearing a white custom-made gown by Daniel Roseberry for Schiaparelli and black accessories.
The 34-year-old’s jewelry received much attention online as the Grammy winner, who was up for six awards at the ceremony, wore more than 300 carats of diamonds from celebrity jewelry Lorraine Schwart.

Metallics ruled the red carpet at the 2024 Grammys, almost from the very first moment.
Dua Lipa — a double nominee for “Dance the Night” from Barbie The Album — turned up early on the 2024 Grammys red carpet because she was the broadcast’s opening act and immediately set the night’s style tone in a silver-fringed gown by creative director Nicolas di Felice for Courrèges, paired with impressive jewels by Tiffany & Co.
That focus on metals continued in elegant and artful ways. The Grammys have always been the odd duck, fashion-wise, of the awards season, and that’s meant only as a compliment. On music’s biggest night, attendees embrace the essence of artistry and creativity and that extends to their sartorial choices. While other awards shows largely exude elegance and occasionally a splash of grandeur, the Grammys are about exhibiting a musician’s mettle.

Among the final arrivals at the 2024 Grammys, Taylor Swift instantly sent social media into overdrive with her red-carpet look — before revving them up even further from the Grammy stage later in the evening.
Many on X (formerly Twitter) quickly picked up on a conversation between Swift and her longtime publicist, Tree Paine, on the star-studded Grammy red carpet.
“Do you need to set my watch?” Swift asked on the red carpet.
Paine replied, “Nope, it’s already perfect. Midnight.”

‘Euphoria’ Stars Zendaya and Hunter Schafer Stun at Schiaparelli’s Alien-Inspired Paris Couture Show
Schiaparelli opened the Spring Summer 2024 season’s haute couture collections in Paris with an extraterrestrial bang.
The brand’s designer, Daniel Roseberry, treated the audience to a show inspired by the scientific studies of Giovanni Schiaparelli, uncle of Elsa Schiaparelli, founder of the fashion house. Giovanni, in 1877 as director of the Brera Observatory in Milan, discovered a series of canals that mark the surface of Mars.
“Giovanni Schiaparelli also coined the term ‘Martian’ and inadvertently started our modern fascination with creatures from another planet, which continues to this day, thanks to his discoveries,” the creative director told The Hollywood Reporter behind the scenes.
In addition to fashion, Giovanni’s niece was notoriously involved in stargazing and astrology, an occupation that included the whole family. Roseberry therefore took inspiration from this ancestral tradition and created “Schiaparalien,” a collection inspired by the inhabitants of Mars.

For the first time, The Hollywood Reporter is offering a data-driven look at the luxury brands that ruled the carpet, thanks to an exclusive editorial partnership with U.S.-based Launchmetrics. Using its proprietary algorithm, the brand-performance agency measured the influence of dozens of brands worn by the stars Sunday evening, from online and social media posts to editorial stories, assigning a media-impact value (Miv) to the hottest red-carpet-focused labels in men’s and women’s fashion, accessories, watches and jewelry.

Neiman Marcus welcomed Schiaparelli’s creative director, Daniel Roseberry, to Los Angeles with Demi Moore and her daughter, Scout Willis, among the well-wishers.
Both wearing Schiaparelli, Moore and Scout looked beautiful for the welcome party.
Moore wore a white suit with black swirls and Scout donned an all-black outfit with gold buttons.
Scout, 32, is the second daughter of Moore and action star Bruce Willis. In addition to Scout, they also share Rumer, 35, and Tallulah, 29.
Though Moore and Willis are no longer together and have moved on with different people, they have remained close, as Moore continues to support Willis amid his dementia diagnosis.
Willis retired from acting in March 2022 after he was diagnosed with aphasia. A year later, his family announced that it had progressed to frontotemporal dementia.
Today, he is “incommunicative,” as Moonlighting creator Glenn Gordon Caron told the New York Post.

Inside Schiaparelli’s L.A. Party With Jennifer Lopez, Designer Daniel Roseberry and Evil Eye Cookies
“The relationship between fashion and celebrities can feel very transactional,” said Daniel Roseberry, the Hollywood-loved artistic director of Schiaparelli, at a party for the brand on Thursday, Oct. 12 in Los Angeles.
All around him at the event — held at the iconic Mayan-style John Sowden House in Los Feliz, designed in 1926 by Lloyd Wright — there were actresses aplenty wearing the label’s surrealist-infused looks.
Jennifer Lopez posed by the pool in a strapless corset dress with golden evil-eye details at the waist. Demi Moore chatted with Angela Bassett and the latter’s stylist Jennifer Austin by the bar, as waiters passed around cookies decorated to look like evil eye symbols, one of the house’s signature design codes. Elsewhere, Gabrielle Union, Taraji P. Henson, Olivia Wilde, Natasha Lyonne (with filmmaker and Xtr founder Bryn Mooser), Regina King and director Janicza Bravo all hung out in a lively large group.

Monday night’s Met Gala at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art was a bonafide lovefest for Karl Lagerfeld, whose work is showcased in the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, opening Friday.
With some Met Gala themes, the sartorial choices can be a tad all over the place, and decidedly rooted in causing a social-media frenzy. While the latter was certainly true with several looks (hello, Jared Leto), the overall vibe Monday evening was rooted in paying tribute not only to the many, many designs Lagerfeld produced during his six-decade career but also to the elements that defined the man himself and the design codes he happily embraced within the iconic houses he famously oversaw.

Coco Chanel was known for her long strands of faux pearls — a style code that Karl Lagerfeld transformed into a flashy signature as the creative director of her eponymous fashion house. The late Chanel designer is the focus of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute exhibit, and stars paid homage to his signature accent Monday night at the Met Gala red carpet.
Kim Kardashian’s custom Schiaparelli nude dress (designed by Daniel Roseberry) was “dripping in pearls,” while expectant guests Serena Williams and Karlie Kloss — who both confirmed their pregnancies at the soirée — also wore layers of pearl necklaces. Lil Nas X made quite the statement wearing silver paint, Swarovski crystals and the ocean-born objet (and not much else) all over his body, and Lizzo wore a pearl-embellished black Chanel gown from Fall/Winter 1991. And Rihanna closed out the carpet in a camellia-covered Valentino gown and a chunky diamond and pearl necklace.

One of the most talked about Met Gala guests has arrived.

New York’s fashion industry congregated at current hotspot Cipriani South Street on Nov. 7 to honor the best of American design at the annual Cfda Awards, the first time the ceremony has returned to its full format since prior to the Covid-19 pandemic — the 2021 event was a truncated, less formal affair that took place at the iconic The Grill and The Pool restaurants in Midtown Manhattan.
Catherine Holstein of Khaite and Emily Adams Bode, founder of eponymous brand, Bode, were among the night’s big winners as American Womenswear and Menswear Designers of the Year, respectively. Raul Lopez of Luar, known for its coveted handbags with oversized handles, captured American Accessory Designer of the Year, while Wisconsin-born Elena Velez, who blends a Midwestern aesthetic with gritty details to create looks that feel wholly modern, took home the prize for American Emerging Designer of the Year.

One of the earliest arrivals on MTV’s black carpet was Lizzo, enveloped in a voluminous strapless gown of pleated silk by Glenn Martens for the Jean Paul Gaultier Spring/Summer 2022 haute-couture collection. The artist of the year nominee tweeted, “My stylist: How much fabric do you wanna wear? Me: Yes.”
Indeed, if there’s one element to MTV award evenings that is always appreciated (especially when compared to the relative safety of other current trophy ceremonies) it’s the fearlessness with which the stars and performers approach their fashion choices.
